  1. I want to change the name of the thread, but I'm not sure what it should be. I was thinking of "African Americans Being Killed By Cops".........if anyone has a better title idea, please let me know. Unfortunately, the latest incident that's getting national/international headlines is white a cop shooting Jacob Blake in the back SEVEN times and he's now paralyzed.
  2. Katie Porter, one of my favourites! "As a professor, I've always told my students that one of the most important rules in life is to read the instructions." 😂
  3. I pay some attention to American media and the majority of the time, they're taking down Trump. The. NYT is always putting out negative stories about Trump. Sure there might be the occasional pro Trump stuff. I just don't believe the media is actively trying to reelect Trump. Don't see it.
  4. I haven't seen the interview yet, but to be fair, Kamala shouldn't be grilled? She shouldn't be given tough questions? Maybe I'm just not as pessimistic as you are but I highly doubt the majority of the media and journalists are rooting for Trump to win. That just doesn't make any sense.
  5. It's going to be 4 hours long (4 one hour episodes)! Sweet! Anything's gotta be better than Whedon's JL movie.

Hell yes! The teaser looks like it could be in the same world as Joaquin's Joker. According to Matt Reeves, it's Batman in year two. “It’s not an origins tale, but you’re meeting him in the early days. A lot of the other (cinema) stories showed he had to master his fear and himself, to become Batman........we met in the middle of this criminological experiment and watch him make mistakes.” “He’s not having any of the effect that he want to have, that’s when the murders begin to happen."

I don't believe there's an official movie title yet but they are doing Flashpoint.
  8. Biden’s speech!! 🙌👏
  9. From what I’ve seen of AOC, I like her. I can see why Republicans are afraid of her/obsessed with her: She’s smart, tough, pretty, young. OAC and Katie Porter are two of the newer congresswomen that I always like seeing.

Both Affleck and Keaton's Batman will be in The Flash! 😃
  11. I like how he's giving out examples.
  12. The actress is Charlotte Kirk! She was also the woman who had an affair with Kevin Tsujihara (who was CEO of Warner Bros. at the time of their affair), and she was involved with director Neil Marshall (who apparently left production for a couple of weeks during the Hellboy shoot to be with her, and broke up with his longtime girlfriend). And she had an affair with James Packer, who was a partner at RatPack Entertainment. And she pressured people like director Brett Ratner and producer Avi Lerner try to get her roles. So now we have two instances (Tsujihara and Meyer), that we know of, where she tried to blackmail top execs to advance her acting career. Wow. A movie should be made out of her story. It's quite fascinating how one woman was involved with so many powerful people in the movie business.
  13. Awesome news! Having a Jamaican-Indian-American woman as VP would be really cool.
  14. Has there been any other instances where someone replaced their ex at #1? LOL I respect Watermelon Sugar's slow burn rise to #1. 👏
  15. This one surprised me......but I can't think of (a big artist) debuting a song and album at the same time. Are there any other examples of this? And does the debut song have to be the first single or it can be the second or third single (etc) just as long as it debuts at the same time as the album?
  16. Awesome for Taylor. And congrats to Aaron Dessner. It's always cool getting your first #1. So I wanted to compare the numbers with Taylor's "ME!" and "You Need To Calm Down" to "Cardigan" because those two songs hit #2 and were blocked from the #1 spot by one of the biggest songs of the decade, "Old Town Road." "Cardigan" had less numbers than "ME!" and "YNTCD" but it was able to get #1. U.S. Streams Cardigan: 1) 34 million | Rockstar: 3) 32.9 million ME!: 2) 50.7 million | Old Town Road: 1) 104 million YNTCD: 3) 39 million | Old Town Road: 1) 91.6 million Downloads Sold Cardigan: 1) 71,000 | Rockstar: 7) 10,000 ME!: 1) 193,000 | Old Town Road: 2) 78,000 YNTCD: 1) 79,000 | Old Town Road: 2) 59,000 Radio Airplay Cardigan: 12.7 million | Rockstar: 2) 67.9 million ME!: 13) 54.1 million | Old Town Road: 6) 67.7 million YNTCD: 50) 24.2 million | Old Town Road: 3) 95.8 million The streaming numbers for "Cardigan" and "Rockstar" were pretty close, so it looks like the number of downloads was how "Cardigan" got #1. To think if Taylor started the Lover Era, like her previous eras, in the summer, I think "ME!" would've gone to #1. And then "YNTCD" also would've gone to #1 in late fall. To go even further, if she didn't release "Ready For It" two weeks after "Look What You Made Me Do," I think "Ready For It" would've hit #1 when the video was released in October - I believe the song peaked at #4. To me, those three were Taylor's missed opportunities at getting #1 songs. But hindsight is 20/20. LOL
  17. So close to beating Lover (21,000 in units and 64,000 in pure sales)! I wonder not having the album in stores affected the numbers one way or the other. Either way, these numbers are impressive! So proud of her. She consistently creates fantastic albums and her fans are willing to buy it - gotta keep the collection going. I bought the album off iTunes and I'm also going to buy the CD and maybe the vinyl. 19. Trump just said he's banning TikTok. Let's see if/when this affects the charts.......until the next TikTok like app is created.
  20. Yeah, stan culture is terrible and now it's so much worse thanks to social media. You can just look at any tweet from Chart Data and all the replies are basically fanbases trying to one-up each other with "look at how my favourite artist is better than yours" or "[artist] [song] [album] flopped" - it's so annoying. The latest thing I've noticed from stans is the altering of people's faces into these outrageous expressions - it's so creepy.
  21. I know people hated those long days but I loved it. I don't think I ever complained how long the day was - I just enjoyed the journey.

  23. The Story Behind Every Song on Taylor Swift’s folklore According to the National’s Aaron Dessner. If you've reached your limit on the site, you can read it here. "I sent it before I went on a run, and when I got back from the run, that song was there." That made laugh. What was interesting was that on some of the songs, Aaron sent Taylor instrumentals and then she wrote the lyrics to them. She doesn't do that too often. Off the top of my head, I can only think of "I Wish You Would" (Jack Antonoff). Most of the time, it's Taylor coming up with the lyrics and melodies, and then bringing the partially written song to her collaborator.
  24. "Perhaps more interestingly, singer-songwriters Sia and Lady Gaga both used to be reviewed, but after their albums started hitting No. 1, Pitchfork stopped covering them." Geez!!! I can't them take seriously at all. LOL Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ Off to Fast Start, Over Half-Million Units Earned in U.S. in First Three Days "Taylor Swift’s new album Folklore has earned more than 500,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first three days of release, according to initial reports to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of Folklore’s more than 500,000 units tallied in its first three days, album sales power more than 400,000, while the bulk of the remainder is in SEA units." Lover sold 867,000 units with 679,000 being pure albums in its first week. Can folklore get 280,000 pure albums in the last 4 days? Rooting for that to happen.
