BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree. Seeing Dani this distraught over Hayley's baby is just ridiculous, and it makes no sense. Of course, I'm also bothered by how dumb Naomi is with all this. God, no. I have no idea why anyone wants to see this. Derek is a character who's had a hill to climb after being written as an absolute moron, and now you want him to bed the mother of his former girlfriend? Huh? It would be an absolute joke to put Derek and Jan together -- even for one screw.

LATEST RATINGS: July 28 - August 1, 2025
The ratings for BTG on Thursday and Friday were pretty bad, but look at its lead-in: B&B had an awful Thursday and Friday.

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- I do not want to see Jan chasing Derek. Anyone mentioning that should please rethink it. -- Derek's plea to Ashley was nicely done. Very genuine, and for him, even poetic. I thought Ashley responded as her usual middle schooler -- selfish and self-absorbed, barely listening to Derek's heart or what it took her him to AGAIN go to her. I hope he dumps her basic ass for good. -- Ben Gavin continues to improve. Jen Jacob continues playing to the lousy dialogue they give her. -- I have no idea what's going on with the Hayley story. Like so many here, I needed motivation for what Hayley has done. -- Kill me now if Naomi is as dumb as they're making her seem today -- believing Hayley's stories and lies. There'd better be a twist, because we're getting multiple stories with Naomi seeming clueless. -- Vanessa has to be playing both Doug and Joey. Still, I want to gag when I think of her bedding down with Joey and telling him she wants him more than she wants Doug. Does she have to be a whore to get her way? -- Is Kenny the racist really dead? Or do we spare Jacob's dad by one day showing that he's still alive? I can't trust this show yet to believe that dead means dead. -- The previews showed me that we're getting more lousy acting next week from Tomas, who apparently can't salsa dance with Kat but will be much better at it with Eva. How much you wanna bet he looks laughably awkward with both of them? -- SOOOOO many of us are talking about pacing, and about stories that are dropped for multiple weeks and then picked up again -- with a flattening of momentum in between. I think this is a problem when it's done with almost every story. I think it's planned and I think it's intentional, but I'm not sure it works as often as Gates does it.

Y&R: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- This entire show is deplorable, and I bemoan the increase in ratings. If we can't get rid of Josh Griffith, there is no hope. -- Cliffhanger Friday? The entire hour was business stories -- who's taking over what company, who's pretending to side with whom and acting as a mole, how every company needs to guard against takeovers, etc. NOBODY -- not one company -- works at selling things or marketing a product. Every company works toward a hostile takeover and bringing the other guy down. NONE of it makes sense. -- Cane returns as a multi-billionaire who's brilliant and powerful. Does he have a team of high-powered executives and lawyers working for him other than Amanda? No. He hires f_ucking Billy and Phyllis, of all people -- two misfits who have failed at so many business ventures I lost count. -- There's no sense detailing all the things wrong with these business stories and this show. As others have said, it's all so lazy and incompetent.

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Shouldn't a supposedly good businessman like Joey know not to put IRS eyes on Vanessa's accounts? This is another business story that makes no sense. -- And don't get me started on Joey's business being dependent on a couple like Vanessa and Doug. -- Joey really needs an office or a home set if they plan to keep the character. All these backroom casino scenes are laughable. -- Is Ashley going to be Joey's daughter? We're not getting rid of Joey, are we? This move would almost be too obvious. -- Also obvious? That Hayley is faking her pregnancy. Surely this show is not going to blatantly foreshadow one big plot point after another. -- Hayley should have gone to the ER or to Urgent Care immediately. What's up with this "tomorrow morning" stuff? -- Very cool of Derek and Jacob to work out hard and then throw their hot, sweaty bodies on the leather furniture at the club.

DAYS: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Today's show was flat to me. The only thing I liked was the Xander/Sarah stuff. -- Since Julie's going to buy a bookstore, at least we'll get to see the inside with fake books on the shelves, unlike Sweet Bits where we never get anything but someone walking around Horton Square with desserts on a plate or in a box. -- I am so damn tired of Susan.

B&B: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Thank you, B&B, for all the laugh out loud moments today! 🤣 Ridge running around Italy to find Brooke was funny enough, but then we got to see Brooke thrown into the water off Nick's boat and watch Ridge dive in to save her. Hilarious! 😂 Of course, it's all because Nick apparently has no idea how to drive a boat, how to slow it down, or how to kill an engine. It's all so real! 🤣 --Just about as real as Liam's tumor! -- Also gotta love seeing 95-year old Eric in constant panic over who gets to jump on Brooke's cooter!

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
Excellent show overall with some notes. -- The Barbara tribute was a nice touch, and it was a good idea to have Andre as its editor and creator. At least it makes him seem somewhat skilled in the business. -- I thought Anita's speech was fine -- until the end when she made it about herself, taking the blame for Barbara not being part of the group. Really, Anita? You can't celebrate her without talking about yourself? -- I also wish Tracy and Sharon knew about the tribute video in advance. Once again, Anita took over. -- Not crazy about Anita leaving the afterparty to go back to the stage. Didn't buy that at all. I realize they chose to end the episode on that moment, but it would have made more sense to have Anita do that same scene while she was still at the theater. -- And Barbara left Anita a sign? Really, BTG? I'm so glad Barbara forgives faster than her Articulette sisters. -- The Entertainment Tonight piece was an awesome add. -- Clifton Davis continues to be perfect as Vernon. He is seamlessly believable in every scene, and I'd call him the glue of BTG. -- I'm always down for Nicole going after Leslie, but leaving the party to go to OJ's? No. I do not want to see Nicole bothered like that. To me, that gave a win to Leslie. -- I loved the Smitty and Martin scenes. The chemistry is there after a slow start in February, and I want them back together. I agree that Smitty is a bit hypocritical in his forgiveness of Martin vs forgiveness of others, and I agree that's also human and realistic. -- I didn't like Madison acting like a middle schooler at a Taylor Swift concert. Just ridiculous. -- Not crazy about having Anita tell Chelsea that she and Madison remind her of herself and Vernon. It's far too soon for that, and I think of Anita as having more sense. -- Dani's outfit was hilarious. She looks like she's ready to sing karaoke to Half Breed by Cher. -- Tyrell and Samantha talking about their mother deserting them disappointed me because it points to June as their mother, and I was hoping for anything but that.

Y&R: August 2025 Discussion Thread
Thanks for saving me time. Every single point you made is on point. In addition, -- At least we get to see Victoria's tack house grow every time we see it. Thanks, Jill Farren Phelps! -- Billy had me HOWLING when he said he'll live on his train -- an exact duplicate of the one in France because he has identical trains on every continent. 😂🤣😂 I don't know how Flynn and Stafford got through that dialogue. OF COURSE this cheap ass show can't build Cane a home for a billionaire. They have to use a set they built for a 3-month trip to nowhere. -- You're so right about the static staging. All soaps do it, but none like Y&R. -- The lack of extras is bad at Crimson Lights, I agree, but I think it's even worse at Society. We're getting scenes with no customers, no bartender, no wait staff, no host, no nothing.

2025: The Directors and Writers Thread
Mike, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I looked over that thread where you gave us the JFP spoiler, and I saw very few posters giving you grief. In fact, I see only one person getting negative. You did say that you heard from people in your DMS, so I know there might have actually been grief. All of this to say that I and many others appreciated your scoop and know you don't post stuff that isn't reliable. I think the board loses something when insider voices are silenced.

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
I don't think they do. I've been critical of Jen Jacob, but some of the stuff they're giving her is really awful. Look at last week when Derek took her out for coffee and essentially to apologize for breaking up with her. They could have written her response a number of different ways. Instead, they went with having Ashley get annoyed and twist his words? And then to walk out on him? Meryl Streep couldn't make that ish work.

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
I hear you, but in one paragraph, you mentioned THREE versions of Ashley that we've seen. That is a problem. Either the writers don't know who they want Ashley to be, the actress doesn't know how to play what's written, or a combination of both.
-
BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- I wish I thought the actress could play that effectively. I don't. -- I'm also concerned about how many times I'm hearing on this board that various storylines have "stalled." Stalling can be an effective story-telling device, but I think the show has to be careful about using it too often, to the point where it feels as if it's all the time.

That is hilarious! It's crazy they make Katie and everyone else -- including drooling old man Eric -- care so much about Brooke's cooter.

DAYS: July 2025 Episode Rankings & Stats
-- Agree about Shawn. Beemer is always solid when they write for him -- and he looks so good, too hehe -- Like others, I'm not happy with Gwen and I did not want her back. Theresa makes more sense. -- I also don't want Sarah with Brady. I get it that their relationship and Xander and Gwen are the obstacles for Sarah/Xander to overcome, but I don't like either pairing to get there. -- I cringe every time Susan is on the screen, and I've had enough of Kristen, too. -- Leo and Javi as foster parents is a complete joke. -- A lot of good story was left to be told with Doug3, and I don't get the cast cut. Bottom line is that while I'm glad a lot of Carlivati's nonsense is gone, I have a ton of questions about the future. I'm not ready to say this is going to work.

Y&R: August 2025 Discussion Thread
That would be typical Josh Griffith trash. I did see a photo on X that looked recent, and Jess Walton was on set, so maybe we're getting that. Still, if Tricia Cast isn't on screen, it'll be a miss.

DAYS: July 2025 Episode Rankings & Stats
I agree. While I'm happy with some of the changes with the new writers, I think it's a mistake to once again sideline Beemer and give Moss so little airtime. Instead we're stuck with Leo and Javi pushing a baby stroller or putting the kid in a carrier on the kitchen counter.

Y&R: August 2025 Discussion Thread
The show today was so bad with so little happening that I spent my time noticing garbage such as -- Stupid dialogue with Daniel and Tessa looking up in the clouds and talking about what animals they see. -- Aria looking HUGE in that baby stroller. -- When Aria was sleeping, they turned the stroller AWAY from Tessa and Daniel's eyeline. Why? So we couldn't see there was no kid in that stroller. -- Diane and Phyllis spent half the show fixing and stirring their coffee at Crimson Lights. -- Tessa and Diane have a conversation at CL solely because...well, for no reason. IT was because Griffith wrote in as few characters as possible for the day and that's why you end up with ridiculous scenes like Diane giving crayons from her purse to Tessa. -- Diane was so active at CL. She moved from that coffee counter...to the side room where she played with her tablet...to the booth where she talked with Tessa...then back to the side room to have coffee with Jack. -- I'm so emotional seeing Tessa talk to Aria's stroller. That's right, no kid in sight.

BTG: August 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Good episode that played the concert stuff as well as anyone could hope for. -- The music? Meh. They were in tune and the moves were cute, but none of that was a wow. None of it showed me why they would have been huge back in the day, but I give the show props for all we got. -- But $300. for premium seating? I don't think so. -- Samantha made dance moves in her seat like a 30-year old. -- Leslie breaks all the rules. When I saw her filming the concert -- she was the only one with her phone out -- I knew she was again the outlaw. -- Best exchange of the episode was when Smitty told Martin "I always liked that jacket on you" and Martin replied, "I know." Simple, yet beautiful. -- Ashley is a POS. Derek takes her for coffee and apologizes to her. She responds with attitude and cu_ntiness to everything he says. Then she twists his words and acts like he's blaming her for the break up. That's followed by her saying they're over and walking off like a bitch. -- Why does Ashley care about Shanice and Derek? I hope Derek is done with her for good. She's a child. Let her put on her beret and pretend she's in Paris with Andre in between his visits to screw Dani. -- Vanessa looked hilariously out of place at the hospital. She'd really go there like that to see Doug? The girl really acts like banging Joey on a casino table is what it takes to win. -- I thought the cliffhanger was fine. When the next week's previews close the show, that becomes the cliffhanger for me.

B&B: August 2025 Discussion Thread
Thanks for the recap of Hunter's interview. Appreciate it, because now I won't spend my time listening to some spiritual awakening B.S. while she dances around what B&B really did to her. Honestly, interviews like that help Brad Bell more than help her.
