Y&R: July 2025 Discussion Thread
Josh Griffith is such a hack that I wouldn't be shocked if he made Chance the killer. It doesn't matter -- not to JG -- what moral fiber and values Chance has always had. Griffith can write in some kind of moronic explanation that it was all to protect Chancellor Industries. We all know a certain actor is leaving at some point, so I can see a terrible writer like JG coming up with a terrible resolution.

If this show makes sex work part of Martin's story, I do not think they'll write Martin as cheating on Smitty with an escort. I think it'll be something like Joey trying to blackmail Martin with a gay trick and with it all going bad. I don't see them wrecking Martin's character that way.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I think this Martin storyline is replete with missed beats. I thought today's show was a mess, full of stupid people dancing around what was going on. -- Did Martin give ANY thought to what he'd say in that press conference? He didn't tell his family, he didn't tell his staff. We have not been told/shown that he knows what happened two years ago, so just what would he say at the presser? This just writes him as a stupid person. -- I don't buy Martin as so stupid he wouldn't talk to his husband and kids about this first. It's a press conference that could upend their lives. -- Or maybe not, since we have no idea what Martin was going to say. Again, I'm not a fan of building to a climax that never happens. -- The people "handling Kenny" have been stupid for two years. How much money was he offered/given? Mobster Joey tosses out the line that "You can't get good help these days" apparently referring to Randy not getting rid of Kenny. Really??? That's what this mean, viscious mob guy is going with? -- Vernon has also been stupid. Bill? Stupid. -- The writers have worked overtime to keep too many secrets, too many truths away from us. That's why we're all spiraling about this story. It's going to be hard to come up with any resolution that satisfies all this secrecy. -- Re: the June storyline. If they want me to care about her, they need to show her. Hearing Jacob and Naomi talk about her is not enough. -- I hope they'll have Jacob and Naomi track down that phone number instead of acting like they have no idea what to do next. -- And no, June should not still be in the hospital. We were told they'd keep her until they find a safe place for her. Really? That's how we're treating the homeless these days? So ridiculous.

Your take is your take, but I didn't think he looked weak at all. I also think pulling a gun would be completely out of character for Lucas.

GH: July 2025 Discussion Thread
Yeah, I agree. I hated the character but this is pretty ugly stuff. I think this was actually some of Hansis' best work on GH.

-- Jesus, I know I'm a broken record, but Maurice Benard was beyond terrible today. Those scenes with Sidwell were PAINFUL. -- Kind of hilarious that Nina said "I won't forget about this, Tracy. You messed with the wrong bitch" AFTER walking away from her -- whispering it so Tracy wouldn't hear her. 😂 -- Rory Gibson's performance as a father continues to shine. He shows a deep bond with his kids that Chad Duell never did.

I can speak only for myself, but my complaints and criticisms about BTG are not an indication of any dissatisfaction with the show. I enjoy watching it a great deal. If someone told me I could watch only 2 soaps, BTG would be one of them. There's a community here discussing the show in great detail, and that's interesting and fun. For the most part, we don't do it for the other soaps on the regular. That means I regularly bullet point negatives and positives that I wouldn't spend time on with another soap.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
Just curious: Is there a reason you continually call Martin "Deadbeat"? It's pretty clear that you don't like Brandon Claybon at all, so is that the reason? -- That being said, some of these writing choices for Martin are beyond stupid. Why did he return to the park area to look around? Did he think Kenny would be sunbathing? He's supposedly a U.S. Congressman, yet he runs from place to place with no plan, no goal, no back up. Beyond stupid. -- Hearing Samantha repeat that she's tired of being treated like she's a little girl is hilarious when we all saw her interact with a strange adult. Then she goes over what she was taught, sounding like a 12-year old who is ready to yell "stranger danger." -- Are we really buying that brilliant minds like Vernon and Bill didn't know how "the problem" was handled? And why did they have that meeting of all the powerful men in town (including laughable mob man Joey) if they didn't think murder was on the table? -- Maybe we should get flashbacks showing us when Hayley and Bill fell for each other. I can only imagine how that would play on our screens. The truth is that it would make both of them come off as disgusting. -- I'm fine with Brandon Claybon as Martin, and I do not want a recast. I do want the writers to do better and to play to his strengths as an actor. I do not think they're doing that, and they've had time to know what those strengths are by now.

Redaric is FINE and is a solid actor. I was pissed when Y&R got rid of him.

-- Y&R has been terrible, but I really was encouraged to see Lily with a Black man. All this build up for all these months -- with Damian and Nate, with his mother, with the mystery business -- all for nothing. Jermaine Rivers is a good actor, too, so of course, he's dumped. -- I know CK gets the blame for wanting Lily to be with only white guys, but I just don't believe the show gives her that kind of control. In addition, she was doing good, strong work with JR, and I didn't see any sign she wasn't giving her all. -- I've read that the stabbing was meant for Cane and not for Damian, but they sure didn't film it that way. Cane was completely blocked by Damian and the knife went directly into Damian's back.

DAYS: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I had to smh at Javi at home babysitting (with the REALLY fake, stiff baby doll) while Leo enjoys a huge lunch and a mimosa at the Pub. Still, Javi and Leo did manage to get the baby some fresh air by wheeling her around the Square. I guess buying a $400 stroller was worth it.

She squints her eyes, and that's it. She cannot show real emotion. -- Why is Bill telling Ridge and Taylor "I want to see my son" as if he's asking for permission? Just go to the main damn desk and ask what room he's in. -- Would $Bill really stand there as one person after another called him the worst father ever? I doubt it. -- LMAO at the nurse who stepped in Liam's room for 10 seconds total to "check his vitals" and declare they're ok. Then Bridget walks in and says "I know his vitals are OK, but I had to see for myself." This stuff is so bad it's hilarious! -- Bridget's hair is styled like she's one of the real housewives. -- Dr. Buckingham's care seems to be touching Liam's face. Still, that did wake him up. 😂 -- Scott Clifton couldn't even wake up without it looking like pure camp.

-- GH put more thought into Natalia's coffin and the floral spray on top of it than they did her entire storyline. -- Did GH decide to hate Daniel Goddard as soon as they hired him? I don't know why we keep seeing this pasty white guy with his shirt off over and over. -- A dog at the Metro Court pool. What in the hell am I watching.

It's all color-by-numbers to me. A few decades-old clips are fun, but they barely tap into what you call this "rich history." Danny and Cricket will get their 5 appearances now and then they'll be gone again for 3 months while Danny's supposedly on another world tour. They won't get any storyline -- not that they have one now. It all plays like filler to me. BTW, Lauralee Bell looks absolutely great. Michael Damian should have been given a glow up, because his hair continues to look terrible.

-- Yeah, I had a hard time dealing with Anita in these scenes. She still wants control, to be in charge, and to make the major decisions. She presents changes to Tracy and Sharon and thinks that's enough while AGAIN voicing that ridiculous "Articulettes Strong" line. -- This is one reunion concert, right? Wouldn't people expect to see a blast from the past and not "updated arrangements and new choreography"? When I want Motown, I want MOTOWN, not some new version of it -- especially from women their age. What the hell is Anita thinking? -- Yep. That becomes more obvious every week. -- That didn't work for me. So now BOTH of their kids are completely clueless about hanging with adults??? What is going on??? It doesn't make sense. Samantha is supposed to be very social and have a ton of friends, yet she's meeting some older dude in the park to help him work his phone??? -- I still don't understand why Kenny is out and about at all. I don't understand why he wouldn't be afraid of being killed by the scary mobsters in town. Is Kenny an idiot, too?

DD was never great, but he was usually able to avoid being this bad. I loved those pool boy days -- he was hot. The guy is still good looking, but the "He's so hot" days are gone. He always looks swollen and stuffed into his clothes.

That's my biggest take from today's show. It made me long for this Laura. The "Oh, Sonny, we will always be friends!" Laura is and will always be awful. Those scenes with Rocco were nicely done. -- Chase looked sooooo good today. Thank you, Josh Swickard. -- Guys (including Isaiah) should run from Portia. She's always on the rebound, always making wrong and impulsive decisions. -- Are we supposed to be on Trina's side in her argument with Kai? Because I understand both of their points of view.

-- Yeah, Luna isn't dead. It's all Li does as a doctor. -- Don Diamont was all kinds of terrible in today's episode. Talk about really terrible scenery chewing accompanied by glycerin tears smeared all over his face. -- Can someone please get Steffy out of that AWFUL top she's wearing to hide JMW's pregnancy?

Daytime Emmy Nominees
I have no doubt they use AI for their "research." I can tell you first-hand the information can be bad. A few months ago, I asked Chat GTP how many Emmys Thorsten Kaye has won. They answer I got was "None, but he has been nominated." I knew he'd won 2 Lead Actor Emmys in a row, so I argued back that the information was wrong. Chat GTP responded again that he'd won no Emmys and gave me the years when he'd been nominated. I was both annoyed and having fun at this point, so I again told the AI that their information was terrible, and that I knew TK had won at least two Emmys. This went back-and-forth FOUR TIMES before I was told "You are right! We double-checked our information!" I was then fed the correct answer and Chat GTP thanked me for pressing them until I got the right answer. Long story short, don't believe everything you read on any AI.

-- Cady McClain is now on her 4th accent and apparently thinks she's an American socialite on Downton Abbey. It's awful, and someone needs to stop her. -- Best line of the show (on an episode with a ton of good dialogue) was when Shanice looked at Derek's butt and said "Oh, that's good." -- And yeah, it was good. Shanice has great taste in cakes. -- Only at Garland Memorial on BTG does someone get physical therapy next to the nurses' desk. -- I wish Shanice had checked Ashley harder when Basic A tossed that tablet at her. I hope she's spiraling...,maybe her character can finally be interesting. -- I'm with others on the Dani overload. I like KM, but they aren't doing enough with her for all this screen time. Plus all these hot bodies on this show and we get another Dani/Andre sex scene? -- The Nicole/Leslie scenes were great, although I hate it that they're writing Ted as this clueless. Driving her home? Just makes no sense. -- Also not making sense? Eva not telling her father IMMEDIATELY that Kat steered her wrong on the accreditation. Why keep that away from him? -- Why did Hayley go to the hospital at all??? I don't get it.
