  1. Brooke and Deacon led to the next two decades of Brooke involved in increasingly stupid sex scandals. Hurting her close family members because why not and being forgiven in a month as they rolled onto the next stupid story. For whatever reason she stopped being a character and just became a blow up doll for Brad Bell's sick quasi-incestuous fantasies. It's a slippery slope before they have her start an affair with a blood relative because why not.
  2. I think Phyllis is drunk and she's working overtime to elevate the most semi-decent dialogue she's had in years probably.
  3. I think Joss and Dex have a lot of physical chemistry (clearly the actors are very…comfortable) but like you said, the story ain’t it. The dialogue is weird too, they spit plot points at each other I don’t know why they like each other beyond the physical. And if that’s all there is then say it. Lol I love Sonny’s current status as Nina’s Boyfriend. I swear in some scenes the only thing that’s missing is him holding her purse while she does more interesting things, like talk to people with actual stories. And yes, Sasha’s grief is realistic but it’s such a chore to watch a non-central, inessential character float from scene to scene talking about how profound her grief is. If there was some sort of action involved, by that I mean seeing the ramifications of her grief on herself or others I might find it interesting but as is it’s just a time filler. I actually liked Gladys saying that seeing Brando’s name over and over was difficult for her, that’s very real. I hate that it’ll be later thrown in her face when Sasha learns the truth.
  4. SloMo and Dex’s budding romance is not nearly as captivating as they seem to think so. I think Sonny is a useless husk of a character but he has zero reason to like this kid, he’s not interesting or charming. No charisma and he acts like a scared little boy, Sonny would not find that appealing in an enforcer. Speaking of romances, Sasha and uhhh Josh Kelly talking about how depressed they are is fast forward TV. I don’t care and I don’t buy that the characters find any of this interesting. And two full episodes about the selling of a garage is torturous.
  5. That dirty sink water music really enhances the scene.
  6. Sometimes actors choose material that was fun for them, the importance or "classic-ness" of it doesn't matter much vs. how much they enjoyed making it. It's annoying but they probably had a good time so it's a fond memory for her. Edit: @BoldRestless said the same thing, my bad.
  7. He's Dante Falconeri, Sonny's (the elderly mob boss who mumbles a lot) long lost son. They don't interact much. He (Dante) was married to Lulu Spencer, the daughter of Laura Spencer (the mayor), who is now in a coma. He's been in a very dull relationship with Sam for at least a year now. Sam used to be involved with Sonny 20 years ago, she had his kid and everything. Long story.
  8. I'm pretty sure that person posted that because they saw it here because that man doesn't appear to be in his 70s but if I'm wrong I'm wrong, I've been there before.
  9. That's Elon Musk. I kid, but that man doesn't look old enough to be Miguel.
  10. You have to be doing this on purpose at this point. It's pretty funny, I can't lie. Looks like it. I really enjoyed Liz and Cam's scene yesterday. His disappoint in her seemed authentic to the fact that they're both good people. And I think it was RH's best performance since I started watching again. Every time I see Tatyana Ali I think "she's so beautiful", it's like I'm surprised. Genie Francis and Nicholas Chavez bring out something really special in each other. She's lucked out with the casting for most of her kids and grandkids.
  11. Definitely not. I bet she had some good negotiating power after Genie then Tony left. Found an article with this quote That's wildly unlikely. Erica was in at least 200 episodes a year, they weren't paying her 200 million. Also found this discussion from 25 (!) years ago: Lucci was probably making 2-3 million by 2000.
  12. That's her actual voice? She sounds incredible.
  13. Bet they got it in under the wire for BHM! I recall asking my mother about Carla, she was a teenager when OLTL premiered, and she said everyone (as in her and her friends) knew she was black. From the Wikipedia page: Who, other than ES, was getting 1 million a year in 1980? And we've had at least 10 more since!
  14. They cannot possibly think this story of Carly and Drew hiding their relationship because of some SEC violation is remotely interesting. Carly wouldn't give two farts and Drew, as played by Cam Mathison, is barely registering as human on the Uncanny Valley scale. No one cares! If you forget who Nina and Willow are and everything they've ever done on this show and every single second of their backstory, the bit with Nina giving Willow that nail strengthening nail polish was nice. Between Mo and KMo there must be a competition to see who can take the longest to spit out their goddamn lines. Jesus Christ. Michael and Dexter meeting on the studio rooftop was certainly a budgetary choice but it was well shot and lit so I approve.
  15. I didn't like Ryan and Kendall personally, Ryan was verbally abusive to every woman they paired him with. But yeah, Kendall and Zach were, to me, awful. I think Thorsten Kaye is a lazy, uninteresting actor. I've always said that while Alicia Minshew wasn't the greatest of actresses but she had charisma, much like her onscreen mother, in spades. She made all of her pairings work because she was endearing somehow and they worked hard to give Kendall layers, layers that I feel diminished first with Ryan and were further diminished with Zach. But most individual characters can diminished when they become just one half of The Couple. Todd as the defacto male lead for the last 15 years of the show made me angrier the longer it went on. An immoral malcontent with a penchant for deliberately hurting the people he loved. At least Luke went after the Cassadines with maybe a friend or two as collateral damamge, but Todd regularly abused Blair and Tea and hurt Viki's children and then his own children over and over for selfish, cruel reasons. It was never amusing to me, especially when the actors who played him became so lazy that they didn't bother hiding how much they hated doing the work.
  16. To the detriment of the entire program. Deciding to re-center the show around these two immoral, selfish, histrionic criminals irreparably damaged the fabric of the show and only recently, with age creeping up on both of them and lead stories waning, is the canvas getting something of a balance. Now they feel like part of a whole and not the whole damn thing. For AMC I’ll name two: Zach and Kendall, Ryan and Greenlee. Only one of these characters was likeable or sympathetic or played by a charismatic actor (Kendall), the other three were unwatchable narcissistic a-holes played by actors either trying too hard (Mathison) or actors who’d sleepwalk through their scenes (Rebecca Budig and that jackass who somehow got them to make Myrtle’s death have entirely too much Zach). So naturally they made them the stars of the show. Y&R Victoria and Billy’s pairing, which existed solely because of the alleged chemistry between Toothy Bedhead and Toothy Blockhead, did neither character any favors and they’re STILL trying to recover from it years and recasts later. Warping your show around what some small but vocal subset of fans think is “hot” is why soaps are where they are today.
  17. The amount of care put into that montage of Bobbie's dream is so impressive, especially at a time when an episode of daytime was treated as ephemeral. Was that about Carly? In regards to directing and lighting for a soap opera nothing will impress me as much as Y&R in its heyday but this is pretty damn good. Plus the characters are well-defined and individualistic, you'd never hear someone other than Lucy speak the way she does, whereas on Y&R at a certain point everyone started to sound the same. Who needs legacy male doctors when we have Easton and Howarth playing the walking corpses of John Caleb Silas Finn McBain and Todd Franco Austin Manning?
  18. Guys, it was a joke. Half of them are wearing extensions or full on wigs. And I know British soaps announce departures well in advance. Usually with some hyperbole about how exciting the exit is going to be.
  19. This looks well produced but they'll definitely be making it up as they go along. And fingers crossed none of those actresses quits, gets fired, gets injured, dies or god forbid gets a haircut.
  20. As big of a nepo baby as LLB is and how annoyingly saccharine and self-righteous Christine could be at least she was gorgeous, played by a pretty good actress and someone with a strong moral center. Rare to find on daytime anymore. Also she looks fantastic and I can't tell if she's had any work done, which is in itself a compliment. I really miss the way Y&R would ease you into an episode. They'd give you 10-20 seconds before anyone even said anything, I can't quite put it into words, it just felt comforting. All soaps used to do that really, setting the scene, but Y&R did it the best.
  21. [Ava walks into Kelly's and spots Brook Lynn] Ava: Brook Lynn! I see you're here getting your daily cup of joe. Brook Lynn: Yep, Kelly's is my go-to for coffee most days. Ava: Oh, so no decaf for you? Finding yourself needing a pick-me-up these days hmm? [Dramatic pause as the music crescendos] It's their attempt to make scenes that aren't remotely dramatic dramatic and it drives me absolutely bonkers.
  22. The whole plot is beyond stupid but Felicia slowly taking off the dead makeup throughout the episode was pretty funny. Does anyone else feel the awkward pause while Kelly Monaco's castmates wait for her to finish her lines? What is going on with her? Dante and Sam even discussing the possibility of another child is ridiculous with them in their mid-40s raising 4 kids. Kids we never see. Molly's possible pregnancy is not a storyline and this show does not need any more goddamn babies. I find the whole idea that Molly and TJ, who have inexplicably been together for a decade despite both still being children, are in a domestic partnership. It's giving Loving V. Virginia. Very suspicious. Speaking of interracial relationships, Spencer and Trina haven't had a scene together in 2 weeks and ya boy is thirsty. I don't think I can handle another episode of Brook Lynn talking about her feelings for Chase. Or his feelings for her. They write them like they're 22, not the 40 year olds they are. And Depression Central Sasha needs to be offscreen until she has something to do, I'm sick of hearing about her grief. No one cares.
  23. You’re kinder than me! BTW I just watched the Virginia scenes where she finds out exactly Carly was up to while avoiding her and oof, rough stuff. I mean great stuff, Bobbie and Tony did not let up, but difficult to see this woman’s vision of her daughter crumble like. I don’t know who the actress was but she was amazing.
  24. Michael was mad for 3 episodes! I guess he’s not allowed to be angry with both his parents at the same time. And Willow didn’t give a fùck at all.
  25. They certainly put in the work to make Lucky his father’s son. Luke, who demonized Laura for *checks notes* getting raped (by someone who wasn’t him, maybe that’s what pissed him off) and being forced to abandon her son to a bunch of psychotic European hillbillies. The Carly thing is mostly annoying to me because apparently WE’RE supposed to believe it too. Fine, let Willow think she’s amazing but clearly the show thinks she’s wonderful and in the right all of the time. Carly has been a cretin since her first episode and that hasn’t changed one iota. So her as Mother Earth, matriarch and beacon of light in Port Charles is laughable. In other news, I used to hate that Summer was actually Nick’s daughter on Y&R. I just wanted Jack to win for once but now I don’t care. You know what I really hate? When characters, especially ones who HAD parents, in their 20s and 30s start calling their newly discovered parents mom or dad. Sam was damn near 30 when she found out Alexis was her mom. And it still rings false when she calls her mom all these years later I’m sorry. And Carly calling Bobbie “mama”. You’re not 3. And you had a mother who loved you your whole life! I’m sure in the long run it’s works as an audience shorthand but I hate it.
