this! There is real human suffering. I don't want the news turned into a "scandalous" soapy reality show to get clicks.

Samantha just pointed that out today to Smitty, and asked Smitty to promise to at least keep talking to Martin -- not asking for reconciliation yet but at least communication. Smitty agreed.

Anita had better tell Nicole everything. If Anita tries to put a spin on it, I will be upset! I want Nicole to know it all. Looking forward to the strong fierce queen Nicole taking it all in, and then raging out. I believe she's strong enough!

The Politics Thread
The rich, white, wealthy, straight, and men in power want to want is to take rights, funds, and healthcare away from anyone *not* rich, white, wealthy, straight, and male. Many will die as result of these policies -- which is what they want. The rich, white, wealthy, straight, and men in power also want to destroy Mother Nature so that there is no planet Earth for anyone to live on anymore. They will fixate on any news story that distracts from the death and destruction they are wreaking.

I didn't even realize that Kenny and his brother had a gun until yesterday when I saw the flashback clip slowed down, and then rewatched that scene on PPlus later. Is the gun new to the viewers' knowledge of the storyline? I didn't know about it until yesterday's flashback -- was it mentioned before? So many things for Jacob to investigate, piece by piece, with his dad likely trying to stop him.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
We haven't been told what ever happened to the body of Kenny's brother. I am reminded of Sergeant Voight of the show "Chicago PD", who buries bodies of criminals he has killed. I assume that Marcel Malone buried Kenny's brother somewhere. Martin telling the kids the "sanitized version" of what happened. That's weird but I understand it -- for the time being. Martin told the kids that he beat up Kenny in defense of Vernon, but Martin omitted telling them that he beat Kenny so bad that he needed plastic surgery and that the face they knew Kenny by was not his original face. Kenny's death will be "officially" explained as a shooting during a robbery, and Martin thinks that will be the end of it. I assume Martin and Vernon don't know what happened to the body of Kenny's brother, nor do they want to know. I appreciate that Martin told Kenny that he'd killed the brother. But I guess Martin wasn't ready to tell the kids he'd killed someone. Ideally, Martin would have told Smitty first, long ago, and then Martin and Smitty could have taken the time to discuss privately between the two of them how/what to tell their kids. But this was happening all at once today, so Martin omitted that he killed someone, even though it was in self defense. And completely omitted the *existence* of Kenny's brother being there that night. But we know Jacob is suspicious of the the story behind the unidentified body, whom we the audience know is Kenny. Jacob will want to do a DNA test on the body to help identify him. Jacob will eventually learn who he is and that he has a missing brother ... but that could go on for weeks ... Eventually Martin *will* have to tell the kids that he killed someone.

Well maybe the phonecall that Anita declined to answer was from an Articulette who received that phonecall from Naomi who called about June . . . and eventually realized that Naomi is Anita's granddaughter?

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
Since BTG first started, I have sometimes thought of the fictional Duprees as a modern Black version of the 1950s and 1960s time period of the real-life Kennedy political family. But the Duprees are more interesting to me now. I remember all this Kennedy story, as I am elderly, but I'll summarize for any youngsters here: Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. was wealthy and powerful with many political positions, and his wife Rose was the daughter of the Mayor of Boston; and all their progeny had influential careers and married influential people. And of course, their sons JFK Sr., RFK Sr., and Ted were all famous politicians, their daughter Eunice founded the Special Olympics, and their daughter Jean was an Ambassador. Joseph P. Sr. was notorious for throwing around his power and influence back in the 1940s, in order to get JFK started in his career in Congress. Being in Congress later led to JFK being able to run for the Senate and later the Presidency. Joseph Sr. was a Democrat in name, but conservative in philosophy, and not a nice person, so in that way quite different from Vernon Dupree. I wonder what Vernon's father was like? They have Vernon's father's portrait on a wall on one of the sets but I don't know more than that he founded Fairmont Crest. Okay to get back on point: The Kennedys were considered golden in the 1950s and 1960s. After President John Kennedy was assassinated, his brother Senator Robert Sr. ran for President several years later, but was assassinated on the campaign trail. Then Senator Ted was expected by the family to run for President but... Then there was Senator Ted Kennedy and the Chappaquiddick incident that happened in 1969. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chappaquiddick_incident After a party, Ted Kennedy was supposedly driving a woman to her hotel, the car went off a bridge into the water, and he escaped but she didn't. He said that he dove in to try to rescue her but couldn't. He didn't notify the police until the next morning. She was later found dead in the car. There was lots of confusion about what really happened, with various cousins trying to "fix" the situation before he went to the police. This was a few months before his dad Joseph Sr. died of old age, so the cousins did the fixing. Huge thing in the news back then! Ted had to drop out of the race for President. He managed to keep his Senate seat. He ran for President again years later but wasn't nominated. It ended up working out because Ted remained working as a Senator for many years doing positive things. I had wondered from watching BTG months ago if "Martin's secret" would be his Chappaquiddick. In some ways it is, in that it has (for now) delayed his plans to run for President. But this is very different. Ted Kennedy's behavior was odd. Did he really try to rescue her? Why did he drive off the bridge? He seems at fault for this but we'll never really know what happened that night in Chappaquiddick. Certainly his negligence led to her death. And he spent too much time dealing with friends/cousins/lawyers/fixers before going to the police. Martin did nothing wrong. Other than losing control and beating with the tire iron too long. But Martin wasn't drunk or partying or in questionable company. He was defending his grandfather from horrible men who had a gun. But Martin let his grandfather call Bill and Marcel to "fix" the situation and keep it quiet. Ted Kennedy ended up giving a statement on TV. I wonder if Martin will eventually do the same.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
I'm not convinced that there needs to be a twist. To me, the story stands on its own. So the end of the episode is Vernon telling Anita that Martin is drowning. But actually I think that Martin is finally taking charge of his life. I'm curious to see how much of this is revealed to Jacob and how he'll react -- and if he learns of his father's involvement.

The flashback showed both bad guys. Kenny-before-plastic-surgery must be the one without the hat, because he's the one who said "Let's see what color's your money."

GH: Actress returning
I see now that in the tvinsider article they did this: The first and third pics were from Getty Images. The second pic is from the second Disney/ABC photographer Christine Bartolucci. Still, the article headline seemed a bit misleading. Now I see that there is a little label atop the second picture: "Exclusive first look at Kelly Thiebaud back on GH this week below!" And they meant "below this little label".
