  1. I usually love this show but I thought those scenes were horrible and I was *very* negative.
  2. That cringe line delivery: "it's incredible how much we see everything exactly the same, like a real couple"
  3. Kat: "That would really be... something."
  4. July 10, 2025, Michael Fairman interviewed a bunch of Emmy nominees in a live stream that lasted three hours and 26 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2AvlYn9_dA Greg Rikaart comes on at 57:19. Before discussing his Emmy nomination, they discuss the Soapy podcast. Rikaart: We launched this week, and it was a really big success, and it's been a lot of fun. We did 13 episodes. Well, you know, it's fun talking about . . . Fairman: Now you know what it's like to do interviews. Rikaart: Well, the learning curve was hard and fast. You realize that what you do is hard work. The amount of work we have to do leading up to an episode surprised me. Fairman: And you shot them all -- the first 13 -- in probably limited amount, a tight amount of time. Rikaart: We did. We shot three shows a day for three days; and then our last day was four episodes which was -- that was a humdinger, that was a lot of work. Because they're not. . . they're edited down to about an hour, but some of them have gone *way* longer. ------------------------ It looks like all the podcast episodes that will drop through most of September -- have already been recorded.

  6. Finally watched the parts of today's episode that I'd missed earlier. The June/Regina stuff was interesting. I started to rewatch the entire episode as I often do, but it was all so terrible that I had to turn it off. This is the first time I ever disliked an episode so much. So I have disliked one episode out of one hundred episodes. That's 99% like and 1% dislike. Not bad!
  7. TMG is a great actress. But the character of Leslie has become repetitive. Leslie's not fun anymore for me. I understand that villains can drive story, but I can handle villains in short arcs only and not as part of the main canvas -- that's how I feel about just about every show on daytime and primetime. When the villain is a regular in the places where my heroes frequent, the drama is diluted. Also I think Leslie has become a camp caricature.
  8. Thanks. That must have been one of the Leslie scenes I muted. I've muted her scenes in the past few episodes she's appeared in.
  9. Who spilled to Ted that Kat sabotaged Eva regarding the clinic credential? I guess it was Tomas?
  10. I missed the first 20 minutes. The remaining 40 minutes were just awful. Andre/Ashley: horrible. Leslie-Dana is annoying and has become unwatchable for me. The Joey storyline is icky. I really hope the earlier parts of the episode are better.
  11. These Ashley/Andre scenes are cringe. Just ewwww. Tomas is ewwww
  12. I missed the first 20 minutes of today with the June scenes. Will catch it again on the west coast feed.
  13. Joey and Vanessa are gross. I really hope Vanessa is playing Joey and not actually interested in him personally anymore.
  14. I am so tired of Leslie. I am now muting her scenes.
  15. Per Michele Val Jean in Deadline: Articulettes reunion will air Friday August 1st and Monday August 4th https://deadline.com/2025/07/beyond-the-gates-creator-michele-val-jean-interview-1236472528/ Image credit Quantrell Colbert for CBS via Deadline Full-sized image (3806px wide) here: https://deadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/3083484_1597b.jpg

  17. Deadline article contains spoilers. Decide to read or not depending on if you want to see spoilers. Non-spoiler info from deadline: DEADLINE: I want to jump right into a storyline that’s been so provocative — the one involving Martin [played by Brandon Claybon] and how he was attacked on that deserted country road. An offensive slur was used by his attackers. VAL JEAN: I decided to go down that road because I wanted to show something that happens that you’d never see on daytime. It happens. It’s like people being recast. It happens. I’m telling a story from the Black experience. A lot of it based around a Black family who is privileged and wealthy, but at the end of the day, they can still be accosted on the side of the road by racists. It’s shocking and I meant it to be very shocking, and I think production and the actors did an amazing job. It was controversial, but I don’t think controversial is wrong. It’s hard to be that right now. And so I give all credit to the network for standing behind it and believing in it. And as far as whether stories like that kind of live on in the psyche of this world that I’ve created, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some repercussions down the line. Martin still has a lot of healing to do because he’s sublimated so much of that because he had to. Nicole still has a lot to work out because she’s so angry at being left out, and she feels like she could have helped him and her role as a psychiatrist. Vernon and Anita, even though they felt like they did what they had to do at the time by covering it up, are now feeling the repercussions of that. Now another guy is dead and now they’re in debt to Joey Armstrong. So yeah, the tentacles do live on. DUCKSWORTH: The Martin storyline is just real. And that’s what we’re looking to give our viewers. Realness on every level. DEADLINE: Maryland is right next to DC. Will we ever know who their president is in this world? VAL JEAN: No. I want to stay away from politics in the show as much as I can with a Black congressman, but I want this show to be entertaining, not polarizing.
  18. Yes and Deadline refers to the exiting writer as "Frank Carlivati". MVJ: Ron, Bob Guza and Chris Dunn all agreed to come on to help me launch the series. Now they’re off to do other things. There’s no animosity. I’m so grateful to have had their knowledge and their humor and their contribution, and I can’t say enough about them.

  20. Sometimes it seems like they're using a Y&R model for their main public places. BTG: Fairmont Crest Country Club. Y&R: Genoa City Athletic Club main floor dining area. BTG: Uptown (bar) Y&R: the "Neil Winters Jazz Lounge". (Located in the Genoa City Athletic Club lower level) BTG: Orphey Gene's Soul Kitchen (diner) Y&R: Crimson Lights (coffee shop) Y&R: "Society" (restaurant) summertime set, some years, not every year: Y&R: "Dive Bar" (rooftop swimming pool atop the G.C. Athletic Club). BTG: I wonder if we will see a summertime set? Maybe next year? We know from character conversations that Bill and Dani once owned a summer residence on the beach in a nearby coastal area.
