Smitty understands why Vernon and Anita made Martin keep the secret, and isn't over it yet but will get there. But Smitty's not forgiving Martin for doing what Vernon and Anita told him to do. I mean that's inconsistent but actually human -- humans have flawed reasoning. That flawed inconsistency is realistic. So, objectively, that's good writing. But I'm annoyed at Smitty nevertheless.

Smitty did see Anita at the country club. They had their own conversation. He told her "you are a goddess", and bowed down. Anita said "You are a saint, Vernon and I owe you an apology" (reference to the Martin secrets) and Smitty acknowedged: "What you did was out of love for my husband. I can't say I'm over it yet, but remembering that will help me get there." Smitty told Martin he wasn't forgiving him, but he did sincerely hug Martin and wished him well before leaving.

Smitty/Anita conversation is great too

Oh wow the Danielle Paige dialogue at the start of the reception is really great. Fast with lots of great quips and references, without being too trendy. Really wonderful and real.

I like the Martin conversations where he acknowledges the parallels -- that it took many years for Anita to make amends regarding Barbara, and to attain forgiveness, but it happened eventually -- and that it might take a long while for Smitty to understand. Not saying whether it should (or shouldn't) take a long while for a Smitty/Martin reconciliation. Just appreciating the in-depth reflections and emotions.

I just caught the last fifteen minutes of the episode on the east coast feed live. Loved Anita at the end on the stage talking to Barbara's picture. Will catch the entire episode on the west coast feed.

I followed SON for many years before actually joining. The Y&R scoops @mikelyons posted that I read, turned out to be accurate. Someone asked his source on JFP's return and he replied that he is the source, which was good enough for me. Of course, 99% of the time, that's not a thing here at SON -- in that usually a documented source is required and posters are not considered accurate insiders, but in this case he really was the source.

It's confusing because the contract cast are usually alphabetical by surname. Yet Wagner is listed after JM Woods. That is why I made the *assumption* back in May that Yamada was offcontract. But I was assuming without knowing -- and assumptions can be wrong! Clearly Yamada never left. I don't know anything behind the scenes. I am curious about this.

In my opinion, it should always be the plan that the villain be present for 3-month or 6-month arcs and then disappear. Coming back periodically every two years for a completely unexpected arc to stir up trouble. If a villain is hanging out with the heroes in regular public places year round, then it defies logic and dilutes the drama. I strongly dislike the notion that if an actor does a good job playing a villain, then "we have to keep them around!". I feel that if the actor is doing a good job as a villain, then let them play the strong villain who gets defeated and leaves periodically. Watering the villain down doesn't honor the actor. Making a villain be someone that you joke with at the coffee shop -- dishonors the entire canvas of the show.

Friday's episode ended with Anita announcing - but before we continue with the concert, there is something . . . I'm speculating that Monday will continue from that point, with the ladies doing a tribute to former Articulette Barbara, before continuing singing.

AMELIA: Oh, she’ll recover! Where’s Nate (Sean Dominic)? No, I’m just kidding. (Laughs). I think, Victoria and Cole had good closure and in the writing as well. There was a couple of episodes where she had to get to say goodbye to the picture a couple times and then be like, “You’re not suffering anymore and you’re in a better place.” I think Victoria’s going to need some time to heal, and then in typical fashion, we’ll find her with someone else in town. Fairman: Everybody is believing it will be Nate who will pick up the pieces, as you just mentioned. AMELIA: It might surprise the fans. Fairman: So, you had mentioned that there will be a new man in Victoria’s life, but do you ever get to make suggestions to the powers-that-be, or do you have to just play that into your scenes if you’d like to work with somebody? AMELIA: That’s a really good question. I don’t ask for anything. It’s not my job. The other day I had a scene with Jason Thompson (Billy) and I’m like, “Huh, I haven’t had a scene with him in a while!” I mean, we always play love beneath our relationship though, because he’s the father of Victoria’s kids and we’ll always love each other, and I know Jason always plays it too. Fairman: Do you think if Claire goes off the deep end that Victoria would figure it out and know what’s going on … or do you think she will be in the dark? AMELIA: I loved when Hayley first came on and she was kind of fooling us all in the office as Claire. I think her personality layered that really well, because Hayley is kind of cut and dry when she talks in real life. It kind of lends itself to that sort of a story. I was disappointed when they started making her so good and, “I love kids.” I’m like, “No! I want you to be bad. You were so good, bad!” It’s more interesting. I hope they go back that direction. I think when they do, Victoria will figure it out, obviously, but it’ll probably take her awhile, because Victoria’s always a day late and a dollar short. But they write that! (Laughs) Fairman: Victoria’s a shrewd business woman. She can outsmart and maneuver people. However, in her home life, she’s not so much! AMELIA: Hey, you know what?
