VAULT UPDATE Hi everyone! I am happy to report that I got a new OneDrive account set up and migration of the Vault is now complete! I've just sent out link invitations to people who have previously requested direct access. The links in my signature have now been updated. You may now upload again, as usual - hopefully I won't have to do this process again in a while haha. Please spread the word to those who might now know this yet. Thanks! Brad

VAULT UPDATE: As it turns out, the storage on the vault has been reduced from 5TB to 1TB. One of the joys of purchasing OneDrive Business Accounts through eBay is dealing with kinks like this 😭. Let me purchase another one, and I will migrate everything there. It'll take some time to migrate the data as I'm limited to my own internet speed (thankfully I have fiber internet). Someone please let Nikki know that the vault link will be changed. I'll keep everyone updated here and on the Y&R Old Articles topic. Thanks for your patience!

Oof, I was worried something like this would happen! Let me investigate. Worst case scenario is I have to migrate everything to a new vault but I've been keeping an active backup. It might take me a few days - hang tight everyone! Update: As it turns out, the storage on the vault has been reduced from 5TB to 1TB. Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Hey everyone, I have news! Someone was kind enough to reach out to me via email regarding the September 1993 episode I was looking for - the community pulled through again! My way of giving back is that I've created a GL folder in the Y&R/B&B vault! If you're not familiar, access details are in my signature. That being said, I will be much less involved in contributing as I'm not nearly as tuned into GL as I am Y&R/B&B. I also had concerns that the 5TB storage limit might prove to be challenging - however, I'll continue to monitor the storage room. I'll separate the vaults when the time is necessary. Please keep the same folder structure as the Y&R/B&B folders and organize by decade, year, and if necessary, month. Happy uploading everyone!

LMFAO Bazinga! LivingTV (I think they were the UK) cut the scene where Morgan chewed up a post-it note and spit it back into Taylor's face, and Ten (Australia) cut out Megan blasting Brooke for not using protection when she slept with Deacon (one of my favourite exchanges I could only live if I drown out the voice of a Polish dubber haha). Also, a silent lurker on the board had this to contribute to the vault, many thanks! Watching with earbuds or alone is recommended for this one...

Thanks for setting the record straight, @anon4520! I'm so sorry some people were quick to jump the gun on you for a message that I felt was easily misconstrued. Capturing and digitizing is an arduous process, so I get that some people may feel territorial about their contributions and nobody likes getting their toes stepped on, but jumping to conclusions and indignantly steamrolling other people before hashing it out is the worst way to go about this. We need to remember some people aren't as good at others at articulating their messages since we all come from different walks of life. I really hope this experience doesn't alienate you from contributing in the future, and I hope this experience is kind of a wake up call for everyone here not to react so quickly. We are not putting ourselves at an advantage by prematurely pushing people out of our community, and the only way we can have the most complete archive we can is if we all band together and contribute collectively and of course, spread the word. Remember, the real enemy in this fight are the laws of Copyright and Distribution, not the fans. On that note, I thank everyone again who has made their contributions to date. I echo @BoldRestless' sentiments about this being a community that should pay things forward. This isn't possible without all of you. If you wish to have your identity attached to your upload instead of uploading as a guest, please shoot me an email so I can set you up as a registered user.

Hey everyone, and Guest SON Board viewers. I've added my email address to my signature so people can reach out to me and I can have them added as a registered user to the Vault. This will attach their name/email address to the files they upload should they choose not to remain anonymous.

Vault admin here. It's no fun when someone takes credit for something you've done, but I think what happened, while unfortunate, was a knee-jerk reaction to what might have easily been an issue of semantics, so it's very possible the message may have been misconstrued. I don't think it's fair to immediately be pointing fingers and jumping all over people before they've been given a chance to explain themselves. I've checked the message board history of the user and they in the past seem to have contributed to the vault, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt. I'm hopeful for the two ends of the parties to resolve the issue on their own. Please give people the chance to explain themselves before you take out your pitchforks. The last thing we need is real-life drama surrounding the drama of our favourite shows.

I'm super late to the party but I just found out about Bandstandmike's YouTube takedown! 🤬🤬 I had half a mind to archive them but I never got around to it. I'm so sad. I haven't really followed GL but it was a goldmine of Cynthia Watros as Annie and the Maureen Bauer death story. Now I'm contemplating opening up a vault for GL episodes, like I have with Y&R + B&B. Hopefully between all of us we can recover much of that collection and perhaps get Mike motivated again to upload there instead.

Anybody Ever Write their own Soap?
So... Back when I was in Grade 12, one of my ComTech classes required us to create a video of some sorts. So I decided to go overkill and try my hand a producing a 3-episode soap opera. It was called "Retribution" and it was a continuation of a Trailer Project that I had done for a previous class in Grade 11 in Drama/Soap Opera Form. It was a lot of work and quite frankly, I just ripped off the 2001 Tricia Dennison Story from the Young and the Restless lmao. But at the crux of it, I really wanted to recreate some of the beats, the camera movements, and the music direction that Y&R was known for back in the day. (Here's the only one I feel worth taking a peek at. Please be gentle with the acting, wewere not professionals haha.) Then back in third year University, I wanted to revive the project as a continuation of the storyline 6 years later - but as young adults it was very had to coordinate and schedule everything, so the project never got finished. Below is one of the scenes that I've managed to tape and edit haha. Fast forward to today, at the beginning of the year I've been taking acting classes and a handful of us got pretty close during COVID since we've been having weekly Zoom parties. We've been itching to have some kind of acting-related project done, so last week was "Pitch Week". Everyone pitched an idea, but as usual, I went overkill and had a PowerPoint done. In essence, I wanted to create a web series chronicling the lives and drama of Millennials living in a trendy urban neighbourhood (keep it simple and not too complicated as that would be an increase in time and money LOL). I came up with the characters, the "A" story, the "B" story, and the "C" story, the general outline of the Pilot, where we would be able to tape, and what I wanted the show to look and sound like (which of course is 1999-2001 era Y&R). I called it "CityPlace: The Web Series" after a modern neighbourhood in downtown Toronto and I drew inspiration mainly from Season 1 Melrose Place since the premise is very similar. Unfortunately they decided it woudn't be fair to the others to cast a vote then and there since I've pretty much skewed the playing field LOL so this week they're going to develop their pitches even further. TL;DR, yes I've dabbled a little in soap/drama writing. 😅
