  1. I never was interested in Nurse Amy II, but I could almost sort of get behind Mac rechristening Jake's the Floating Rib per the 50th anniversary. That said, you look at the Jake's that various characters populated in the '90s and 2000s and the new Floating Rib came off real cheesy by comparison. In its day Jake's was a real dive and the atmosphere was thick. So no, I don't mind that change either. What I wouldn't mind but what will never happen: Someone in the family reopening Luke's Club, in honor of the somehow apparently-actually-dead Luke.
  2. He was also an international sex symbol, lol. He was in every ad and in a ton of magazines, music videos, whatever from here to Mars for much of the '90s. People who did not watch GH knew his face. I don't even like ASJ but if you're going to recast a presence like that, get a guy who at least vaguely resembles the original performer. But yes, character-wise how long can anyone talk about Karen and Stone over and over? As a return on paper, Jagger is a lead balloon to me unless he was coming in for a brief arc and leaving again. This guy, I doubt very much they are committed to him but I think FV and C&D were just throwing shít at the wall again and seeing what stuck.
  3. Exactly. Ron especially used to drop this shít into dialogue clumsily and expect me to clap like a trained seal. I'm not that easy. Wagger is the same issue. He's utterly miscast, the character has no reason to return and the story is the same tired business we've watched with Sonny and other adversaries for decades.
  4. Or, alternately: Why should Jagger be back? We are allowed to critique this show because it's pretty clear most of us care a lot about it. "Using history" doesn't matter to me when it is just about sprinkling in fanservice brownie points in dialogue like RC used to do a lot; he didn't understand that I don't feel satisfied with the current show if they happen to randomly mention some Wikipedia data point from a story that aired 30 years ago. And I also don't have to support what I feel is a very bad recast of a needless old character who doesn't need to be on the show anymore, especially when the canvas is already stuffed full of way too many characters as is. If you feel differently, fine. But none of us are required to be big fans of Wagger or his storyline or these brief, plot-driven scenes talking about Sonny and Karen just because they mentioned the Paradise Lounge, or because he or any other new actor seems to be a nice person IRL. That doesn't mean Wagger should be on the show or that his story is any good. You might see someone on Twitter or something but none of us actually know these people. If you can't tell the difference between that critique and blanket hate, that's your issue, it's not ours.
  5. The Dex/Joss makeout scene looked crazily stilted and awkward to me this time. They usually don't exactly have that problem lol. It felt very very choreographed and awkward, she was clumsily turning away from him then back much less organically than you usually see actors (particularly ones who give the vibe they're fúcking) on these shows pull off. I guffawed BTW when he just poked his head out from behind that shed or whatever. Joss is on a desperate quest to find Dex only to find him the first place she goes. I thought it was a dumb fantasy sequence at first, like it can't be that easy. But it typifies the dramatic inertia this show has often had for years. The less said about BLQ's latest Blofeld/Chairmao Mao floral ensemble the better. This mess with Setton can't go on forever.
  6. They were playing those sounds for years even at the docks set in the '90s and 2000s IIRC. I miss that set.
  7. Michael needs a long break IMO. LA is also too young for Lucky. And Dex can go. Nor do I need a reason for Wagger to hang around. But if Days somehow left him unemployed in a few years, sure, I suppose Adams would be a decent choice for Michael in a pinch. I'd rather we just cull the dozen of unnecessary characters.
  8. He really is. He might be a decent Michael recast I suppose, but I frankly don't need the Days threads ethos coming in here. He and Dex also look like twins, and I don't need one of Dex let alone two.
  9. I just question the wisdom of getting into the weeds about a TV news interview re: whether or not Eva LaRue thinks her character is homophobic and should be cancelled for it or not, when she's been on for exactly two days. This is not that serious.
  10. The first step is admitting that Wagger and his Manson-like gaze are not real and cannot hurt you.
  11. I'd like to put in a veto for more Wagger or Wagger-related subsidiaries.
  12. No, he was doing it to goad Wagger.
  13. I've never seen that promo. Top quality work from them as always. IIRC the talented Sarah Phelps wrote those scenes though I may be wrong. Den's return had such promise early on, it's a shame it got torpedoed mostly by outside factors IMO. I still miss him and think fondly of that story.
  14. It was a vile thing to do, but I believe he also told Dante he only did it to get Wagger to take a swing at him and get him in trouble.
  15. I did notice that and thought the same. Besides, Natalia on GL was such a drip.
  16. Which is why you can cite it in the Classic thread as being about that. 5-8 videos posted per page like today and the other day slows everything down. Unless you think a poster won't know how to find these clips in another thread. Is that something you're concerned about, John?
  17. Put it in the Classic thread, not here please.
  18. Not only was she apparently attempting to quote me, but I was referring to ranger1g's commentary criticizing Eva LaRue... based on a screencap of Donna on a comments section of another website, on a clickbait article that no one actually posted here. If you guys need me I'll be nursing a Japanese beer; it's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere.
  19. Yeah, I just looked myself (and if someone - not you - wanted to have a discussion about it, they should've posted the actual 'article'). Soaphub appears to be another of the many soulless clickbait vacuum sites that just take clips or interviews from elsewhere. This one is trying to make an article out of ELR being interviewed by an ABC news affiliate on YouTube and tosses in a few random quotes. There is no discourse to be had here. As for Donna, anything I have to say to her I have zero problem saying to her face. I haven't frequented more than two public soap forums in over a decade.
  20. Archived article here.
  21. Can't imagine why I'm not going to judge poor Eva LaRue being interviewed about her character's point of view (which the soap media often ask the actors to do in character) based only on a screencap of a comments section that was posted so someone can accuse me of attacking them on some other forum, lol.
  22. He's clearly not fit to serve for much longer.
  23. I am counting the weeks til the big changeover.
