I don't either. It may be tied in the way the polling is being done which understandably makes many of us tense (me included), but I haven't been convinced it'll actually be that close on the night for quite some time. People doing these doomsday scenarios of barely ekeing out a victory with 276 EV or something are deep in their own nightmares to me. I'm tenser than I was in '20 or '22, but a lot of that has to do with the unusual circumstances of this cycle and the heightened threat post-J6. I've suspected for some time this may look something like the midterms on the night of and we may put it away much earlier than anyone in media had expected. I think most of that is natural tightening towards the end of a race, and not that surprising given Harris has only been in the race since the end of July. I also think the polling underreports or overweights a lot of groups on account of the assumption of Trump Magic, and early voting that is not going to happen the same way as in the middle of a pandemic. The rest is PTSD Dems or angry Twitter leftists bedwetting over the One Weird Trick they would do with her campaign instead. Of course I can think of things I would do differently, but I see little serious change in that campaign since two months ago and it's been an insanely rushed timetable.

It depends on exactly when she auditioned. If we're talking about super close to Y&R it could've been either the Tina recast in summer '94 or (this is my personal suspicion) Angela Holliday in summer '93. I'm sure there's other time intervals or even potential characters from that era but those are the first that come to mind. I suppose she could've also been up for the now infamous Blair racewashing recast (late '93).

Me too. Edward and co. were just too accepting of it. Honestly right now I'm 50/50 that Holly is straight up lying to Sasha for her own reasons. Maybe she doesn't want Cody with her daughter for another purpose, because who exactly would they be pairing either of them with unless this is short term angst? This would also allow them to once again cement the odious pairing of Robert and Diane by painting Holly as the forever deceiver. There is also the fact that (forgive me if this has been mentioned) Sasha swapped in her own hair sample to mask Cody's DNA connection to Mac maybe a year ago. Yet Sasha's showed no Scorpio DNA.

I hated Ethan being forced as Luke's child (something I feel certain TG insisted upon despite several different creative teams feinting at making him Robert's) and I hate the infidelity retcon they crafted for it, but there was a real interval of time where it would work. Here, just like with Dominique and Mac there isn't so far as I can tell. It's just FV and CVE and co. not caring much about the timeline. Holly was onscreen in story for almost all of 1992 to the summer of '93. Like Dominique, there was no viable interval in which she could've carried a child to term. Unless they claim she pulled an Adam Chandler and jacked some of that Scorpio jizz from a sperm bank on her way outta town, which while I could buy the more conniving Holly of the last 20+ years doing it, would be once again ruinous to her character.

It is remarkable how off the wall Bret Baier was on Fox tonight - if you don't watch the whole thing you may not see, but he was filibustering and interrupting Harris even before she could begin to delve into his first question. The story emerging in media seems to be not just that Harris was strong and held her own/did well, but that Baier was way out of line. I wonder if this will ever trigger a reevaluation from the Jake Tappers of the world (or Stelter, who was impressed with Harris) who used to ferociously defend the supposed 'old line' journalists at Fox News.

It's just a desperate attempt to keep another past their sell by date FV/CVE, etc. era character on perpetually. I couldn't care less. Adding a bloodline or pulling a recast on a pointless hire or tired character does nothing. The larger Holly situation doesn't bother me. She's been pretty regularly guesting for the better part of 15 years off and on and they never have done anything as ruinous with her as the original monkey virus story, people seem to enjoy her stints. Holly is not a favorite of mine but it gives Emma Samms work in a difficult time.
