  1. I thought they first started doing this near the anniversary in 2013. I didn't like it then either.
  2. Chamberlain and Kilmer are both huge blows. I'm so glad Chamberlain got one last turn in Twin Peaks Season 3, and that Kilmer knew how much he was valued in his time - not just in his cameo in Top Gun: Maverick, but for so much of his works. I grew up with him in Willow, among other things like Heat. I highly recommend seeing Kilmer in Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, probably his last great performance opposite Robert Downey Jr. just pre-Iron Man.
  3. Robo-Andre is hotter. Sorry.
  4. I honestly found the scenes of Georgie clobbering and bullying her unintentionally hilarious - pure ham from both actors and a good representation of what JFP quickly brought to the show. But yes, Rachel was treated horribly after Ellen Bethea left, and it stayed that way til Bethea fortunately came back (and then Daphnee Duplaix took over too briefly in 2009). And I do think it was racist for several years running.
  5. The GOP has won the FL special election by a much, much tighter margin than they went for Trump. That's good news for down the road, but it doesn't cut to the heart of the issue which is that just winning a couple future cycles is not going to be enough to undo what is being done to the country, not just institutionally but in the information space and how it's poisoned voters. That work will take a massive new media investment by Dems and seriously constraining the tech oligarchs. And it will be a generational project most of us will probably not see the final or full result of in our lifetimes. But hopefully someone will get started.
  6. Don't rain on his parade.
  7. Dani Dupree does not need to go work at the country club, lol. This is not the summer beach season on Saved by the Bell. Only way Dani gets that kind of job is if she ends up killing or seriously harming people with her drinking and ends up doing public service. Which is possible! Dani is a hot mess of a character, but that is good soap. And I'm sure she can be humbled in many ways. But I'm more interested in her next chapter, which should be bigger and bolder given her career history.
  8. Awfully important, especially on the heels of today's horrific news about the CDC/FDA.
  9. She doesn't need to be doing service jobs. That's not the character. I'm not suggesting she try modeling again in her 40s, but she is a power player, not her sister. So what? That's good soap.
  10. Dani is too big a personality and too much of a power player in her rich family to just go work at the country club.
  11. Beverlee McKinsey has been dead for ages. None of us know her mind. What we do know is on the record, most notably her historic dragging of JFP which has lived in infamy for decades. I highly doubt McKinsey regretted a word of what she said about JFP or how it was taken. As for people's opinions of Alex v. Iris, those subjective takes are valid and don't need to be cleared with anyone else.
  12. I thought she was unbearable, but that's just me.
  13. Another hot take: I do not need LGBT actors (like Arielle Prepetit) to all play gay, but Jacob and Hayley have heat and Jacob and Naomi are weak. Further the tough energy Naomi has brought opposite her father is the first time I've been interested in her. Let Naomi lez out and let Hayley get it on with her ex. In BTG tradition, it will return next week 25 years old. It's an Irna Phillips callback.
  14. I will tune in for today's show, but I shouldn't have to only come back for special events and dead veterans.
  15. I'm aware of that, but none of us were privy to that until today.
  16. Claybon was improving last week in fits and starts. Hope it continues today. I'll do my 1 month report card in this thread in a day or two. Hot take: If we need to add more Spicy Whites to offset the somnambulant Ashley and Derek, why not the newly-free
  17. Genie is right that she doesn't have nearly enough scenes with JJ.
  18. It's those veterans that keep me coming back and that history. I am not watching much at present but I wish they were given half the creative energy they deserve and put out.
  19. I'll third this. Fortunately in these years and I'd argue in the '90s, they seemed to manage to thread the needle fairly well between the grandiosity of the Dallas-mandated Buchanans and the show's original streetwise core of outsiders and troubled people. Was it sometimes an awkward fit, sure, but in what I've seen of these early years (and a lot has fortunately become available in the last decade) they managed to have characters like Asa, Bo, Karen, Marco, Edwina, Jenny, Katrina, etc. coexist fairly successfully side by side. In part because the more ground-level or troubled characters would puncture and contrast the Buchanan dynasty (as it did again in the '90s IMO). That and the talent present in the core Buchanan clan is why I can't begrudge them.
  20. Yep. The extended version on the long end credits on Paramount is especially good.
  21. Thanks! I have seen the Asa Rap before and it is a sight to behold.
  22. "The You-Nigh-Ted Stayttesss of Am-Nee-Sheeya!"
  23. The only one I could immediately find offhand is one of Maggie posing as Pat and she doesn't seem to let the mask slip. I too am fairly sure there are others but I can't dig 'em up right now. Anyway, this is a topic for the OLTL thread.
