  1. Isn't that Rod Arrants with Beth Maitland in the first photo? Love it!!
  2. Yup, and she hasn't aged much from her SB days!!!
  3. When Ron and Frank were still doing decent stories!!!
  4. That's about all one can do!!
  5. God bless her!!! Many happy returns to Ms. Flood.
  6. Mary Joan Negro was in several L&O episodes in its early years. She was a dynamo.
  7. Thank you for all that info!! I appreciate it.
  8. I never knew she had appeared on that show. Thanks!!
  9. Do you think the story involving Morgan in 1982 would have worked had Kristen Vigard still been in the role, or was the story itself so bad that no one could have saved it?
  10. Both episodes were terrific, with major events happening. The part I really lost it at was Mr. Bunker towards the end of the second episode. What Matt said to John after leaving Mr. Bunker's room really said it all.
  11. I have to say I think Nikki's wedding gown from 1984 is one of the prettiest I've ever seen in a soap.
  12. Here's an anecdote from the 1984 book Inside the Soaps, by Paul Denis: In 1983, the actors and crew of Y&R decided to discourage swearing in the studio, so they fined each swearer 25 cents per profanity. After three months, $500 was amassed and a Foul Mouth award went to Eric Braeden, who had cussed $50 worth. Steven Ford, who hadn't been caught swearing once, got the Clean Mouth award.
  13. Thank you!!! Yes, I remember reading that Joe Riley brought Clint to Llanview to run the paper after his passing, and wanted him to marry his soon-to-be widow, Viki - and that at their first meeting, neither Viki nor Clint were impressed with each other.
  14. I couldn't find much info on Kathleen Murray, so I have no way of knowing if she was already ill when she filled in on TD. I am already familiar with the story of Kitty Foyle, having watched the 1940 movie that starred Ginger Rogers in the title role (and won her an Oscar). Also, I missed Bethel Leslie in the second episode. Your assessment of her portrayal of Maggie is right on the money. But I am eager to see Lydia Bruce as well.
  15. Good for her - that's great news.
  16. Thanks. What month did Clint come on, and then Bo? Asa didn't arrive until 1980, right?
  17. Not to mention the numerous writers and producers that followed Lemay and Rauch.
  18. Thank you both for your observations. As much as I have enjoyed Bethel Leslie, I am really looking forward to seeing Lydia Bruce.
  19. I got a kick out of watching the surgical monitor that Steve was working at during the surgery. That equipment was obviously state of the art in 1968 - now it looks positively antiquated!!! Does anyone know how long Kathleen Murray lasted on TD? Bethel's name is still in the credits (Kathleen Murray's isn't, at least not yet.) Also, I've been meaning to ask but keep forgetting. Those of you who watched Lydia Bruce's Maggie - what was she like compared to Bethel's Maggie? Did she have that droll delivery and side eye, or was she warmer and softer? We still have a ways to go before she comes on and I can't find anything of her on YT.
  20. I think so, too. John is really going to take Polly's impending loss hard, and he deserves a good woman to love and who will love him. Why should his cousin Dr. Steve "I love all the women of the world" Aldrich have all the fun? In episode two, we also get our first glance at the first Maggie replacement, Kathleen Murray (who passed away the following year of cancer). The only clue we get that this lady is Maggie is because Miss Murray is wearing the same brown dress with a stripe on it under her lab coat that Bethel Leslie wore in the first episode. No voiceover is heard saying, "Today the role of Dr. Maggie Powers will be played by..." Does Bethel ever come back, or does Lydia Bruce immediately follow Kathleen Murray? I also loved the moment Althea and Nick shared in the lounge following the surgery (the first operation we've gotten to see!) - and it was pure magic. I loved the way Nick looked at her as she left to go back to the clinic. Plus, Gerald Gordon looked pretty good in scrubs!!!
  21. I've looked on various sites, with no luck. I think she was only on once and then Maylo took over.
  22. Who came on the show first - Clint or Bo? I know they first came on in 1979.
  23. See, being torn makes for great storytelling!! Ahhh, what might have been...
  24. Was this when the Randolph twins were in college?
