Yes, she did a very good job. Try to catch "In Memory Of" - she is absolutely heartbreaking, and it is a riveting case. From Ben Stone's protectiveness of her on the witness stand to the support she gets from Dr. Olivet, she doesn't let her fear keep her from helping them nail the bad guy. Of course, the AW alum with the most appearances on the L&O shows has to be Stephen Schnetzer. Once I watched a CI marathon on the CLOO network, and he was on at least two of the episodes they played. LOL

I love that little bit about James Pritchett being eager to try out his new grill. He already had such an Everyman quality as Matt, and apparently he was just a regular family man away from the studio and the craziness of NYC.

Carl, Jeff Yagher is also a sculptor in addition to being an actor - and works on model kits of old movies (like The Fly, Nosferatu, etc.) - and my friend Gary is an artist who designs the cover box art for the models that Jeff sculpts. Gary didn't even know that Jeff had been replaced by Johnny Depp on 21JS until I told him. Now, he regularly teases Jeff about it - all in good fun.

She was in two episodes of L&O. Her first appearance was in the Season 2 episode "In Memory Of" (which also featured another AW alum, Tresa Hughes). This was probably the first time the show had dealt with a cold case (this was back when Michael Moriarty, Richard Brooks and Paul Sorvino were still on). Anyway, MJN does an incredible job as a traumatized young woman who finds her inner strength just in time to help the cops crack the case. Her second appearance was in Season 5's "White Rabbit", which was very early in Sam Waterston's long run on L&O (it was only his fifth episode). Her character was based on Katherine Ann Power. (Also appearing in a small but crucial role is OLTL's Marilyn Chris.) Both are very good episodes, so by all means watch them if you haven't already done so.

Carl, thank you for sharing that interview. Jennifer Cooke has a most interesting soap connection to another actress through her work on V. One of her co-stars on that show was Jeff Yagher (who later played the role of Officer Tommy Hanson in the pilot of 21 Jump Street, only to be replaced by an unknown by the name of Johnny Depp!). Jeff Yagher is the brother of Kevin Yagher, who went on to marry Catherine Hicks.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
Actually, Kathleen Murray's temp run as Dr. Maggie Powers began airing in March of 1968. Does anyone know how long she was on before Bethel Leslie came back (briefly, before the role was permanently recast with Lydia Bruce)?

I know what you mean. I miss Bethel Leslie's fierceness in these scenes, but I don't fault Kathleen Murray at all since she was an emergency temp recast. (I think Bethel had caught the measles and couldn't work at that point.) I wonder if the whole Karen conflict will still be going on when Bethel returns. Also, I hope that we get to see Bill, Ruth and Danny as they adjust to becoming an official family. We all knew how that story was going to turn out, but Bill and Ruth always seemed a bit long in the tooth for me to buy them as parents - even adoptive parents - of a baby. I wonder how much longer they will be on as Bill's sessions with Althea seem to be over and Ruth will most likely give up her job at the hospital to be a full-time mom to Danny. I already like John and Bonnie together, and they are not even a couple (yet). I have a feeling she will be the one to make him forget about one Liz Wilson!!

Thank you, Carl. I can imagine her lawyers would have taken him to the cleaners!!

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Vanessa and Nancy were definitely a rare breed - the matriarchs of their shows who had no children of their own (though both had stepchildren). I can't think of any other female character from that era who fits that bill.

Getting back to John and Bonnie, they were the ones who were at Polly's side when she passed on - and the old gal probably had already known they would be a perfect match. I was also glad that Matt had the brilliant idea of escorting the distraught intern into Nathan Bunker's room to witness his miracle. I swear I almost burst into tears watching that scene, and House Jameson's performance was nothing less than perfect. Awe, joy and thankfulness as the different things were happening. Getting back to John Rice, I'm glad Bonnie already knows what a special man he is. Plus, John has already proven that he is a fiercely loyal and honest man with a huge heart - and she was the one to make the first move with the kiss that clearly caught him by surprise. He's not a cad like his cousin Steve!!!

Wasn't one of the actresses Bruce Springsteen's wife before he went after Patti Scialfa?

Thankfully, Maggie said the words to Matt we have all been longing to hear. On the other hand, he still doesn't get it. *shakes head* But Karen knows that now Althea is on to her. Karen the Kooky Kraut may be a lot of things, but stupid she is not. My favorite moment from today's episodes? Dr. John Rice, the shy "little boy doctor", finally gets a kiss. What a sweet moment that was.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Yes, she was. As the show's longest-running cast member and mother figure, Ann Flood carved out a niche all her own on in the annals of daytime drama. It's a shame she never found another long-running gig on another soap (though she did play against type as a villainess in the last few weeks of SFT in 1986), though I believe she chose to eventually retire from show biz.
