  1. Delilah, Phoebe, and Victoria all have such exaggerated chins
  2. The clip above got me thinking... It is odd that Margo was not more of a part of any stories about James's resurrections and lost children over the years. Writers always tied James stories to Barbara, but Margo was a key figure in his lore.
  3. Yes, awhile ago someone posted scenes from Claire Malis's stint as Dorian. She had a scene with Peter where they discussed the origin of the portrait. Of course, it was a different library set from the one we remember, as well as a different Dorian (and Peter, and Karen...). I am certain someone knows this answer, but in the scene they don't refer to the home as Llanfair which makes me wonder if the reference came later once Asa bought a named estate? But, I guess estate names could be its own thread. I adore when people on soaps live in manors with names, so I always name my apartments, just for the fun of it.
  4. While I can't know Mo's inspiration for asking, after reading Larry Lau's blogs on his experience with drugs in the 80s, it lead me to believe that the influence was prevalent and drug use may often be the answer as to why certain characters were written off prematurely or good actors were never seen again.
  5. 100% not dead, he's off in Diane-land, where one can pretend to be dead by magically not needing to use ID, a credit card, or a cellphone. Let's face it, in 2022 it is preposterous that even semi-public people could disappear.
  6. I agree with the overall theory that it is a veteran male star, who has been on more than one show, but did not recognize an actress whom he had worked with in the past. The idea that it was an "event" leads me to believe that it happened at the Daytime Emmys, and although La Lucci's appearance was notably "tweaked", I still think she would be recognizable to most, so I am racking my brain to think who else made a return at the Emmys. Initially, I thought it might refer to Charles Shaughnessy not remembering working with Genie Francis on DAYS, but that wouldn't include the detail of it being at an event.
  7. While I wouldn't mind if a murder trial somehow brings out the secrets of Allie and Diane, it is also a shame that Y&R keeps sacrificing all of their older potential romantic leads leaving only Jack and Victor.
  8. It was disgraceful for Sen. Chaney to compare republican mouthpieces Sarah Matthews and Cassidy Hutchinson who six months earlier than January 6th stood by while Trump ordered police to gas protestors in order to have a photo op with an upside down bible to oppose Black Lives Matter, and are now auditioning for The View, with Shayne Moss and Ruby Freeman who volunteered their time in order to help their community exercise their right to vote and were slandered by the President.
  9. My theory is that it was someone in a Sarah mask, which will enrage the fans
  10. After today's episode it looks like Lynda may have jumped the gun, but also may be correct? Either way I am still surprised she was allowed to publish it online and in newspapers, and has never retracted nor commented on the story
  11. Given the limited range that we've observed between RSW's performance on DAYS, AMC, and The Price is Right, one suspects it was not a huge hindrance.
  12. To preface, I am fascinated by soap costume and set design, so this picture of Rachel and Carl in New York sent me down a rabbit hole. Presuming it was taken during Rachel and Carl's romance in New York period, this would have been in 1993. Which means that Margarita Delgado, who started in 1985 as an assistant and then was promoted to lead costume designer in 1987, and was nominated for a daytime Emmy award the year the photo was taken, was responsible for the look. However, when JFP took over in 1994, Margarita left for ATWT where she won the Emmy for the next five years in a row. Looking through photos online, Rachel's look did not change dramatically after Ms Delgado's departure. However, it is interesting to see how the 90s affinity for minimalism really modernized both Carl and Rachel, and kept them looking as viable romantic leads, as opposed to grandparents, like how Ada or Liz were dressed at the same age. A NYT article on Fall 1993 fashion trends noted that Edwardian inspired jackets with frog closures (those black loop-to-loop things on Rachel's coat) were very on-trend and seen in the collections of everyone from YSL to Anna Sui. https://www.nytimes.com/1993/04/02/news/review-fashion-from-anna-sui-dandies-and-dolls.html I'll leave the discussion of the questionable appeal of Carl's ponytail to another day.
  13. I agree in concept, and having lived near the fictional address for most of my late 20s, I watched it religiously, but upon reflection I have some thoughts. 1. An inherent weakness in setting a soap in an apartment complex is that there's no opportunity for stories about upward mobility without "islanding" the characters. Amanda is a perfect example. When she bought the building it made sense that she wanted to be close to Billy, but, in reality, after two months without off street parking and central air any person wealthy enough to buy the complex would have hightailed it out of there as soon they had to exchange quarters with Jake for the laundromat. 2. It is a known fact that in Los Angeles once someone moves to Malibu (or anywhere west of the 405 freeway) you will not maintain a relationship with that person. It takes 75-90 minutes to drive from West Hollywood to Malibu on a good day, so nobody is casually dating someone there because they are geographically undesirable. Fans of Vanderpump Rules will recall that once Sheena moved to Marina Del Rey her friends found any excuse not to visit her because the drive is too exhausting. So, it was like setting a soap where half the cast lives in Chicago and the other half lives in Dallas, writers would have to invent increasingly unrealistic ways for them to interact.
  14. I get that soaps are about romance, but there's something awfully regressive about introducing a professional law enforcement specialist one week, and having her in an illicit quadrangle the next week. It seems as if the only purpose of female characters on Days is to be an object of desire.
  15. Scientific American https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/people-in-republican-counties-have-higher-death-rates-than-those-in-democratic-counties/
  16. Now they're tricked people into not only voting against their economic and civil interests, but also their mortality? Proof that voting in federal elections for promises of personal rewards is a myth. We should vote to maintain the rights of everyone. People in Republican Counties Have Higher Death Rates Than Those in Democratic Counties
  17. It is laughable that by the number of times that baby changed caregivers, at the end Eden was still able to recognize her. All babies look so much alike to me that I don't know if I'd be able to go to Paris and be like, "yep that's the one." If the show went on another decade and they SORASed Adriana, it would be fun if Cruz eventually realized that he had been raising some random French kid the whole time.
  18. Can anyone remind me how the Patch as Stefan’s story ended? Because is this a retread of that or is this Bo reincarnated as himself?
  19. I've been think about a theory that I'm not sure holds water but here it goes; there are certain housewives that are good in scenes, but not in confessionals and other who are hilarious in confessionals, but not great when interacting with other cast members. Among the great confessors I would place: Sheree (RHOA), who could forget her tag after "who gonna check me boo?", when she said "whatever happened to customer service?". However, she fails to form any real relationships with her co-stars Brandi (RHUGT) - amusing insights into the motives of her peers, but nuts in every argumentative situation Mary (RHSLC) - a year in closet made her good at talking to the camera, but her scene work is chaotic Among the not-so-great confessionals Porsha (RHOA) - she seems to have nothing to add when interviewed and just recaps the action Ramona (RHONY) barely tolerated the producers asking her questions Rinna (RHOBH) a great pot stirrer with no capacity for introspection
  20. Dakota Johnson and Dakota Fanning may beg to differ
  21. I like when soaps play with ideas like "What would the Ryan boys be like without the influence of Maeve"? which seems to be the inspiration for Dakota. Unfortunately, Jill's amnesia was not only uncreative, but it relied on a change in Jill's hair to indicate her newfound feelings of freedom, leading to the question did she have a head injury or a perm?
  22. Once again there seems to be a disconnect between the writing and prop department. This is a prism and this is a cube I realize there are rectangular prisms, but that's not what the looked like the first time, and it wouldn't refract light in the same way.
  23. I think I've made this point before, but there was never a time when the audience was able to see what attracted Mary to Reg. He was so instantly threatening that it never made sense why Mary stayed with him for so long, but there must have been something that kept together for so many years. In fact, I wonder of Mary was with Reginald longer than she was married to Vince?
