I personally had a stronger objection to Jarly because of Robin. A much stronger objection of Carly in general than Sonny moving on from Brenda because it had been a few years and he did dump Brenda, so it's not like I had high hopes especially with VM being long gone. It does seem disappointing that Jarly just ended like that because there was so much build up, but also fitting. Sonny and Carly was just a solid pairing of two damaged characters who thought they deserved the toxicity of the relationship. To me even through recasts and very questionable stories, Carly has held up as a stronger character. Sonny has gotten so awful and progressively worse. The things that I liked that brought them together the loneliness, the loss, bad childhoods, rejection, being outsiders etc just doesn't exist anymore and that's what drew me to them. And SJB/MB's chemistry. It seems ridiculous to kill Carly with TB. They could have just rested the character for awhile. And I don't think Sonny needed another dead wife.

I remember when TB first appeared thinking she was way too thin as well but I thought she favored SJB is some way and now I am not sure why because they really don't. I do recall that TB was only to be short term and Carly wasn't long for this world so I wasn't really pressed about it. She only started to really get strong with the Michael presumed dead stuff, the Alexis story, faking her own death, the Brenda return, pretty much up until the Panic Room story. Like you said it got really ugly really fast with the Sonny/Sam and Lorenzo/Carly stuff, but I think I am just reiterating points already made. I didn't know SJB's Sonny/Carly were reviled or disliked initially by critics/press. I thought it was immediately a hit because SJB and MB were together! I remember liking them immediately too but that was probably not a normal reaction from the S&B crowd. It made a lot of sense for both characters and the time. I certainly didn't think we'd be dealing with Carson 20 years later but I remember really being into them early on. Idk, I think a lot of people (or at least used to) had fond memories of S&B and were pulling for Jason/Carly to make it work and the initial Sonny/Carly stuff was pretty seedy, but the show had to move on and it seems they caught on fast even if their was some backlash at first. I remember them being named best couple or something in SOD that year.

Okay. I literally thought it was Drake Hogestyn dubbing for Deidre in 1995 as the Devil 🤣 I don't know why but he had a cheesy voice in general and I just assumed that. I was young...

Did it ever sound anything but cheesy? I always thought it sounded cheap back in the day and now. Her eyes/contacts look better this time around.

Love Maison Blanche. I go back and forth all the time about whether that or Aremid is my favorite. I think Maison Blanche pushed more story for multiple people-Stefano's return, Hope's return, Bo/Billie, Tony/Kristen, Peter/Jen, the end of Roman/Marlena etc than Aremid did. I still like the Susan story if only because I thought Marlena/Kristen were gold in the Secret Room. It was clearly the beginning of the end though with John and Marlena being very dumb by not figuring Susan out and the fact that they were clearly in love with one another. There is dragging things out and there is John missing the most obvious social cues every day of his life. The Elvis wedding was like the precursor to the wacky Jonesy stuff. Neither were as funny as JER thought.

Can I have all the characters back? I have plenty I would sacrifice for Austin, Carrie, Will, Sonny, Billie, and Shane lol.

I liked Bill Eckert with Julia. That's probably unpopular. I don't know what's more offensive-hiring Wayne for that role or the use of OGRoman/Marlena flashbacks for that story! I secretly judge Wayne Northrup for accepting the role. SJB definitely had the best material. SJB's Carly was so scrappy and unconventional . So different from the other heroines of that era. Even in TB's era though Carly started to move into a more normal heroine role. LW just completed it. Her lack of chemistry is glaring with both those men, but I do appreciate LW brings more humor to Carly and really seems to always give it 100%. Even if I don't like some character choices I never think she is phoning it in. I could not imagine either one of those ladies as Carly, but I am at a loss at who else I can think of either. Perhaps someone like Cynthia Watros could have pulled it off. Although I wouldn't say she lights the screen up with MB either.

I hope the Devil tortures Tripp after today lol. But it seems to be an anvil that he's next. I honestly don't remember the last time Julie/John interacted. They don't very often at all like in their entire histories. Weren't Ben/Ciara having the same dreams about their kid Bo Jr. like a month ago? Ben is correct, but I can understand Ciara being blindsided by this because he didn't mention it before. I guess they were too busy in bed to talk about their life plans. Also, you guys could adopt? Honestly, I don't care so I don't even know why I brought it up. I thought the MarDevil stuff was good. I just can't take months of it. I clearly couldn't take it in the original story and I am not looking forward to it now.

I don't doubt JFP had something to do with SJB's first departure, but since she returned later I always assumed it was something salvageable when cooler heads prevailed? But I have no idea. SJB seems to have had her struggles and she has had some of the worst roles on daytime soaps it's a shame. Was Sarah not available when TB left? Anyway it's a bummer. Nothing about LW would scream Carly to me even though I know she was what the network always wanted after TB. It does seem like Carson have a lot of stans online (none here I don't think lol), but so did JaSam and they broke them up. It really seemed like GH was onto something with this Mike/Nina/Jason/Sonny stuff and then they made the least soapy choice available.

I know TB pushed for the Alcazar pairing and got hell for it from MB/SBu. Anyhow, I think SJB and TB both jumped the gun on leaving the show. I could see SJB rolling the dice in primetime because she still was young back then, but unfortunately both TB and SJB have been around the block in daytime playing a bunch of lesser characters when we know either would be better than LW's Carly. I am happy TB has a job, but watching her waste away cooking for Rafe on Days is awful. Anyway, it was a long time ago and LW does her Carly thing now, but there are still occasions when I wonder how TB or SJB would have played. I can tell you the Jason/Carly stuff would be a lot better.

I generally think it's ridiculous to bring popular actors back to different roles (I am not even going to touch RH or ME because I am not sure their characters were popular to begin with). Claudia/Kim weren't even twins or doppelgängers. The audience was just supposed to pretend we didn't notice and that's just disrespectful. Claudia had potential, but she got some awful, misogynistic writing and I believe it was Sarah's choice to leave. And Oscar's mom was set up to be such a mystery and it turned out to be Kim? A woman we didn't know or care about lol. And the show didn't even try to re-pair her and MB. So weird. I had forgotten how much I liked SK's AJ and LW's Carly. I even liked him and Liz. What a shame......

I go back and forth on all of them. TB was my favorite in real time because she's the first Carly I liked, but SJB has some really good work when you look back. I just really irrationally hated her so much because she broke up Jason/Robin and I really, really loved Jason/Robin. I swear I was convinced they were an endgame couple and they never even got back together lol. TB/MB just played really good romantic leads together. TB's Carly was definitely softer around the edges, but once Sonny shot Carly in the head I basically lost all goodwill I had towards Sonny/Carly and now I have just grown used to them being together.

I remember hating Christie's hair most days vividly, but it probably wasn't a big deal. I just recall her making a serious of bad hair choices and it was bothersome to me on the show, but I can't find any good pics or vids of it. Lisa Linde played Ali and she was married to James Marsden for years. They have a couple of kids. She hasn't had an acting credit since 2000 so I assume she retired from acting.

The platinum blond bob is the start of the problem. It's acceptable but looks very unhealthy. My true problem is when she dyes her hair a muddy brown color and adds bangs that always look greasy. this whole situation but it looked 10 times worse on the show. I remember sparkly bobby pins and clips and just her hair was a weird mess for those years. Photos are truly not capturing what it was.

Haha haha! I completely forgot Mike left the show and came back to pick up Carrie. I legit thought they left at the same time. I think I was really over Christie and her bad hair* at this point and thought she would return in like 6 months. I was wrong lol. *her hair looks fine in this clip but see 1995-1999 as a reference because oof that hair....

I liked Mike/Carrie, but I honestly felt bad for their hardcore fans. The time they actually have sex they are in a freakin flying bed with "How do I Live" playing in the background. So many years in the making and it's absolutely ridiculous. Haha I was just going to say I think a white horse was involved lol Big send off for Christie who was part of the show her entire life lol

Same. Loved TB's Carly with Sonny. They had the most believable romantic chemistry. SJB/MB were sexy, but TB's Carly was really the best with Sonny overall.

I actually feel like the Carrie/Austin/Sami/Mike stuff went on too long as well. All the other stories went on forever, but Carrie/Austin actually lost all momentum as a couple in the way the other stories didn't. So that was a mistake on JER's part. By the time Austin/Carrie got married most people were rooting for Carrie/Mike. Carrie/Mike left the show together. They had an affair while she was married to Austin. In the end I guess it didn't have much payoff since she was with Austin but I believe Carrie/Mike were engaged and living in Israel for several years off screen.

I think she had already given her notice basically and I think she was tired. She was playing like 45 characters and Kristen really had no where to go once Jarlena reunited. I honestly don't think Dee changed the way she played Marlena until the mid 90's. But I think something was just lost along the way with them chemistry wise. Isabella and Roman would never have fit into Reilly's Days unless they made Isabella a psycho which I could see. I think it's possible for Roman/Isabella to stay on the canvas past the affair and hook up or something as revenge, but they weren't going to be major players in JER's vision. He clearly had tunnel vision on Jarlena and while I could see Isabella as the psycho spoiler, Kristen just works so much better and ED is obviously the much more versatile actress. You really have to appreciate Stefano's dedication to stalking. And also John's dedication to giving Marlena ugly ass jewelry.

Here you go! It was posted on twitter recently. The Vivian stuff was bad and demeaning and it felt like John/Marlena, Carrie/Austin, and Bo/Hope just stalled out. Things happened but not quickly. It took 2 more years for John/Marlena to get married!! And Carrie/Austin had Mike and Sami but it felt like the show was unsure to pull the trigger on the Carrie/Mike stuff. And the Bo/Hope/Billie stuff...............blah. Peter having jungle madness was cool though.

It was sneaky but it was there. When they were in the jungle getting Roman's cure John was delirious and making out with Hope thinking it was Marlena and I was like, nope, nope this seems like trouble. Good thing they didn't try to make that work for several years lol🤣. And it would have been more scandalous if it was Kristen he was making out with, but I just remember Kristen standing in the corner mad about it. They really just wasted Eileen for her last 6 months, but they gave her a good workout for the entire previous year so whatever.

MB/LW truly do lack romantic chemistry, but at the same time I feel like Carson still makes sense? Sonny/Carly have both had so many pairings that it's easy for them to come together. I don't think they are each others great loves, but I don't know where you go at this point with them. I don't want to see MB in another failed romance and the show has really doubled down on them over the years. Although it seems like they might be trying to shake them up now. I honestly would not care if they broke up tomorrow, but I would hope the show had a clear idea where they were headed because if not they will just default back to them again.

Well, I'll give Marlena the pass on this, but not John. It's stupid that John has two nannies anyhow since it appears Belle/Brady live together whether it's with John or Marlena. It doesn't seem like the kids stay apart so John stop wasting money! But I am already at the Possession part where John hires Chelsea who really is underrated. The amount of times John/Marlena were kidnapped/in jail/possessed/etc I assume Chelsea had to put in a lot of overtime and then the poor girl got retconned out of history for the Nanny they briefly brought back that was related to Celeste and not the nanny we saw on the show. Anyhow, I need to stop thinking about Jarlena's childcare decisions lol. It's just more exciting than the Possession I am watching right now. It really does drag in the middle but I am committed! Yes. Most of the main stories ended and then it veered into John/Hope stuff and wasting ED and JOSH TAYLOR as Roman. Jensen Ackles might have been the highlight of that season. I think fake Jack/Jenn were on the run in the circus. Nothing really entertaining happens until "kristen" dies and then Franco's shooting. Everything just sort of stalls with no movement for awhile. COUNT ME IN as a BO/Billie fan. I was so pissed when Alice/Hope/the Devil screwed up their wedding.
