Seeing how Marcy Walker was in real life...I'm still boggled why the GL writers struggled to come up with a character for her. She was funny, self deprecating, and perceptive....easy traits to have infused into Tangie. Liza was a snooty bad girl while Eden was the traditional heroine...so I feel Tangie could have been a sarcastic anti heroine. Alas, it wasn't to be.

The july 4 1984 episode when Danny tells Patty he married Traci was so sad...and knowing what we know now about Patty's fate...the seeds were planted back as far as 1982. The desperation is evident..and we haven't seen episodes that led to Patty leaving (she accidentally caused Traci's miscarriage and she couldn't bear to see Danny's disappointment so she left town..so her mental state was shaky it seems).

I thought adding Tamra back was because the start of filming was going slowly..and than Covid hit..and I'm wondering if some good material was filmed in Quarantine. I know Shannon said she filmed some when she got Covd..an I read the new h Girl got into it with Gina over wearing masks.

Ashley had two romances pre Victor her 1st 3 years..Brian Forbes and Eric Garrison (along with Marc M in 1984). I don't think the close family vibe was at all the east coast soaps. AMC, EON, GL, and AW seemed to have that...even early Loving...but OLTL in the 80s didn't it seems. And ATWT seemed more formal.

They thawed in 84/85 for awhile once Lau4en married Paul. She even helped Traci come to terms with the fact that Danny didnt love her...and took Tracij to the hospital when she miscarried the 2nd time. So while she bullied Traci in 83...by the late 80s..the two were cordial..until the mid 90s when Traci tried keeping Colleen away from Brad. Traci and Lauren both changed for the better.

Watching the 1989 episodes on that playlist. I had no idea Leanna Love and Nina knew one another... and it was nice to see Lauren and Traci during a cold war time..where they were cordial yet disliked one another. Lauren and Jack would have been an interesting pairing moreso than Scott/Lauren..given that Traci hated Lau4en..plus Paul would have issues. I wonder if Terry Lester quiting deep sixes those plans?

I loved some of the interactions in the early 1989 episodes. Chase/lauren, Jack/Britney, plus Jack/Lauren..and the Abbott breakfasts were fun. Perhaps Ron C should look at these episodes to see how to write keeping someone in a cage. Lisa was fascinating and the hair was a character of its own. I didn't know Leanna met Cassandra...and I liked Jill's chemistry with TL's Jack..plus Michael Crawford seemed a nice diversion for Jill. Can't wait to get tested to the Jabot takeover story.

Look into the past - 1975
I never knew Jill did the gaslighting of Kay back in 1976. Makes her 1985 fantasies of killing Kay not so out of left field.

Terry Lester's Jack was madly in lust with everyone. In that vault, there are some full episodes of 1982 that show the Jack and Patty story...including one where she was determined to get pregnant cause she had nothing else in her life. The desperation was clearly evident even when her father tried talking sense to her. Seeing these 1982 and 1983 scenes..I can buy Patty going crazy in the 2000s. Both LS and AE play that in their versions of Patty...it's subtle and underlying. I wish the Patty and Traci confrontation resulting in Traci losing the baby surfaces...so I can see how AE plays the scenes because she latched onto Danny quickly after the divorce from Jack.

I had heard in the past the focus group situation occurred with Alice Barrett as well...and if she hadn't had a story for a year..that could be why she scored low in a focus group...and the other possible contender for being killed off was Paulina (she scored slightly higher in the focus group than Frankie did). I think the Brooklyn location is why the AW cast were so close...plus anyone on ATWT in the last decade. It seems like Brooklyn was another world of it's own

Everyone was thinking it was cute how Tina was calling Ellen 'Maureen '..etc...but I found it very concerning tbh. To me, it was like Tina almost believed she was Lillian and that Ellen was Maureen. The letter story wasn't cute, but sad...and I'm sure Ellen saying 'write the letter' was more about being annoyed than anything.

Watching the 1983 Patty shooting Jack episode, AE did well with the material and I think it was the timing of her taking over the part vs her acting ability. Lilibet played the build up for well over a year so not seeing her play it out was kid of a letdown. I loved seeing Diane/Andy together.. and when the show revisited them in the 2000s..it wasn't the same because Donnelly wasn't playing Diane. And Eve was an interesting villainess because she played it as if she really believed what she was doing. Seeing julia and victor teaming up was inspired. The episode had a mix of camp and drama..plus some smaller character moments (paul/cindy..diane/andy).

It.seemed like Kevin's mom was a poor attempt at recreating Vanessa Prientess... with the possessiveness over her son, strong dislike of Nikki, and moving heaven & earth to get rid of her daughter in law. I also liked the Jack and Patty good bye scenes that occur in 1984...under stated and full of regret.

I remember back in 1998 when Lorraine Broderick was hired that she had a 6 month story projection that got her the job..but that once she was hired..all her ideas were rejected and she tried to make their edicts work as best as she could. Her stint was one of the last times Lisa had any sort of story, etc.

My mom was excited when Diane came back in 1996 and wondered if Patty would return (didn't happen at the time). She even accepted Susan Walter's as a recast cause she had the look and essence of Diane (though she had more a desperate quality that the show wanted to play up that Donnelly couldn't play). However, she was not happy about Maura West playing Diane...was too young, didn't look like the other actresses, nor had the essence of Diane either. Plus, Susan Walter's had come back for a visit months earlier so people were less willing to accept MW. I'm also hoping the real Diane is out there somewhere..but alas no.

My problem was the make up and break up of CarJack. I would have preferred if they broke up, co existed as parents while both found couplings that had decent development. It would have made their reconciliation even more powerful..imho. Look at Bob and Kim..spent years apart..both had decent pairings..but by 1985, reconciled and the impact was felt in positive ways.
