  1. Marcy on B&B would have been like Heather Tom on B&B - depressing and wrong.
  2. I wonder how much of an FOJ Marj was. Marj was never at Santa Barbara for that long, and I'm not sure how much she overlapped with Jill. I also can't say JFP did her any favors at GL - she was thrown to the wolves almost immediately.
  3. I generally feel the same about Buzz. I found him unbearable in his first 2-3 years on the show. After that he tones down.
  4. Thanks @YTG I think I first saw Elain on AW.
  5. Thanks. I remember there being big budget issues around then too so even if she hadn't quit it all seems likely to be reaching the same end.
  6. Whatever short-term ratings increase they had didn't seem to be worth the tradeoff for them, given JFP's firing. But I'm glad someone enjoyed that storyline.
  7. The show's choice to try to equate Sharlene and Michael sleeping together with John cheating on Sharlene with Felicia and destroying his home still bugs me. I assume they got much more backlash from viewers over the Felicia/John "romance" than they had expected so this was the end result.
  8. Thanks @Maxim. Some wonderful dialogue in that clip, especially Clint's dig about Sloan's "sherry hour." And I am always here for a well-placed use of "a tinker's damn." I don't often agree with the show's claims over the years that Clint was a young Asa, but I can see it by the end of this segment.
  9. Thanks. I think I saw a clip or two but not much else. I think she chose Buzz over Frank? I don't know.
  10. Isn't he paired with Olivia for a while? Oddly I think some people felt that was one of her better pairings.
  11. I can't stand Sonny but I'm not too shocked or upset Ronnie is meeting him. He's seen as one of the biggest names on the show so it's inevitable when they bring in a daytime icon they would have them interact. Erika also said her husband loves Sonny (one of the only soap characters he has any interest in), so I guess she enjoyed it.
  12. @I Am A Swede I just went and rewatched A Woman of No Importance for the first time in probably 15 years. Thank you for reminding me of it. Absolutely harrowing, with Patricia's understated work a big reason why. All those little details which add up to wreck you by the end. Some of the most intelligent writing and acting.
  13. Probably down to her voice being different. Sorry to dump all those clips.
  14. Yes. I think I saw that one years ago but need to rewatch. Thanks for all the fun clips you shared. Here's an interview Patricia did on Terry Wogan. Patricia Routledge interview and sings I Want to Sing in Opera on Wogan - 24 November 1989
  15. Patricia was wonderful as Hyacinth, but this is how I remember her best. Just a moving, heart-wrenching performance, with subject matter that feels timelier now than ever.
  16. I'm reminded of when Randolph Mantooth joined GH, after primetime success and also being happy with his time at Loving, and he just hated it. Different circumstances, different producers, obviously, but the show just isn't for everyone.
  17. @Reverend Ruthledge Thank you for bringing the post over here as I didn't see it. Very moving. I would like to think his son and Eileen got to see each other again.
  18. Thanks @Soapsuds glad Don is still up to do these.
  19. @DeeVee IIRC, there are some hints that they know each other and Carrie denies it. I respect you guys here who are watching the German dubs. I know I should too but it's tough for me to feel invested if they aren't the originals, even though the originals for that period look like they have been filtered with dirty dishwater.
  20. @alwaysAMC If you ever have time to kill, I love this clipset, from the late, great classicgl channel, all about Diane Ballard, Alan Spaulding's long-suffering secretary, flying too close to the sun and paying the ultimate price. (and the first clip has Carrie).
  21. Thank you for compiling all these, and all the tireless work you do on these soaps @janea4old Yeah, I have a feeling the people who think Drew set everything up with Ronnie are right, although I wonder if she may not be fully aware.
  22. That was about the Carrie Marler story from 1982. I don't know if Ross had any story in 1988 - maybe that's when he was with Nadine, I don't know. You can get some glimpses of the story around here. I know that this won't make any real sense of the story, so for a summary (I'm probably getting a lot of this wrong - the clips also somehow got under the spoiler bar, sorry):
  23. Thanks for the great clips @Maxim I don't think I've said before that I appreciate you also having longer clips and sharing those on Youtube. I still don't know how they saw any way back for Viki/Clint after this. As for Sloan, I'm not ever sure how to feel. I do think he is sincere in his love for Viki, but the comparisons to Victor also add to the manipulative air around him.
  24. It really was such a short-sighted decision to fire an actor just because another actor was taller. Typical ABC by that point. And of course they later let Stapleton, one of the only somewhat popular Kevins, get fired by JFP for a pal of hers that viewers hated.
  25. I was looking for soap content on Archive and someone just put this up from a 12-year old Youtube upload. A look at a Jerry ver Dorn meet and greet from 1988. For some reason they don't bother to interview him (maybe they did in another segment), but if you want to see him you get a few glimpses.
