DAYS: March 2026 Discussion Thread
Thanks. If they were still doing Beyond Days they should have a whole story about Vivian going around as queen of Alamania and dignitaries of other countries humoring her. At least they've managed a better job than that country from the early '00s where all the royals were blown away (what was that again?).

I think it may be easier for Rick Hearst this way, given his business and living on the East Coast.

Are there any Alamains currently in charge of Alamania? Is Alamania part of NATO? Will Alamania be helping in Iran? At least we know Alamania is pro-LGBT...

Ben Jorgensen, who played Chris. Kristina Sisco (?)'s best work as Abigail was when she returned briefly in 2009 or 2010 and Molly learned that she was having an affair with a married man and she blamed herself for her patterns transferring to her daughter. That whole arc with Molly was much better than anything else on the show at the time.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
@Maxim Finally catching up with your reviews and I must say your thoughts on Dorian, Marty and the growing love between Bo and Nora are beautifully written, especially the different dimensions of Dorian. The line from Nora about how they can never hurt each other can never be real, but you so much want it to be real, which is the power of the dialogue, chemistry, performance. And yes, it's very nice to see Andrew sans shirt. That Marty and Suede scene is such a blast (other than Suede mouthing the words, which I do not like). The emphasis on the sexual tension between them, somehow presented in a positive, fun way, instead of seedy, is difficult to pull off. The sequence is a beautiful yet dirty fantasy - there's the heat, but a safe heat, with everyone cheering them on instead of someone throwing up, or starting a fight, or grabbing Marty's ass. What I appreciate most in these clips and most of the show at the time is the very honest and very believably presented sexuality. It's not trying too hard - you don't have characters in overly edited scenes to try to show passion or characters in a room full of fire hazard candles. The scene with Jason and Dorian where she keeps asking him to make love to her as he tries to instead emotionally comfort her is incredibly restrained even while in the throes of passion - you can believe these are lovers, you can believe Dorian's fears and Jason's concerns. None of this would get on the air now. It always amazes me that Frank Valentini was around to first-hand observe these years of OLTL but his work in comparison often feels so sexless and when he was working with Ron, felt so juvenile. I imagine if Ron ever watched any of this, he'd fall asleep. I did laugh when Dorian reminded Jason that she is a doctor. I can't remember if Elaine Princi had those mentions of Dorian's medical past. Enough producers and writers would go back to this that I wonder if Robin Strasser wanted to mention Dr. Dorian. I don't love Lindsey's wardrobe. I'm not sure if there was a plan for her clothes, maybe she was meant to dress in a way which seemed non-assuming, but it comes across as having a limited budget. I think the clothes are too young for Anna Holbrook, if that makes any sense. Maybe that is the idea, I don't know.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Thanks to @slick jones I ended up seeing this very surprising mention of SB on DAYS last November. Santa Barbara: the French site It is an unexpected nod that certainly did not go unnoticed by Santa Barbara fans : in the November 07 episode of Days of Our Lives in the United States, the character of EJ DiMera talks on the phone with... Lionel Lockridge ! He even mentions Augusta and the Lockridge Foundation, responsible for a generous donation to the Horton clinic. So, could Augusta and Lionel be reunited again in 2025 ?There is no way this is a coincidence, it is clearly a direct reference to our favorite series ! But who came up with it ? For now, that remains a mystery : none of the writers credited at the end of the episode have previously worked on Santa Barbara... They also link to a clip. It's a bit of a stretch to think Lionel would still be with us, but then Rupert Murdoch is still with us... I hope it might make Lionel and Augusta fans out there happy. Why did they annoy you? I think I only know Summer, and I've barely seen her. Do you think Gina was hurt by her death? The actor who played Peter has just put out a memoir.

Thanks @slick jones Never seen that photo of David James Carroll. What a beautiful man he was. Never knew one of the Bonnies was on the Onion News Network. I thought V was on GH for longer than two years. It seemed like three. Thanks for the Santa Barbara link to - I couldn't find the Tomita article but saw a DAYS mention of the Lockridges that I'd missed.

They can just say she was a big Queen Victoria fan.

Chances
It was, yes. And some of the people who started with the Chances pilot moved over to E Street. I wonder if they shared any writers. I wish this side of Australian soap was documented more as you have the very different Home & Away and Neighbours airing around the same time. Those shows had the longevity, but I am sorry the weird material (and Australia is a delightfully offbeat place) didn't last.

Game Shows
Me too. I wonder if she was a reason a lot of younger viewers enjoyed the show.

Melrose Place
Like the cancer story (did she make out with Michael in a hot tub or with someone in a hot tub or am I just completely mixing up shows and storylines).

I thought he was so good on AMC. For one thing they made Chris a bad boy, which didn't suit actor or character. And something just didn't click. I remember after Ben was let go, he said that Kathryn Hays or Don Hastings had suggested he get speech lessons. That whole teen scene was a bust.

Melrose Place
Didn't they also claim Rena Sofer and Heather Locklear were the same age?

I believe so, yes. That's probably it. I will say he could believably smolder, even if I never really was into him. He had a look very suited to that period. And if Mark Wahlberg could be made into a superstar after horrific acts just because he dropped his pants, Sabato could have too. Wahlberg apparently just made better career choices.

They have. EastEnders had Dot Cotton watching Coronation Street, yet there was later a crossover between Corrie and EE, for charity. I think it's a certain ruthless mentality that these soaps are of the past and they can't make any money from them and anything but moving on from them entirely is the only way they can move forward. Even when the DVDs were supposedly selling decently in the early '10s, that plug was pulled. It is just so cold to me.

I don't think Ric and Liz should ever be a proper couple. With that said, I also don't want to see him go crazy as a foil for her and Dante.

I can understand why they did those crossovers, for ratings purposes, but I do wish they'd acknowledge the P&G soaps. I know that sounds a bit arrogant, and maybe unfair, given how those shows weren't exactly interested in black representation (ATWT and AW coming the closest), but I hope they can someday. Unfortunately, something tells me even if those at BtG wanted to do them P&G and CBS would put the kibosh on.

Me too. I just never have gotten a good feeling from the people involved in this show. I don't understand how you can be so blase about Donna Mills, of anyone.
