  1. Maria is both repulsed and strangely flattered.
  2. September 20 and October 4.
  3. July 12 and July 26 Digest issues.
  4. The 1988 recaps I have are all over the place - these are what I can get at the moment. May 17 Digest. May 31 Digest (for some reason I don't have the second part of this)
  5. You missed Tim Gibbs Kevin in the parade of disastrous Kelly love interests. I wish Mia/Laura/Elaine had taken a "family" portrait of some kind - talk about stunning beauties. And enough hair to make Crystal Gayle weep. It's a charisma looks can never make up for. OLTL really was very good at this in the late 70's, with Judith Light, Steve Fletcher, Gerald Anthony. What OLTL did with those characters was so risky and fascinating, and yet it was so true to the show's message - these were the "others", the damaged, trying to get through life as best they could.
  6. I guess it's a compliment to Gerald that at his goofiest he looks the same as the Church Lady does at his "hottest." (and Gerald looked better in shirtless photos too...) Mike Storm had a very classic leading man look. It's a shame that OLTL lost interest in him and that we probably won't even get him back for the finale. He was crucial to Viki's character.
  7. They should sell those online in order to raise money for the center.
  8. This was mixed up in my 1988 stuff somehow. It's from an early October 1987 Digest.
  9. I know. It still bothers me that we will never see Marco again. He represented so much of what made OLTL unique. I also think, in his first run, Gerald was one of the most handsome men on the show.
  10. Thanks for saying that - I appreciate it. I sort of cheat compared to the hard work you do on your synopses. The work you did and Paul Raven has done are why I started putting synopses up. Your synopses from this era were fascinating to read and they helped me see how important they are as a historical document for daytime. When I'm done with the Loving stuff and some Doctors I will put up more of the early TV soap material I have (what little I have).
  11. OK that's all I have of 1983-1987 at the moment, aside from one or two I've misplaced. I'm really sorry about cluttering up the thread this way. I hope that you've enjoyed these and I have really enjoyed the conversations sparked about them. If you have anything else to say about them then please do, and if not, then I'm going to start posting some of what I have from 1988 on, so I hope you enjoy those. I also wanted to apologize if anything I post overlaps with Paul Raven's synopses - I know he spends a lot of time writing those up.
  12. Not sure of the exact date but I think this must have been in a January 1986 Digest.
  13. I would have brought back Missy (not sure what Carol Roux was doing by then but they could have recast), that character Doris Belack played (Madge?), Ada's brother Lucas, and other ties to the past, as it seems like AW moving so far away from that by the late 70's is probably what hurt the most. Or bring in some Somerset characters, like Ellen Grant and her daughter. Or India Delaney. Bring back Robert.
  14. I think this is the next one.
  15. May 6, 1986 Digest.
  16. It's always strange seeing pictures out of context. Starr looks like she's going to kill Troy, and Viki looks bored as hell at Megan's deathbed. Oh, I just checked and I'd never seen one of those either. The one with Viki in the pink dress, standing with Steve. Great find! I'm glad they let Erika stop wearing those false eyelashes later on. Not a good look.
  17. July 1, 1986 Digest.
  18. I don't know the exact date on this. If anyone else does please say. I guess this would be early 1985 or late 1984?
  19. Thanks dc. I know we all went into this before but I still don't get recasting Doug, and that actor just seems a bit pointless. I wonder what was going on with Cec, if they just kept recasting her because they didn't like the actresses, or if the actresses left of their own choice. Rebecca Staab was on GL by late 1985 and Alice Haining was on OLTL by mid-86, I believe. I wonder if Alice knew someone at ABC Daytime - she floated around their soaps for 2-3 years. This should be mid-September 1985 Digest.
  20. Thanks for sharing this. I'm not a big fan of that clip they chose, but I liked the interview. Paul O'Grady can be a little pushy but he's also able to put his guests at ease. I never knew Charlie Brooks was on a show with Jane Danson. It's always nice to hear Charlie talk about Janine, although I do think Janine cares what people think - she just doesn't like to show it.
  21. From Who's Who in Daytime TV 1981.
  22. Yes it is. That conversation is hilarious, especially as the padding becomes more and more apparent. <ring> Vivian: Yeah? Man: Can I talk to... Vivian: You are! Man: May I speak to Mr. Bancroft. Iris: Hello? Man: Yes. I need to... Iris: Who is this? Man: May I... Iris: What? Man: I need to speak to Mr. Bancroft. Iris: Why? Man: John Randolph is dead. Iris: Oh no! John Randolph is dead! Man: Yes! Iris: Why? Man: He... <click> Iris: I lost the connection! Brian: Was that the phone? Iris: Someone called for you. Brian: Why? Iris: They said they had bad news, something about John Randolph is dead! Brian: John Randolph is dead? Vivian: Oh no! Iris: How awful! Brian: I have to find out why. <phone rings> Man: John Randolph is dead! I was trying to call you! Brian: How? Why? Who? What? When? Where?
  23. I'm more interested in why Marlena Laird is dressed like a supervillainess from the old Spiderwoman comic.
  24. April 22, 1986 Digest.
