I mostly enjoyed this, but I agree that the actress who played Samantha was just awful. I hope they look at the successes of this film and minimize her role for a sequel. The actors who played Tara, Mindy and Chad were all fantastic and I'd much prefer the sequel focus in on them and also the return of Kirby. Sam can be an opening kill or a killer, but I can't do another film with her blank expressions like she's Kelly Monaco.
  2. I don't know if I can stand this SLC reunion. Like @Catsaid, this season has been long and exhausting. I'm ready to be done with SLC for a LONG time! Throw in the pictures of them on a five girl cast trip with no newbie, I just am not interested in what they have coming. They should've made episode 20 the finale. It had lots of fun bits and the final episode felt more like a Lost Footage episode. The ending with Jennie attacking Mary and everybody ignoring it was disturbing to watch. Then to see Lisa and Jennie still cheering about it on the after show made me feel even worse. I need Beverly Hills and Atlanta to return.
  3. The most important thing to the Lechowick's was STYLE! Style came before story or character, which is why the show had such slumps at times when they couldn't think up compelling stories. You saw the same thing when Lynn Latham joined Y&R. I actually feel she had potential to be the best post-Bill Bell HW (had she kept the old team), but her desire to change everything ruined her tenure. When it was still a collaboration she brought great ideas to the show that worked well, but once she got total control we got silly things like one minute scenes, no jewelry because of the way diamonds are mined, no bottled water because it's bad for the environment. Just silly stuff that has nothing to do with creating a good show.
  4. As many times as I've watched the series, I can't decide if I liked Claudia or not. I thought Kathleen Noone did a great job in the role, but the connection to Greg and Kate's existence were weak. I feel like Donna Mills left at the right time. You could tell in her final season they were close to taking her too far, but they bundled replacing her. Claudia was too dark and Anne became too comical. I feel like the real missed opportunity was with Robin Strasser's Diane character. She had amazing chemistry with Michele Lee, which was critical to an Abby replacement and she could've easily moved into the cul-de-sac and mingled with The Sumner Group eventually.
  5. I’m going to have to look for Angel Falls and Orleans, but 2000 Malibu Rd was amazing and deserved a longer run. I’ve read it’s ratings were good but something behind the scenes caused it to end. It was such a unique story for a prime time soap. And another one with a Knots connection!
  6. I recently bought Second Chances/Hotel Malibu on DVD. These are two series CBS used to try to replace Knots, along with Four Corners, which was created by David Jacobs. Second Chances was created by Lynn Marie Latham and Bernie Lechowick and Hotel Malibu was created by them and developed by James Stanley and Diane Messina Stanley. Considering Knots ended due to budget issues, not ratings and they used so many writers from the show to create replacements, I’m surprised they didn’t try to tie one of these series to Knots. The show has a loyal fan base so it seems like a no brainer considering. The pilot of Second Chances was great and would’ve been easy to write as a spin off. Hell, they could’ve just made Michelle Phillips character Anne Matheson since they’re written in the same way.
  7. Thank you for this! I’m going to buy it mostly to hear about the failed reboot and dreadful Burton film. I still have hopes the new reboot gets picked up. I was really impressed by the Bloody-Disgusting interview with the writer. I hope their wish of finding a streaming home comes true.
  8. I am so happy for her! After everything she's been through, to be back in primetime on CBS is amazing.
  9. I'm glad yall are talking about the Maya storyline. It was an interesting idea, but the wrong character I feel. I hated how once she was revealed as transgender, she lost all of her layers and deviousness. It was like had to be a saint now that she was trans. It just felt regressive and I knew the moment they did that storyline that her time was numbered. She was literally the lead of B&B for a while and as soon as Brad put that story on her back he pulled back.
  10. Just FYI, RHOBH also filmed it's finale yesterday and more is coming to light about Kathy Hilton. It looks like she allegedly had a meltdown when they went to a bar after filming in Aspen aka this was off camera. She was upset nobody knew who she was and at one point got into with a DJ and called him a homophobic slur. This is what led to her eventually posting that message on Rick Hilton's instagram to pick her up. Rinna has been going on and on about what Kathy said and Kathy is trying to prevent it from becoming a storyline. Even today Rinna is gleefully posting about how she's "talking about it." Rinna and Kathy filmed a one hour sit down on Thursday, but beyond that, Kathy hasn't filmed any of the final events with the ladies. I find this confusing since it apparently ALL happened off camera, so I'm not sure how much mileage they can get out of it, but with Kathy sending cyst and desists and drawing so much attention towards it, she's going to cause this to be a bigger story than it would've been. I wonder what Kyle is going to do. We all know Kyle left Kim out to dry, but can she do the same to Kathy? Can she still be friends with Rinna who is gleefully taking down her sister? I don't think Kathy would ever forgive her.
  11. I can’t with this show. So now Dylan and Andrea are being put in a lot of scenes together and she’s over at his house, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. Of course they have chemistry, but instead of letting her have an affair with him, they bring on a new character to pawn her off with. It’s crazy because they claimed she had to go, but they keep showing ways she could’ve stayed long term, they just never pursue what *they* set up.
  12. Wait…I knew they wouldn’t pair Terry with anybody they deemed important, but Chet? It’s bad enough they won’t give the trans character an equal storyline, but to bring on a disabled man as her love interest and give them nothing together is even more insulting. Now if you could promise me this was a real story with real screen time I’d be all for it, but you already know what they’re doing.
  13. Cynthia Cidre was a moron. She didn't watch the original show, didn't research the history and seemed to resent it. After the ratings drop off during season one, she gradually started bringing soap elements into the show, with season three being a full on soap. I feel like Victoria Principal was used to build buzz. Victoria has always been clear she wouldn't play Pam again. She certainly wasn't going to come back to a Dallas crime series with 30 seconds of screentime. There were far too many characters and actors willing to work for them to do that stupid mess.
  14. Hold up…you mean Days had an actress who had a very public kidney transplant working with unvaccinated people and she wasn’t even informed?! That’s crazy and sad she wasn’t given a heads up to protect her health. This could’ve gone very bad for her.
  15. That 12pm time slot is as doomed at ABC. I strongly believe Ryan’s Hope would’ve lasted throughout the 90s (as a success) had ABC not moved it for Loving. It’s so hard to launch a new soap and it still bothers me they moved RH. It was such a good show and deserved a longer run.
  16. I remember that Hunter Tylo scandal. IIRC, her son was born with a birth defect and she claimed that was due to the stress they put her under. I remember hearing when she stood up in court at 9 months pregnant, you couldn’t even tell she was pregnant. I wonder if she felt pressure to stay slim to justify keeping her job for the lawsuit. Reading those interviews @Vee posted don’t paint Aaron Spelling in the best light. I feel like Donna suffered from his interference. I liked the chemistry Tori had with Cress Williams (who was also great with Brandon), but Aaron didn’t want his daughter with a Black love interest. Watching season 5 I feel like all of the fun has been drained from Donna. That goofy, funny, but lovable girl is completely gone and she’s been turned into the type of heroine that Tori isn’t great at playing. While I’m here I almost must say that Kelly Taylor is a hateful bitch. She always has her nose turned up at someone. I’m glad Brenda is gone because I hate how she’d always do something to Brenda and turn it around to play the victim. I’m curious when her likability will return because this ain’t it. Originally I only saw seasons 9 and 10 when they originally aired and after season 5 it’s going to be fresh for me, barring episodes here and there that I’ve seen. I’m curious how I will react because I recall seasons 6 and 7 not grabbing me from the episodes I can remember.
  17. I’m into season five now, which is just fantastic. Valerie is an inspired character and I love that they’re full on soap now. I find I don’t miss Brenda, because she was such an outsider in season four that it was time. The biggest disappointment of season five is Andrea. I was shocked at how well she was written in season four and it seems everything they did right has disappeared. Instead of mostly having scenes with Brandon of Steve, they fully integrated her with the girls which I loved. She felt like a real part of the group and an important part. I loved her dating and sleeping around as well and she fit in perfectly. I don’t mind the pregnancy story, but it would’ve worked better with Steve or Brandon as the father. If it had to be Jesse, the casting needed to be better. This is probably one of the worst pieces of casting I’ve ever seen. Now in season five she’s isolated mostly to dull scenes with him, has aged a decade and is clearly in the way out. Season four proved there was a long term future for Andrea, but you can tell the writers and producers used Gabrielle’s age to push her out.
  18. I’m a random person who loves that character so I’m not mad at it. That makes sense considering they are only going to invest so much in a trans character since they think it’s the 50s.
  19. Do we have any idea who Terry’s date is going to be? I’m still shocked they’re finally giving her a love interest. I can’t imagine which character it could be with though.
  20. I hope Kylie returns as well. If Julianne Moore can go back to ATWT then there are no excuses IMO. This show put Kylie on the map, it’s the least she could do.
  21. From what I’ve read, the show gets 1.2 million viewers in the UK (which covers the majority of the budget) and it only gets 100,000 viewers in Australia. Why did Fremantle want so much money if they show was already struggling to stay on the air? Seems kinda stupid.
  22. A twitter account is alleging that Peacock is developing a reboot of Real Housewived of DC! Exciting if true, although I wish Omarosa was in the cast (or on Potomac). These are alleged potential housewives. Michaele, Lynda and Mary would be the returning wives. I know this sounds random, but I think this makes more sense than to jump into Dallas. DC has been gone so long they can truly go wherever they want and DC is a more appealing location post Trump. Dallas had so much negativity I can see them not wanting to jump back into it, or knowing how to.
  23. I feel like if it wasn't for Covid they would've at least given this a pilot, but now they have to be so careful about what they focus on for development so I don't see it happening. Unless they feel it is going to be a sure bet they aren't going to waste one of their few pilot slots on a soap experiment. It would be nice to see it picked up by a streaming service though, but I don't think Hulu would be interested.
  24. I once had a DVD with three of the prime time episodes. The one where Victor got shot was truly amazing. I believe various soaps have had prime time episodes. I want to say OLTL has one in the 90s, I know Days and AW did. I feel like if OLTL had one then GH and AMC probably did as well. Of course Port Charles launched as a two hour TV movie. I believe the very first prime time episode was Return to Peyton Place which had an hour long prime time episode, but nothing is known to exist of that soap.
  25. This is devastating! It was such a tease seeing Sam full of life when she last appeared and they are going to tease us again. Kelly Monaco literally has become one of the absolute worst actors in soaps. I can barely pay attention during her scenes. No matter what they throw at her, what actor they put her in scenes with, she just gives NOTHING. Ugh!
