She had some of the highest ratings show had seen in years and won back to back emmys. She brought glorious production values. Mal Young has been a horrible disaster with no vision and sinking ratings. JFP has the recipe to spike up YR numbers. CBS should welcome JFP back to the show. Members RavenWhitney Posted February 12, 2017 Members Share Posted February 12, 2017 JFP had some good years on all her shows; her issue is that she is unable to cultivate a great relationship with writers who are creative artists. She did it for a while on GL with Curlee/Demorest/Reilly/Broderick; but when Curlee suddenly left I think JPF decided she'd be the behind the scenes head writer at all her shows. She made one more attempt to bring in creative writers when she took over AW (Tom King/Craig Carlson/Harding Lemay) but she kept brining in consultants until NBC imposed DePreist on the show. OLTL was a creative disaster. She wanted to head write that show and went through Pam Long, Claire Labine, Megan McTavish, writing by committee. On GH, the one show she had very little creative control over, there were two people there with less vision that she: Guza/Pratt. On Y&R, again she either had writers that had no true authority (Passanant/Altman) or an oversized ego (Pratt) over whom she had no creative control. She never found a happy place where she was producing great material from creative daytime soap writers. Her best was producing Curlee's vision. And that was GL last great period. She's done on daytime...although has anyone looked at her Facebook page? She just listed ABC/Disney as her employer. YIKES...... Among women demographics, it was up +5% in women 25-54 (2.2/12 from 2.1/12), +15% in women 18-49 (1.5/09 from 1.3/09) and +17% in women 18-34 (0.7/05 from 0.6/05), all best since the week ending Jan. 31, 2014 That was JFP/Pratt first big week at YR. There's no "disaster story" they won't embrace, but they give no thought to the fallout and how to retain the momentum from the so-called "big events" they're infamous for. It does little good to spike the ratings for a week or ten days if the writer/EP can't hold that audience and grow it. Also, I agree with John. If CBS had been happy with JFP she wouldn't have been dumped. The fans weren't happy with her, that's for sure. I still think it's too early to lambast Sally. JFP and Pratt did immeasurable damage to Y&R. It takes time to reposition characters and fix the crap we saw on our screens for way too long. Y&R may not be perfect, but it feels familiar again. I think it's HILARIOUS to come here with criticism of Y&R and Mal Young when your own favorite soap looks like [!@#$%^&*] and is a dumpster fire. In the last weekly ratings period (1/30-2/3), GH beat B&B only in the W18-49 demos. B&B beat GH in all the other demos (total viewers, households, W 18-34, W 25-54). I wouldn't call that a "rousing" success for GH. I'm happy they are up. I'm happy when any soap's ratings go up, but let's keep it real - and accurate. Look at the way JFP killed off 7 years old Delia Abbott(Sophie Pollono)by a mysterious SUV driver striking her and killing her instantly to make us viewers angry for no reason just because she can and for disgusting entertainment purposes is Sick and disgusting!! The way that JFP had Y&R's Sharon Newman(Sharon Case)burn down to ashes Newman Ranch in which should have been left alone and respected the history of The Ranch and What is Means To Us Fans/TV Viewers and Y&R and was thrown away li9ke it was nothing is awful and criminal!! The way that JFP did to her real life friend Y&R Detective Dylan McAvoy(Steve Burton)with the whole baby switch incident and the many times that Dylan almost lost his life and the many times that many Y&R's characters put him threw the wringer and pushed him over the edge and to his breaking points and never let Dylan have his baby who Sharon miscarried or let Dylan be happy and joyful and laugh and smile and not depressed and angry and yelling and screaming and devastatingly crying all the time is cruel, evil, hateful and despicable!! The Way JFP kept rewriting Y&R's Male and Female Characters to do things that they would never ever do because JFP didn't respect those Y&'s Male and Female Characters and their histories is beyond evil!! Look at the way that she killed off Y&R's Sage Warner Bingham Newman(Kelly Sullivan)in stupid car accident looking for her cellphone and leaving her child Christian Newman without a mom is cruel beyond cruel!! Look how JFP lock Josh Griffith(Ex-Executive Producer/Head Writer Of Y&R)out of his office to be mean and evil to him and wouldn't let JG get his belongings out of his office!! The way that JFP desecrated The Late Katherine Chancellor's(The Late Jeanne Cooper)mansion and have Y&R's Billy Abbott(Jason Thompson)used her house as a sex palace and have pornographic sex with all over Katherine Chancellor's mansion with that awful paint job and removing Katherine's portrait and including Billy and Phyllis having sex on Katherine C's bookshelf and on the stairs that Katherine walked up it of the finale time and destroying her(Katherine C's)memories and legacy in that mansion is Cruel, Nasty, Evil, Hateful, Despicable and Disgusting!! Remember Soap Opera, Daytime TV and Entertainment Industries Jill Farren Phelps history of firing GH's Lila Quartermaine(The Late Anna Lee)who had a lifetime contract with General Hospital to continue to play GH's Lila Quartermaine forever and Jill Farren Phelps came along and dismiss her and fired her and 2 months late died being mean, hateful, evil and cruel!! and Remember JFP and What She did to these now cancelled Daytime Soap Operas Santa Barbara, Guiding Light, Another World, One Life To Live and General Hospital and Look At Her Biographies and Her Jill Farren Phelps background thoroughly and fully and completely and Never Ever Hire Jill Farren Phelps For Anything Ever Again!!
