AMC's Susan Lucci

SID's new issue names Susan Lucci as its "Gold Star Performer" for this issue and cites the scene where Jack comes to her office to confront her about Greg's murder. I loved that scene and thought both Walt and Susan ROCKED in it. :) Here is the article:

Sure, she'd been married 10 times, but when a more mature Erica said "I do" to best friend Jack last year, she really expected to live happily ever after. Natch, they'd hadn't even celebrated their first anniversary when she received earth-shattering news. The baby she'd aborted years earlier (Josh) had survived! Although she and Jack had agreed to keep to keep the revelation to themselves, secrets- much like Josh's nefarious dad, Greg- don't stay buried for long.

Ever the Diva

For 26 years Emmy winner Susan Lucci's played every nuance of self-absorbed Erica to the hilt, and often with an almost comic twist. Reminded by ex-husband Jeff that if they didn't tell Josh that he's their son, then the young man would be left grief stricken by Greg's demise, Erica responded callously, "Well yes, that's exactly what I've been saying to you all along. And Josh will grieve, and it'll be horrible for him, but then it will be over".

But it was when confronted by Jack about being Greg's murderer that Lucci reminded viewers why she is the queen of daytime. Playing the scene for all it was worth, she recited a lengthy monologue in which Erica gleefully "confessed" every detail about how she buried Greg alive. Like Jack, we were so drawn in by the story that we almost missed that she was kidding!

Trouble in Paradise

Put off by her husbands's prosecutor-like approach to questioning, Erica turned on a dime and lashed out. How could Jack even suspect her of doing something so terrible? Eyes blazing, the pint sized beauty may have been struggling to hold herself together, but she struck the fear of God into her beloved. "I have big concerns about you too, Jack. About Us!" she spat indignantly before stalking out of the room.

Turning next to Zach, whom she feared had killed Greg to protect Kendall, Erica was stunned to realize that her son-in-law, knew the secret about Josh. Even more shocking, he had no intention of exposing it. Reeling, Erica next faced Josh and revealed a rare glimpse of her compassionate side. "I didn't like Greg but..you've lost a man that you loved and respected. .I am so sorry for your loss," she said sincerely. But when Josh put her on notice that he planned to prove that she and her friends had done Greg in, Erica realized that the situation was slipping out of control. If things continue spiraling , might Erica gain the son she never wanted and lose the love of her life at the same time? Watching the myriad of emotions play across her face reminded us again of why we love Lucci!

I'm sorry, but who wrote this? "More mature Erica," "Best friend, Jack," and "26 years" instead of 36 of playing Erica Kane?! The article also omits the fact that Erica intentionally kept the secret from Jack for weeks, while she'd have her little pow wows with Tad and Ryan -- two men that weren't her husband and "best friend," Jack.

I'm all for celebrating our favorite performers/characters... but it becomes a little foolish when you gloss over details legions of fans have witnessed with their own eyes, and embellish other tidbits that barely even register just to do it.

I assume the SID editors wrote it that way. I have no idea because there is no name on the ariticle. I think they were focusing more on her performance rather than the details. I agree with you about some of what you said but in this case they are just talking about Susan's performances and not all the details of story..At least that's how I saw it :)

Susan totally deserves it! She was amazing in that scene with Jack - and also great in her scenes with Jack, Jeff, and Zach last week when they wanted her to tell Kendall about Josh.
