DAYS: Gina and Hope

Does anyone remember why Gina never had a DNA test done when she arrived in Salem that would have proven her identity? She could have been matched against Shawn-Douglas or Jennifer or Alice or someone. Or maybe there was a DNA test, but Stefano had the test results altered. Does anyone else remember?

BTW, who else really loved the Gina storyline when it began? I was so excited hoping for Gina to get her hands on the puzzle box and prove her true identity. I remember Abby somehow ended up with the puzzle box, and Jack figured out what it meant and gave it to Gina outside the church at Carrie and Austin's non-wedding. I remember Gina opened it and Billie was none too impressed.

And then Gina recited the love letter she'd written to Bo on their wedding day, and there was a finger print on it that confirmed she really was Hope.

Then later that summer, at the police shooting range, she fired off a shot and the shock caused all her memories to return. That was a classic JER story, and it made me fall for Bo and Hope.

no one would have thought to do a DNA test because as far as everyone knew Gina Von Amburg died years previous.

No, I'm not talking about Princess Gina, I'm talking about when Hope returned to Salem in 1994 as Gina.

No one had heard about Princess Gina till 1998.

No DNA test because it was too simple and easy.

Reilly's "DNA Test" was the puzzle box. It was more dramatic that way and he wanted to think outside of the box. No pun intended. :)

The scene were Hope opens the puzzle box was one of the best scenes from JER's era.

At least, that's my explanation. LOL

I think when Gina first appeared, they said that Hope's DNA records had mysteriously been destroyed or something, but why they didn't think to do a DNA test is beyond me..unless they did, like I said, and I can't remember.

The puzzle box scene rocked, and if anyone has the vid, they should upload it to youtube. :)

BTW, I preferred Kristian Alfonso's Gina from 1994-95 than her Princess Gina from 1999-2000. Anyone else agree?

BTW, did you know why Hope was Gina?

OMG, the puzzle box opening scene was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Got me to leave AMC, that's how a supercouple "reunites." Everybody else disappeared from the room and not with special effects - just b/c the chemistry and writing is that good! Sigh.

There's gotta be a hardcore B/H fan who has this clip! I want to see it again.

I agree with Toups-someone give up this clip  .

I tuned in b/c I was shocked they fired RKK and I had always disliked B/B because I liked RKK's Bo and Carly, but the chemistry got me addicted.

*Sniffle* the night Bo dumped, dumped Hope! He tells her "I'll always care about you" as she's sobbing her eyes out with her back turned to him and he swallows his tears real hard (a little sign to show us he's still very much torn) - and then he goes after Billie who's leaving town after seeing what Bo won't let himself see, that he's still in love with Hope...I think I cried not because I felt so bad for Billie (but I did, a little, come on "In This Life" was playing) but because Bo was such a bastard.

And the made-up flashbacks of Bo and Hope doing it in Santa Rosa were so f**kin hot, lol, Bo not being able to do it with Billie on that bed, lol.

And man Mark Valley's Jack and Hope were so hot back then, damn JER for not doing that. I remember one episode he came in her room (circa Aremid) and she was in a t-shirt and an open robe and he was beginning to come on to her a little...until she confessed her and Bo were making progress, and it just coulda been so damn hot (Kristain was probably the most stunning woman on daytime 1994-1995 and Mark Valley was just beautiful in a manly way).

Whoa, just went into a big ole flashback-with-DAYS session there.

RKK was great with both of them.

This happened on the Fancy Face right with Bo choosing Billie, right? I want to see these clips too.

I totally forgot about Jack and Hope! Valley's Jack and even Ashford's Jack could've been paired off with anyone else, but noooooo. :( I wanted Jack to hook up with Sarah from Aremid who was played by the oh so hot Kristi McDaniel.

(Kristain was probably the most stunning woman on daytime 1994-1995

I agree. She was flawless....so damn gorgeous. I had a huge crush on her, I still do but it was bigger back then. LOL

Then why would they take a DNA if they never heard about Gina. They must believed she was Hope.

Stefano brainwashed Hope into believing she was Gina. He did it so she would steal high price art in Europe for him.

A puzzle box DNA test was about the dumbest thing I saw on a soap at that time. If I could open it up, could I claim to be Hope too?

As I recall there was a DNA test but was it not "inconclusive". I thought that was how Alice discovered Tom had died. she was at the hospital waiting for Gina/Hope to have a DNA test and then she came home to tell Tom there was a chance Gina could be Hope but instead she found him dead in his bed. Or have I not rememebred that correctly at all?

Well, if you'll remember, the people of Salem didn't believe Gina was Hope either, even though we (the audience) had our proof as soon as Gina opened the puzzle box. It wasn't until Gina recited the love letter and matched her finger print to Hope's finger print that it was proven that she was Hope.

Stefano brainwashed Hope into believing she was Gina. He did it so she would steal high price art in Europe for him.

I realize that, but I'm just explaining why the writers chose the name Gina and not something like Cheryl or Natasha.

Then why would they take a DNA if they never heard about Gina. They must believed she was Hope.

What I'm saying is, when Gina showed up in 1994 looking like a very-much-alive Hope, the first thing I would have done was take a sample of Gina's DNA and compare it to a Horton's DNA.

I don't think you understand the storyline. Bo and Billie found an amnesiac woman named Gina at Stefano's mansion in Louisiana. Obviously, she looked exactly like Bo's "dead" wife Hope. So Gina set out to prove she was Hope, although some people thought she was a DiMera operative made to look like Hope to cause problems for the Bradys.

When Hope investigated her missing years as Gina, she discovered she had been impersonating a princess named Gina to steal art for Stefano, but the name "Princess Gina" was never mentioned until 1998, a full three years after Gina learned she was Hope.
