GL: 4th of July fireworks

Contrary to expectations, GL was not a throw away episode because of expected low viewership on the 4th.

Two major happenings per my view, the break-up of Frank and Olivia - looks like a full on Olivia/Gus pattern now, and Jonathon throwing the contract to leave his unborn daughter alone back in Alan's face - leading Tammy to worship him once more.

As a Days viewer (well I'm trying to be now that we have new writers) I find GL very refreshing. Although the stories move really fast sometimes they do a lot of unspoken moments without having to discuss everything. Case in point today was Cassie and Josh, she pushing him to call Reva, he getting used to Reva not being there, she saying just tell that to Ross's wife. And later after Josh's speech Cassie putting her hand on his chest. GL lays a lot more framework for possible pairings down the road than Days. Lots more interaction, possibly flirting, before one couple possibly broken up and a new partner found. Triangles without one side being evil.

I thought the Bauer BBQ was good today. It was nice that Rick was talking to Ed on the phone, but sad that Michelle and so many others weren't there. I liked the way Josh saw how sad Blake was and took a moment to remember Ross. The Cassie/Josh interaction was good. I wonder if Olivia and Frank are really over? I kind of hope so, because I do like her with Buzz at this point.

Leave it to Alan to shoot himself in the foot by taking Jon's phone away and being nasty to Reva. He was so close to having exactly what he wanted. I love Jon though and I loved the way he ripped that contract up in Alan's face, although I'm afraid of what Alan's next scheme will be.

Usually I don't care much for Gus, but I do have a tiny bit of sympathy for him right now. Not sure how long that'll last.

Thought the Bauer Barbecue, as good as it was, was still weird because there were only three Bauers there. Not to mention, they all left their own damn party at one point and time! LOL.

Is it just me, or is the guy who plays Remy reminiscent of Solomon from The Hand That Rocks The Cradle? Someone please inform this guy that his character is supposed to be a charming cop, not a slow, somewhat creepy handyman!

The girl who plays Leah is SUPERDULL also. Someone needs to tell homegirl to get a tan, because she is getting washed out by the GL lighting.

Did scene-dressing Ashlee get enough to drink?! Everytime I saw her, she was clutching a cup. And where was her mama, the DA?

Olivia and Buzz are great together. Just keep Liv away from Frank, even though my heart sank for him today. She's such a !@#$%^&*] for leading Frank on, when she really wanted Buzz to begin with.

And, you would think that since Ava spent months crying and whining about her man, that the LAST thing she would do is leave his sexy body at a party. ALONE. But I admit, Michelle Ray Smith annoyed me a lot less today than usual. Maybe I was in a really good mood.

And Rick sure as hell has a lot of nerve talking about Gus the way he did. Has he forgotten half the damn town hates him for being partly responsible for Ross's demise? And that, probably, the only reason why they showed up to the Bauer Barbecue anyway was to get the free food? If Rick wants second chances, he better learn how to give them.

The chemistry between Nicole Forester's Cassie and Robert Newman's Josh is undeniable at this point. I am absolutely rooting for them as a couple.

I am so sick of Alan and his baby trip that he is on! Maybe his sorry ass should have stayed in the loony bin.

Even though I feel sorry for Gus, I'd be a little hesitant to leave my child around a drug addict who hasn't been to treatment yet. I guess Gus won't go because that would mean RPG would be off screen or they would have to have a clinic set. Still I can't blame Rick. Just because he's made mistakes doesn't mean he has to risk Jude's safetey. Of course, he could also be a little nicer about it too. Not like anything could have happened at the BBQ with all those people around.

I just can't believe the Buzz/Olivia/Frank triangle could be over so easily. I REALLY hope yesterday was the resolution.

I'm feeling for Gus too. He's really trying and for Rick to unleash his self righteous fury...He better come the ehll on.

I'm glad Jonathan is standing up for his rights, but I want Tammy to be her own woman. She should not be an extension of him.

Leah shold've been fed at the BBQ but instead she skips out ot play matchmaker.
