Well, Frons was a [!@#$%^&*], but Star didn't know she was fired then. It was a pre-Emmy dinner at the end of March.

Yeah, but Frons wanted her gone in November, but apprently Barbara pleaded with him to let her stay on a few more months. So Star was basically saying, "How could this man invite me over to his table and have me sit next to him and crack jokes with me when he wanted me gone?".

Again, I really dislike Star so it doesn't matter to me. That's life. Show business is tough.

If Frons really cared about connection to the audiance, McTavish and Higley would be thrown out of ABC, and half the casts of AMC and OLTL would be fired. Pretty sure McTavish's "connection with the audience" is at an all-time low.

GH has been much worse for much longer. Just because it's not quite as awful as it had been doesn't mean it's anything great. It's still bad.

Only now the other 2 shows have joined it in becoming dark, nasty, & awful.

I can't deal with any of the ABC soaps anymore.

It's an appalling situation. All 3 used to be so much better than the messes they've become.

Even worse than the overwhelming darkness is the network belief that everything should be about shocks, yelling or screeching, & hokey stunts in order to "grab" the viewers' attention.

Good solid storytelling goes a long way towards getting attention & loyalty (see Y&R if you want THAT.) But ABC has totally lost any of that.

It all reminds me of post-Dobson Santa Barbara but on a much worse level. So much worse. ABC is like later Santa Barbara run amok. That version of Santa Barbara was mostly men with guns yelling about nothing. GH is a much nastier & far more violent version of that kind of business (though I have to admit it has made some improvement once Pratt left.)

I agree. AMC and OLTL have had extended periods of greatness in the last five years, but I can't think of a time when GH was truly good for more than a week at all.

Interesting note, regarding Frons's love for shirtless men. I'm watching a "Martha" rerun from Halloween, and Cameron M. is on it (dressed as Tarzan - HOTTTTTTTTTTTT) and Martha asked him if he put it in his contract to not be shirtless so much, and he said no, but he did tell them that he only wanted to be shirtless when it made sense.

Aren't there rumors already that he's among the many at AMC who are unhappy? If so, that just fuels it even more. When the person that's been given non-stop story ever since he returned is complaining about things, there NEEDS to be a change.

Now Malone had entire weeks at 2.4. Higley has had days but not weeks. So to that extent she is doing better. His highs were higher and lasted much longer. His lows were lower and lasted longer. Her average is probably 2.6 and that is abysmal.

It's just a matter of time in my opinion though before OLTL hits 2.4. At this pace, I think it will register a 2.3 this summer and I bet AMC does too.

I don't see any soap getting above the 3.0 point and staying there for extended periods except the two that are already there. The others just seem to rotate back and forth in the 2.4 to 2.8 range. One week, GH is at 2.8, then you'll see DOOL up there.

ABC soaps are not enjoyable now though. Yes, like DOOL, they can be good. But the 3.0 things just isn't going to be happening in my opinion.

ABC uses tired old formulas, particularly Higley. They are still trying the things that worked 20 years ago with Luke and Laura. How many more summers are we going to watch some couple go on the run from some murderer and the summer young hottie, shirtless men and boobs formula.

What DOOL now is doing and it is working is trying to bring back viewers who still watch soaps but have turned the channel. A lot of folks, myself included, are heading over there to watch Patch and Kayla.

ABC will have to go into complete overhaul with new writing staffs if they expect to stay in the race with Days.

I agree that a lot of people are going to tune back into Days because Hogan Sheffer has taken over and Steve and Kayla have returned.

Network suits need to get over their obsession with the younger actors. Of course, it's cheaper to have them around, rather than a vet. But the majority of soap fans want quality acting instead of watching shirtless guys all the time.

DAYS doesn't use tired old formulas? Say hello to my pals Austin, Sami, Lucas, and Carrie.

Same here. That whole thing was done so...just awkwardly I think. Whether people admit it or not, Star was one of the reasons why the show was such a hit. Meredith, Star, and Joy made the show what it is, with Barbara's guidance. Without Meredith, without Star, the show is NOT "The View" anymore. The second Rosie O'Donnell throws a koosh ball into the audience, I am never, ever, ever, ever watching the show ever again.

That would be the equivalent of Erica Kane dying at the hands of...well...anybody. It would disgust the hell out of me.

I could never really get into watching "The View" but axing Star and replacing her with Rosie O'Donnell was an assinine decision.

That was recycle Reilly's thing.

Like I said in the other thread, Frons is the LAST person that needs to talk about someone being looked at negatively by the fans and needing to be fired

Yes. Frons is no better than any of the View woman himself. He's just an instigative, vindictive little !@#$%^&*]. I still cannot get over how he sits with GH at the Emmys and doesn't even stand up or clap when AMC or OLTL win something. When Helen Wagner caome out on the stage this year, you could see the little pocket of Frons and his GH friends just standing there, looking like they didn't want to but were doing in just to look good. There was one !@#$%^&*] who yawned and rolled her eyes!

OMG are you serious? I noticed him and his posse could have cared less about Wagner and the ATWT tribute but not the person yawning and rolling her eyes. I can't understand how anyone would want to work at GH. Frons, Phelps, Phelps buddy producers who are apparently just as !@#$%^&*]y as her.... it must be hell unless you're in the Sonny/Maurice posse.

First of all I'm glad Star Jones is off the show. She is self-absorbed and a truly bad person to serve in a position where people are expected to look at her and say Yes, I trust that woman. She's is an idiot and I'm glad she's gone. In my opinion it is one of the few things Brian Frons has done right. Goodness talk about someone who is an advertisement for greed and vanity, Star Jones is it. She bought boobs, she bought a face lift, she bought a tummy tuck and then lied about it, she used her position on the show to get her wedding paid for by advertisers. She is no victim. I would have been fired from my job had I acted in the same manner as her.

Now back to the original topic.

I don't know about all of ABCD, but OLTL is hurting. Higley has never written well for the Buchanans. Since Valentini has become EP, it has been the parade of newbies.

This show is about families. It is about Lords/Buchanans/Cramers.

there is now ay in hell they are going to bring in a bunch of teen age viewers when they can't even keep their base. I think OLTL is in trouble and will continue to spiral until someone says what is this show all about and commits a plan that recongizes what this show is all about.
