Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso are also going to be given a month off, so Dee's fans aren't the only ones that are going to be doing without their favorite stars. I certainly believe Drake will take the paycut, and certainly Ms. Hall should as well if she cares anything about the shows survival. The reason Jason Cook is leaving is not because of the money, but because of projects he wants to see through. He had the "out" clause and wants to use it. She was completely MIA many times for weeks at a time in 2004 and 2005 and Days has not given Draker and her a story that puts them on every day since the SSK murders. During the island, Drake was on alot but Dee wasn't and same goes during the castle story. I do think there is more to this because both mags are saying this is cost cutting and Dee and Drake were chosen because there story was over and all the other vets still had story in play. These last few years show that maybe there is something we don't know about their cotracts-especially Dee since she has had a few mini breaks and then the large break from like November 2004-March 2005 where she worked like 11 days or something. I am mad and a little worried about it but really we have seen this happen before only it was never announced and made this big a deal. I think Dee's contract being up and the changes at Days are adding fuel to the fire. Days planned to do this under Higley but they changed their minds and then they gave Dee and Drake a one month break in summer 2003 and brought Drake back when Abe died and Dee back a week before Jack died. Dee and Drake and some others have had long breaks before so it is not a big deal other then because of the contracts and the upcoming changes. Plus, Days came out and told us ahead rather then back burnering them and not seeing them and having people write in and complain until finally the mags addressed it and Days addressed it in the mags (like Days did when Dee was MIA in the last few years and commented when fans were writing letters). Dee and Drake aren't going anywhere. Corday knows they are popular and that Dee is the face of Days and mosy likely NBC daytime. Even alot of non-soap fans know her and she helps to sell the show and promote it. I would be stunned if they went anywhere unless it was of their own choosing. Members Bree Posted June 17, 2006 Members Share Posted June 17, 2006 Jason was not the best actor, but when he was away from Farah, he was okay. Sad thing is, he liked working with Farah. Why? The girl is like the Tara Reid of soaps, and from what I hear, she has a bad attitude off screen. I won't be sad to see him go though. But the show has to recast. He is the son of two core, veteran characters, and without him, the Claire story won't have any closure. I can't see NBC hiring Chad Brannon (who would ROCK), or giving the role to another established young soap star. NBC loves to hire newcomers with no real soap experience in major parts (despite them landing James Scott for EJ) so if they don't bring back Colin for Shawn, they'll probably hire another male model, or cast from the big pile of ex-reality show hasbeens. As for Dee and Drake, I don't think they're going anywhere. I think they will re-sign, and by the end of the year, they might get another big story---unless Hogan will not focus on them. Ya'll did see his film about the girls didn't you. That sort of thing is what he hopes to do and get a series under contract. My imagination can think of a lot of ways this could go, but it's wild speculation and so it's staying under wraps unless part starts unfolding. If Sheffer is staying close to the current storylines on Days, I hope he quickly ends the pregnancy story for Belle and Mimi. These girls need to be finishing college and thinking about careers, not bottles and diapers. I hate what JER did with them. Hogan could send them back to college off-screen and in a few months bring them back with degrees and jobs that could fit in with stories. Yes, Jason likes to work with Farah and does not cater to the political party lines that want Shelle. The actress with the bad attitude is Kirsten Storms. I wasn't aware that Jason did a film. Also, Days may have planned a Shawn and Belle coupling, but the actor didn't have his heart in it. I'm proud of him for staying true to himself. I also like his chemistry with Martha and Farah. I can't believe it's almost been 7 years since he came.....he's the last original teen from the teen invasion in 1999. But she was the first Mimi to be part of a story instead of just a sounding board to Belle (which was the original Mimi). Don't exactly remember when she first aired though. She's actually been with the show longer than Jason Cook, who didn't appear until October 1999. However, Fath didn't get a contract until April 2000.
