@soapfan770 I barely watched any of this run so I can't even properly clown but thank you for all the time taken. The highlights are the soul-sucking images of Jason Thompson, who seems to look more like Peter Bergman than he probably should.

Poor Chris Cousins. I guess a check is a check.

What is that awful etch-a-sketch design in the background of one of those sets?

Out of context that Two Chads photo is surprisingly hot.

Actually, Gillian Houghton was headwriter at that time. I have a feeling it was a production decision, however.
When Agnes was writing the show, there seemed to be some movement towards the Midwest setting although it was never explicit. For example, when Julie Bauer was committed to a mental institution, it was first called "Ocean View" and then it was, handwritten, changed to "Lakeview". I don't know any other reason for the switch other than the fact that they were trying to move the setting. The name of "Los Angeles" hadn't been used for years and the name "Selby Flats" hadn't been used for an even longer time. Much longer.

Whoa. When he was on Soapy, Rebecca and Greg asked Ron what he was working on and he didn't give a specific answer. In the same conversation he also mentioned having dinner with Agnes Nixon a few times even once in her home, which was the penthouse of a hotel in Manhattan and how Agnes would call down to the kitchen and order dinner. How loaded was Agnes such that she can live in a hotel with full time room service? So cool.

Agnes had been writing the show for years, so the decision to change the locale after all that time seems odd.

I speculate that Agnes Nixon was uneasy with the "exotic" California location and wanted a more vague "any town" location that anyone could identify with (at least in her own mind). I do wish she had simply moved some of the characters to from Selby Flats to Springfield in the scripts -- and not changed the show's location so mysteriously and magically. I'd love to know how viewers at the time felt about the change, or if they even noticed it.

Interesting. So the location of GL was not mentioned at all for over two years? I know when Mike Bauer crossed-over to Another World (wasn't that in 1965?), he never mentioned "Springfield" or "Selby Flats," he only referred to his "home town" without naming it.

Y&R: Josh Griffith steps down as head writer

Exactly. Almost everyone on the show is super rich which takes out a huge opportunity for story and conflict. Where are the people who are trying to claw their way up in life?
That...and the complete lack on "Young" in the "Young and the Restless" has been an issue for a long time.
Trying to make RH play another rapist turned leading man was just another bad decision in a long line of them.
