I'll join the list of those who don't want a "Who's the Daddy" story with Eva. I don't want Kat mixed in there, either.

As others have said, the potential in doing that is isolating characters from family they already have. What's to gain except the shock value of the reveal?

We're conditioned by soaps to default to the paternity reveal, and I hope the BTG writers avoid that.

A HUGE agree from me on that. I’ve seen paternity reveals totally derail soaps over the years. I’ll never forgive Y&R and Lynn Marie Latham for the Katherine/Jill reveal. And it was all reversed a few years later anyway. Also, I groan when I think about Richard Channing being Angela’s son on Falcon Crest (that reveal was handled HORRIBLY by the writers too — somehow the whole town just suddenly knew about it but no one was shown being told about it and it had almost zero implications on the characters overall). I feel that most of the time, these “shocking reveals” that change family dynamics hurt the shows overall. And like you said, after the shock, often the writers have nowhere to go with the story. There’s plenty of drama to be mined from characters without half of the town finding out that they have a different mother or father than they previously thought.

I will never stop beating the drum of what a horrible, off-putting, and irrelevant character Ashley is, and what a boring actress Jen Jacob is (she can’t rise above the horrible writing for her charac

MVJ definitely needs to slow down with her unwarranted fascination with Jon Lindstrom - the character is awfully written, but there is nothing interesting about Lindstrom’s performance either. Frankly

I personally don't think that disliking White Savior Joey is an indication the character is working. If it's a choice between King Joey and Duprees Strong, I choose neither.

I think Martin was too quick to condemn Kat. There needed to be more time before he took that stance.

But to me Martin/Smitty are always holier than thou in their interactions with others. The dull Gays.

It was over the top. He didn't even give Kat a moment before tearing into her. I really hope that the writers circle back to why he is always so venomous towards her. Martin killed a man, albeit a racist, and his tongue just drips with acid like the holier-than-thou jerk he is for the sister he was raised with. Kat needs someone who is on her side or, at the very least, gives her the benefit of doubt. That's what a big brother should be.

Vote for whoever is running against Martin Richardson.

LOL! I don't know about that. It might be a ***** apologist. We need that to go away completely.

Im disgusted with how everyone is treating Kat. She has a right to choose what she wants to with HER OWN body

I thought the Izaiah/Kat scene was well done. They played off of each other well and Kat clearly stated her hesitation. I'm not a Kat fan, but I feel bad for her and can understand her hesitation.

Daphne is bringing it today! The aftermath setting in on Nicole was sad and Daphne did it without the extra histrionics some actresses would slip into. If only this would lead to Nicole making her choice finally and picking Kial.

The Ted/Kat scenes were also really well done! The writer for today I think nailed the emotional beats well and every actor hit them without overdoing it. Even Leslie!

The show needs to keep this style going!

original release date: Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (#310) | writers: Natalie Minardi Slater, Judy Tate | director: Michael V. Pomarico

Thoughts:

  • Do not comfort her, Izaiah; she is getting what she deserves. She should be alone. Isolated. And ignored.

  • Results time. Praying Bradley or Martin are potential matches for Eva! Please, oh please be a match!

  • It is sweet that Jan stayed at Ashley's place until she got home. That is a true momma bear.

  • Aw, so sweet of Kial to FaceTime Nicole and check in on her and her family. And sweet of him to want to come over and really check on her.

  • Ashley, do not sell yourself short. You handled yourself incredibly well at the country club.

  • Shows how much of a bigger person Shanice is to show some kindness and compassion to Dana, considering all that the latter has done and treated her with.

  • DAMN! I was hoping one of them would have been a match for Eva. Ugh. That is so upsetting. And Ted, stop making excuses from the spoilt, self-centred bitch. It is not about being hardwired differently. It is about being a decent human being, which Katherine is not capable of being.

  • This is not about things that Eva has done; this is the same bullsh*t you pulled when it came to being tested for the BRCA2 gene. God. You are INSUFFERABLE. You should have been the one hurt underneath the stairs, not Eva. 🤬

  • I do love that Kial showed up to be there for Nicole. A genuine, standup guy. That is a true gentleman right there.

  • Get her, Izaiah. Unleash your anger on her. She fully deserves it. And YOU DID NOT CARE ABOUT EVA AT ALL! YOU BITCHED AND MOANED, ACCUSING HER OF BEING LAZY AND OVERDRAMATIC! Ugh. Gross. Uncouth. Good on Izaiah for not holding back and telling it to her like no one else in her family, outside of Martin, has done.

  • Of course Dana would take a kind, generous gesture as Shanice trying to gain points with Ted. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • Yes, you do not have Ted anymore, Nicole, but you have a solid guy in Kial with you, and that is what counts. He is there for you in this moment.

  • A little step towards reconnecting with Grayson. That was a good thing, Ashley. I promise it was.

  • Aw, the memories just flooding back from Eva's childhood for Dana... this definitely humanises her. So precious.

  • Aw... Kial just offering to hold Nicole while she sleeps is precious. I want and need that in my life sometimes. So solid.

  • I genuinely hope that everything Dana is saying sorry for is heartfelt and true, because that kind of vulnerability is rare, especially coming from her.

  • Say no, Ted! Just say no! Go on and say NO! Of course that spoilt, self-centred bitch would not want to be a match. God. If Eva dies, I pray that weighs on her conscience until her own dying day.

Notes:

  • Ah. Breath of fresh air. Slater is the gold standard for this soap. Her scripts are just... incredible. Truly incredible. And Tate did stellar in flushing everything out with the dialogue. It felt so nice and hit every single emotional beat that needed to be hit.

  • I appreciate that Ambyr Michelle (Eva) is not lying awkwardly in the hospital bed like [most] American soaps have their actors do. It feels more realistic and authentic.

  • Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) gave a really heartbreaking performance in today's episode. She is such a standout on the cast for me. I never saw her other soap work prior to Beyond the Gates, but it baffles me how she was not a more prominent figure in the genre. She is genuinely so solid in her acting choices.

  • Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) showed up during the second half of the episode to give another incredible performance. She can perform over the top too much, but when she is able to play those smaller, more concise moments, she shines so much.

Colby has me crying buckets. This week has belonged to her and Trisha so far and its only Wednesday

Ashley Jones is pretty good as lady boss Heather so far IMO. Even if she is definitely giving Sarah Brown and Gina T. and I’m envisioning both in her place, she's giving their same energy. Making me wonder about a world where she was one of the Carlys tbh.
