I am so ready for the month of June for Beyond the Gates!

I'm anxious to see how the Y&R crossover is handled and if it gives a bump to BTG's ratings. They should definitely make sure Grayson, Kial, Pamela are in the eps too, as they were once part of the Y&R cast. Maybe interest potential new viewers enough to stick around and check them out.

You can already predict that the breakdown was bad.

Really like the shirt Andre is wearing. On the other hand, the jacket Joey is wearing… yikes.

Thoughts:

  • Look at Andre reaching "favourite" status. That is a milestone for him with Chelsea. But that means the shoedrop must be around the damn corner.

  • Strawberry-infused chocolate on the lips first thing in the morning? Okay, Naomi. I see the kind of game you are playing. You get it from your grandparents!

  • Good advice from Nicole: stop policing your feelings! She is not lying. Again, grief is not linear, and Vanessa's feelings are valid and worth experiencing.

  • Damnit Ted, you and that mouth of yours. Should have kept it shut.

  • I love that Vanessa focused on the word "thrust" in Nicole's story. That is right. Be unapologetically you. And do not be shamed by it.

  • Not Randy tripping up on his words in trying to be attentive to Joey. He must forget he was this close to being removed, permanently, from the world.

  • Looks like things are back to normal with Jacob and Naomi, except for Jacob having some PTSD from that night at the warehouse. That is going to be... interesting long term.

  • I love how entertained Vanessa happens to be. It is not often she gets to be in this position... and I am glad she is able to get Nicole to open up about what she is feeling.

  • Vanessa's eyes perking up at Nicole saying "half-cocked" is such a hint at just how suggestive things can get, and she is just like everyone who would likely do the same thing.

  • I like that Shanice and Ted can talk through their stuff and that it is not just drowned by drama or quips to each other.

  • I appreciate Andre doing his best to take an interest in Chelsea and her career. Shows he is really trying to make an honest effort.

  • Joey, this is where you are wrong: sometimes, "kids" do know who they are, and not all adults do. Very old-fashioned kind of mindset to have.

  • I am surprised Nicole is approaching Ted to actually talk about her fantasies concerning him and is having them while in front of him. Sweetie, your feelings and desires are unresolved.

  • Oops. Naomi, letting that slip out is going to come back and haunt you. This is why you cannot keep keeping the truth a secret.

  • Poor Vanessa is truly going through it now that memories of Douglas' final talk with her are flooding back into her mind. She masked her grief by consuming Joey... and now it is coming right back up to the surface.

  • I feel like the talk that Andre and Chelsea are having should be one with Naomi. Truly!

Notes:

  • Jumpy breakdown today. The narrative was not strong, which unfortunately meant that the scripted dialogue was lacking on the overall scale. Poor start to the week after how solid last week was.

  • The lighting on this soap continues to be top-tier. So sun-kissed and stunning.

I enjoyed the Naomi/Jacob scenes and Andre/Chelsea. I find both Naomi and Chelsea annoying a lot lately, but I highly prefer how they were written today. It's nice to see Andre grow closer to at least one of Dani's daughters. Interesting though that both Andre and Ted brought up Andre's parents again today. So, are they dead? Is that another "secret" Ted has hid away from everyone just as Nicole is starting to get closer and Andre is headed to Hong Kong?

There needs to be something new with Vanessa and Joey. They've gotten very stale. Not that I've ever really enjoyed them to begin with.
