Is JPL bringing parts of himself to this role. Sure. I OK with that.

He's way too quirky. I don't mind JPL as a person or an actor. It's just not what the only child of Kate and Victor is especially after we saw JKJ in the role for years. It's not making it your own. It's literally changing Phillip to be what JPL wants to play it as.

Rory Gibson for example gave Michael a different life and vibe than Chad Duell did. It still works. Whatever JPL is doing does not work for me.

Despite JPL's quirks and Paula/Jeanne's mistakes, I think the writing for Philip has improved under them.

I guarantee you that Kyle Brandt didn't need a dictionary. He's a Princeton graduate, not just a reality star who fell into a soap role.

He's now a regular on Good Morning Football on the NFL Network, and anyone who knows his work knows how intelligent and creative he is. I think he's one of the brightest and most entertaining sports journalists in the business.

Added bonus? He speaks veery fondly and respectfully of his time on DAYS.
