This is so condescending just because everyone doesn’t think the same as you two.

Since @Liberty City was responding to me and you decided to include me in your response to him by saying you two, I looked back at my post history to see what I said that would make you include me in your response and I couldn't find it.

The fact is Y&R's stayed on top due to viewer loyalty and inertia. I don't think current Y&R is any good but a crossover with BTG helps BTG due to that audience (and is hopefully a good sign for renewal, as it should be happening well after when a decision will be made by the network).

I think you're correct about the cross-over being a good sign for renewal. Will it bring new viewers, time will tell.

Yep. Some people are happy only if you describe every element of the show as if it's rainbows shooting out of a unicorn's ass.

We are far too deep into the show now for it to be this unheard of thing to criticize what isn’t working.

While I totally agree everyone is entitled to their opinions some of the criticism BTG is receiving almost makes me think we're watching a different show.

We're all aware of the budgetary constraints that all the daytime soaps must contend with. BTG is no different just because it's the new kid on the block. The team that BTG has in place is trying to avoid the pitfalls that the other canceled soaps faced.

There are constant complaints about the lack of sets but TPTB are always a step ahead and new sets are popping up regularly.

My point for this post is to say, yes, nothing is perfect but why drag the show for filth after 14 months when it doesn't deserve it IMO. Thanks and Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

The budget issues at all soaps are real and I respect them. But for all his faults, if Frank Valentini was running this show (which I do not advocate!) you would not see almost the entire undercover story being done at the Sesame Street-looking D'Angelo Barksdale Memorial Corner. And there would be a courtroom set for Naomi, Bill, etc. That as well as the lack of the clinic (a key new environment) are major gaps that need to be filled.

+1 All those sets are much needed at this point.

Of course Joey tricked him into submission. Joey is the smartest wisest person to ever be born. I really hope Deanna never falls for the bull. I’m hoping her mom blatantly and poorly lying to her face, keeps her from ever changing sides.

My issue with Joey is how out of place his whole mobster shtick feels in the overall vibe of the show. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this, I don't know... but every time I see him (I'm not talking about the actor) it's like I've accidentally opened somee old forgotten drawer and I'm hit with this moldy grandma's house smell. Someone needs to close that drawer and take the trash out on the way out. And y'all know who I'm talking about. The one note nymphomaniac perhydrol lying fake bitch. If you are going to keep her, give her more than 3 brain cells PLEASE.

-- The Carlton and Ted scenes are pathetic. It is INSANE to me that these two can have bro discussions about dating Nicole. I don't buy any of it.

Me neither. I mean... is this an early 2000s sitcom. Who wrote these scenes? LOL.

P.S. I'm finally up to date... with both the soaps I'm watching - Bold and BTG... And I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Bold is more exciting right now... Yes... hell has frozen over... I SAID IT.

Personally, I don't think Bill Bell ever concerned himself with sweeps.

I don't think he did either.

I do agree with you. Regardless of the reason, they have to start loosening up the stories so they can peak at different times.

Very much so. They found their rhythm at the end of last year. What happened?

I want movement, too. My point is that it's a mistake to drag so many stories until this antiquated sweeps thing.

Same. Some of these stories should have exploded in February or at least shifted into another level/new direction. So the abrupt stop in movement mid-month hurt them.

Maybe other boards and pages aren't mentioning this as a problem, but that doesn't mean it isn't one or that we're wrong.

Very.

Same. Carlton/Nicole are off the charts heat generating. Kial/Nicole are barely lukewarm.

Y&R/B&B in the Bill Bell years was never about sweep stunts.

TBF, Bill Bell stories always came together naturally. And there were B plots going building. And C plots starting.

I think that is absolutely correct. Bill Bell did not listen to the noise. He did what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.

It worked out pretty well for him.

You would be saddened to see how far Y&R has fallen.

I watched a few episodes recently and was really shocked at how awful it is now.

But it still has a loyal audience and a cross-over would probably help out BTG.

That's the old-fashioned way of writing soaps. Harding Lemay mentioned in his memoir that that's how Irna Phillips taught him how to write a soap opera.

Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. It makes sense to have plot lines in its beginning stages, some at the middle phase, and at least one heading soon towards its resolution.

Obviously, this is one of the challanges of starting a new soap opera where all or most of the storylines are starting on Day One. But BTG has been on over a year, it should be settling into that kind of rhythm by now.

I'm still watching, but as others have said, I feel like the show just drags. Most times I just have it on in the background.

I wish something, ANYTHING big would happen.

I wonder what the thought process is of having all these stories kind of limp along with no real movement.

There have been a few times BTG did lock into that. I was happy to see they found their rhythm. And even at the start of this year, it seem like they had it then as well. I don't know what happened outside of waiting for the new writers to gell with the old writers like what happened last year once the writers got used to the rhythm of soap writing.

It sounds like this past week got the momentum back, but there was no need to kill it in the first place back in February.
