I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but wow at Cassius being in on everything from the beginning. Makes you wonder now if he actually likes Lulu or not. Also curious to see how he has memories/knows things about Nathan's life (like Maxie, etc).

Sidwell seems to be over Marco's death - he's pretty blase about it today.

I'm about to watch the episode in a few minutes but the actor who plays Sidwell reminds me of a rollercoaster. He can chew a scene like a ham sandwich (like Marco's death) and then he's very laid back.

In the last thread, I think @ranger1rg mentioned that Sidwell is pulling all the strings and it's way too much. He's currently threatening Laura, Sonny, Drew, Willow and is some mastermind behind fake Nathan. GH needs to pull back. Making him Willow's overlord was a jump the shark moment for me.

And yes, Happy anniversary GH! It's currently my favorite soap and the most consistent with story and pacing.

"Cassius Faison" (no comment) is just another iteration of the same story with Peter/Heinrich. I don't care. I've never cared about Faison or Obrecht's secret children. I knew this was a likely explanation and I could not care less. I am just glad Nathan himself is likely still rotting in the ground.

I knew it couldn't be Nathan when he looked to Jason upon finding the crime scene on the docks and asked what the play was. Nathan was no brilliant detective but as a lawman he was by the book, and would've taken Rocco in and treated him fairly, not involved the boy or Lulu in a cover-up. Doing that gives him and Sidwell leverage over Lulu (another exciting story where Sidwell has half the cast over a barrel).

It’s an example of how the show is structured around twists and not around telling a full story. Just like we got the Willow reveal with drugging Drew then the story disappears for weeks. Marco’s mom’s death. Marco’s death. Look at Trina and Kai knowing the truth about Willow. Laura’s involvement with Sidwell. It limps along and gets lip service between the needed twists.

It’s reminiscent of the breakneck pace Melrose Place used to employ, and it chewed up several characters pretty quickly there. It was fun to watch, and so is GH through this style. But nothing really matters because everybody just picks up and heads to the next danger.

Carlivati or Higley could be writing this show. I hate all these dumb brainwashing, twins, back from the dead with a computer chip, frozen in a chamber I can't even keep up with what all the writers over the years since Labine have done. Korte/Van Etten are weak.

Basically. But I wonder if an actor the caliber of David Canary could make this work. You really did think Stuart and Adam Chandler were two different people on All My Children.

RP is giving me nothing. He doesn't distinguish between Nathan and Cassius. The writing made it obvious he was a fake but he could've added some nuance.

I just hope this doesn't drag out as long as Peter/Heinrich. I had to stop watching GH for a while over that.

RP of all people playing a villain or twin is an idiotic choice only FV would pursue out of his obvious lust for this stud ever since 2014. He's always been a sucker for hiring a hunk and trying to backfill his weaknesses later.

I was never impressed with Ryan Paevey during his first stint but since returning, I've enjoyed him much more. This go 'round is better, even if the twist was predictable and clearly changed from the moment of his return to now.

I think this was always the plan - KS' absence just put a big wrench in the execution.

I don't know; part of me thinks there was a different plan, re: reveal and they switched it up once Kirsten Storms' return wasn't as long-term as the writers had been hoping for.

I know this board in general hates Ryan Paevey, but I have no problem with what you call a lack of nuance.

From Day One, many of us suspected Paevey wasn't playing Nathan -- because we've all watched soaps since forever. So while "we knew" it wasn't Nathan, we really didn't KNOW it wasn't Nathan until yesterday. Why give that up sooner with nuance? I don't see any reason to do that.

We got writing clues, and many people caught them, again because we've all watched soaps since forever.

Ryan Paevey isn't a great actor, but this role doesn't require that. I personally think he's a great soap hunk who's good in the role. Am I partial to him because he's great eye candy? DUH.

I have a hard time criticizing Paevey's acting when there's worse all over the canvas. As has been pointed out, Carlo Rota is all over the place. Sometimes he's good, but he's also an outrageous scene-chewer. Now he's underplaying his own son's death. Van Hansis is now playing Marco's death like it's just another day at Port Charles -- and is incredibly bad at playing a doctor.

So yeah, I'm OK with Ryan Paevey.

At least Van Hansis chews scenery. Ryan's never been able to even mouth it. Which is what this role requires.
