The version I heard was that FV considered making her Robin in 2014-15 despite Kimberly regularly being available and it being RC stalling out that story lol. High on their own supply (if it was true). No one would've tolerated that, though Daytime Confidential and a couple others dutifully tried floating the trial balloon for him. This was in the dying days when Jamey, etc. kept running interference for Frank and Ron gushing about all their star hires like Stafford and so forth, up until FV shivved Ron and suddenly they all began to admit the stories and characters hadn't worked.

Budig makes much more sense age wise for Robin rather than Brenda, but what a horrible idea either way lol. FV/RC could probably think they could get away with a recast Brenda, but who would ever accept a recast Robin?

Yeah, I stopped visiting DC years ago. I remember them hyping bringing the OLTL brood back as different characters like it was a genius idea, not one they were literally forced to do and should have cut the losses then.

They were pure starfúckers in those days, and clearly had a close relationship to the show and Ron at that point. They were the biggest voices pushing that OLTL was Ron and Frank and vice versa, and really disdained and ran down the PP shows preemptively because of that. (Prospect Park had many issues, but not giving Cartini sole creative ownership of OLTL was not among them) DC was very influential back then but it's a different world now, I haven't been there in many years and I don't know who still pays attn to them.

Of course those guys also thought FV and RC were inseparable forever and an immortal dream team, and I knew that wasn't true. It didn't surprise me when Frank cut Ron loose to keep his job. It wouldn't have surprised them, if any of them had actually paid attention to OLTL or his stewardship of it (which was reasonable enough but extremely pragmatic) before Ron became HW. Jamey among others openly admitted he'd barely watched the show lol.

Many of their articles or comments ended up just being rage bait to me, intended or not. I swear I remember some there actually calling Judith Light ungrateful for not returning to OLTL for Cartini slop.

I think the difference with Ava is that at core she is a villain and a very arch, cynical personality. When they try to domesticate her it rings false for me because that is not who she is or how she's meant to function. From the very first day she appeared she has been right on the edge of high camp. That's not a bad thing IMO because Maura ate the role alive with gusto at that time and often still does, but the writing struggles to keep up with who she is. Which is part of why her being relegated to C-story is tedious for me.

That's why I would have killed her off in 2024 if that's where the story was going, although I'm glad Maura still has a gig.

You may well be right, but I've also made my case for why I wouldn't before so I won't rehash that. I would let her run as long as possible but would probably still kill her someday down the road (she'd probably last longer than Willow, but I'd also try to keep Willow for at least another 2-4 years).

I couldn't fault anyone for killing Ava off at this point. I just ask that it be done in proper fashion in a grand blaze of glory.

Ava and Nina are both something of a struggle for me, but when she gets the chance I think Watros can find more of a real person in Nina, whereas Ava, outside of some nice moments with her female friendships, is all artifice.

I think this is why the mask slipping and then coming fully off with Ava in those Mulcahey era scenes with Nina and Alexis were so thrilling and memorable to me.

IA. As much as I dislike the character, Maura West has always played her to the hilt - just as she plays anything - so for that reason alone, she deserves a real exit. Like, Vivica A. Fox running for that bus exit.

No to killing Ava off. Period.

I agree. Sidwell & his empire should be taken over by Ava Jerome which would give her front burner stories for years to come. Perhaps with some twisted stories coming up, I am speculating if Sidwell dies, Ava should inherit his fortunes and run as the Mob Boss again....

The Lulu/Nathan/Maxi storyline is just ridiculous. Have Lulu and Nathan even held hands?

Patience my friend. Nathan and Lulu are in the "puritan" phase...

MEK is looking really good these days. Whatever he is doing is working.

Is Molly's endo a new storyline or has the audience known this about her already? I have a very close friend with endo and I know how awful it can be.

It's not new considering that's the whole reason she had to have a surrogate, but it wasn't an issue until 2024 or whenever they started recasting Molly. So the audience has been well aware of her lack of concern on taking care of herself for at least two years.
