New year, old crap!

The warmth of this flashback episode is what's missing in today's Y&R. I know we had it when we first transitioned to high definition, but we lost it. I wish there were some way, in post, to restore it. It was the signature William J. Bell look that I feel like would definitely help the show feel familiar.

DAYS and Y&R used to be kings at the extreme close-up. Yet, once everybody transitioned to HD - which is still a bitch! - it seems like they and every other show stopped doing what I call the "nostril shot."

I definitely feel like it's because they have to crop episodes into 4:3 for those without high-definition television or not watching on the high-definition station. And it isn't just a daytime issue; it's an overall television issue.

What is the backstory on Katherine/Jill at this time?

This is when Victoria was pregnant with Claire/Eve

fyi a brief New York City mayoral inauguration was held legally just after midnight last night. The full public ceremony is happening during the day today Jan. 1st, followed by a public block party, and some of that is being televised.
CBS news coverage might overlap with the soaps in some markets.

Now THAT is how you do a reveal. You don't discuss it for episodes on end; you save it until the end of the episode. Yes.

Jill was claiming that Phillip II wanted her to have the Chancellor estate, thus her attempting to evict Katherine.

Who was HW during this time?

Kay Alden

Kay Alden became HW in July 1998. I'm not sure how much of Bill Bell's material she was working off of in the beginning.
