Only 15 minutes in, but already I'm rolling my eyes.

-- No way would Anita put Leslie in charge of the Winterfest guest list and invitations. Isn't that what Laura is for? Why entrust the town nutjob and the person intent on wrecking your family with this task?

-- Caroline's interest in Bill and Hayley's marriage is also over-the-top. I just can't with this.

-- No way would Kat go to Hayley for advice on dealing with Eva. This show needs better motivations for character discussions.

-- In other news, the country club hasn't yet replaced the chef.

  • The banter between Bill, Caroline, and Tomas is nice to see... but Caroline is slapping it on thick about the concern for the con artist child bride. I know they have become friends (at least on Caroline's part) but damn.
  • Not the con artist child bride eyeing her next sexual conquest... and here comes the spoilt, entitled bitch wanting information. These two belong together. They really do.
  • So, Anita entrusted Dana with mailing out the invites to Winterfest? Oh, this is going to be messy house-down boots. I know it.
  • I love that Mona is not letting up on her hatred of Dana on behalf of Laura; that is someone you want in your corner. So loyal and undying.
  • I think it is cute that Andre is professing all of this to Dani, but she is going to run the moment Bill's situation is made known to her.
  • Mater-D? That is not how you pronounce that word. Of course she would not know how to pronounce it... that job is beneath her.
  • Welp... Jacob just dropped the bomb about Naomi seeing the text message about the birth control prescription to Bill. Let's see how this goes down!
  • The con artist child bride really thinks she can sink her teeth into Izaiah... but I do not see him wanting anything from her, especially if he knows Bill in the way we are meant to believe he does.
  • Of course Bill would jump to the immediate conclusion that Jacob cheated on Naomi. Not all men are cheaters.
  • Looks like the con is crumbling under the Parkers... and I love it.

Notes:

  • I swear, the less green production model that coincided with the arrival of Tracey Thomson is a much-welcomed change of visual. It was carrying into Days of Our Lives' 50th anniversary territory at times, and now, it is so much more satisfying to watch.
  • I appreciate the continued changing dynamics between characters as time has gone on; seeing Hayley and Katherine interact was not on my bingo card.
  • David Lami Friebe (Izaiah) continues to bobble his head, and his mannerisms are just... not working for me. Good actor, bad habits/tics.
  • The redesign of the "outside of Fairmont Crest" hotel room to be more L.A.-like over how it was during Joey and Vanessa's Puerto Rico trip.
  • No one does love scenes like Beyond the Gates. NO ONE.
  • The camera work in today's episode by Xavier is outstanding. So many great angles.

These two were working my nerves today. Not in a real bad way, but enough.

I love when soaps give us unexpected pairings.  Kat and Hayley was too funny. I hope to see more from them.

I just hate that Hayley's advice is wasted on Tomas.

I didn’t mind Hayley and Izaiah and like him with her more than Eva for the time being.

I'm noticing that since Tracy T's arrival as co-head writer that there seems to be a shifting in the dynamics of the Eva/Kat story.  It looks as though the show is slowly making Eva less of the antagonist in some instances while making Kat more of an antagonist in some instances.

It looks as though the main origin of their feud has also gone back to where it belongs... Ted, their father with Tomas being somewhat de-emphasized.  I also wonder if Iz (Jacob's brother) and Eva will be set up as an end game couple with Kat as spoiler with Tomas being further de-emphasized.

I wonder if this whole SPS arc with Winterfest will end up resembling the movie/book Carrie... since Anita/Nicole seem ok with letting SPS step in and I wonder if there will be some sort of payback/humiliation at Winterfest.

It was nice to see that Mona/Jan are still cool with one another.. and I have that the Have Not's will continue to have their mini story in the background with Mona rightly not budging on SPS due to Laura while Jan is caught in the middle because semi understands SPS (due to probably being the same way with a man that SPS was at one time) and also understanding Mona's perspective.

With Laura coming back on, plus Mona's stance... I do hope that there will be some movement on revealing what SPS did to Laura and that it won't be another fake-out like what had happened a few months ago.

I really hope this means that Tomas is slowly being phased out of the show and eventually by the end of the next season he gets written out altogether. I just don't think he's really needed at this point. But as much as I like Eva and Izaiah so far, I think it's way too early to call them endgame at this point. And I also hope that something interesting happens at Winterfest because if this show is devoting so much time to it, there better be some good payoff. And I hope that includes Leslie and Eva being exposed for their misdeeds and crimes.

Could Hayley enter nasty ho territory like Vanessa?

Hayley gives off ho in the street trying to be a lady in the street energy.

    • Sami's Three Stooges stole the show today

I enjoyed their individual scenes with other characters before they all came together at the Pub to commiserate over their relationships with Sami. I thought that was broken down pretty well. I just wish it had gone on a little longer. And I actually found it kinda funny too lol it seemed more mature than what we're used to. That's the kind of humor that should be on a soap. But I'm not really sure about all this talk of Dante Vitali and Sami's engagement though, especially since it doesn't look like Ali Sweeney is coming back anytime soon. What's the point of it all if we're (probably) not going to see it? It also looked like today was the first round of Brady vs. Xander as well lol I enjoyed their fight, and I'm interested in seeing this storyline play out. Even though I'm sure that Sarah will ultimately go back to Xander in the end, I'd like to see what happens along the way, and how they and everyone around them are affected by this. Btw, Theo and Jada? Idk. I still think he had the most chemistry with Arianna. And he was a bit of a dick too. It also seemed a little out of character for Jada to be so OK with him being such a dick  And though Alex and Stephanie were very boring again and need much better conflict than this book stuff, I am interested in the mystery of who's targeting Alex.  And yeah, I know this is a nitpick, but why is the Square still open after the gala? Isn't it supposed to be really late at night?
    • In fairness, Hillary and Bob Woods were thick as thieves again at least by the end of OLTL. But both she and I believe Mark Derwin not so subtly dissed Kale Browne in the oral history, lol.

    • Frat Boy Jr.'s reaction to seeing Luna was just awful acting. It was so bad that I started laughing.

Does anyone have screenshots of it?
    • Geez, I hadn't heard that Doctors story. HBS really did go through it.
    • No offense to the actors involved, but dear God in heaven: I don't know HOW viewers managed to get through that storyline with Maggie, Frank, Cal and baby Jill without running into oncoming traffic.  Then, to make matters worse, they dragged poor Diana into the mess!  I don't care WHO gets that damn baby!  Just wrap it up and move ON already!
    • Poor HBS.  To have to put up with Stephen Burleigh, who stuck his knee between her legs while rehearsing a love scene on THE DOCTORS, then told the director that's what he did with his wife; Kincaid, who had more hair on his chest and upper lip than Koko the Gorilla; Kale Browne, who taped his lines all over the OLTL studio floor, because he couldn't ever be bothered to [!@#$%^&*] memorize them; and Robert S. Woods, who apparently thought it was still 1979 and that he was still smolderingly sexy, so why should Bo Buchanan be stuck being in a happy marriage with Nora?  After all that, no wonder she jumped at the chance to play a lesbian on VENICE, lol.
    • @Maxim Thank you for the mini-review and clip from several pages ago. I appreciate you using the Bo/Alex clip as them meeting again by this point was a real surprise to me. The scene has some layers, getting a glimpse of Alex genuinely wanting the best for Bo rather than gloating. I was disappointed it ended with Tina dragging her out of the room for some much less interesting sparring (I did enjoy Alex pointing out just how quickly Tina got over Cord).
