Um, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford are responsible for todays episode. They are the headwriters. Ron Carlivati and Jamey Giddens were immediately hired by Michele Val Jean.

Aaron comes off as a pretty lousy friend here.

If what we think about Aaron is true I don't think he's a lousy friend.  Tate's always been a lousy friend to him. It's teenage stuff.  He could have hooked up with Sophia, she started dating Tate, said the baby was Tate's and dealt with his own major stuff being relieved he wasn't the father.  At 17 or 18 I don't expect everyone to be that mature.

But, the social worker came early for a surprise inspection?

The timeline didn't really make sense. The social worker came 30-45 minutes early, then they sat around eating pastries. Meanwhile Sophia sent the text and was later informed by Ari that Holly's whole episode happened "around 9 a.m." so... once again, time is a flat circle in Salem.

Today was an improvement over yesterday, even though I'm not a fan of some of these story decisions, especially with Johnny and Chanel.

But there was a lot more depth in today's script. And I'm very glad that Chanel realized so quickly that Johnny was being set up. She's way too smart to be so easily swayed. And I wouldn't mind seeing her and Johnny team up to get to the bottom of all this... until their next good conflict shows up 😂

I liked that Maggie was there to comfort Holly as well, and that she used her own history with Daniel to get Holly to understand what she did. They work very well together as grandmother and granddaughter.

Just as well as Brady and Tate work together as father and son actually. I'm still hoping that we get a scene of them discussing how Tate, who swore off drugs and alcohol because of his own parents' addictions, got drunk for the first time. This was a missed beat that could've led to a really good storyline.

But I'm still loving how smart Brady has become, and how he's figured out that basically all roads lead to Sophia. It really might be time for him to dump Titan and become a full time partner at BlackPatch.

To be clear, I think the blackout mostly sucked and the logistics were executed poorly. I just think they mostly explained the timing of Sophia’s dumb plan. And it is DUMB: she is already worried about being connected to that baby… so she writes an anonymous letter identifying the mother as someone who knows both Johnny and Holly — well enough to have seen what Holly was texting.

Today was a lesson for me personally in trusting the process.  It was about learning to just enjoy the show while I'm watching.  Rather that trying to stay two steps ahead.  And, I really need to stop torturing myself with spoilers.

All week, I was convinced Sophia was going to use that photo to publicly shame Holly in some over-the-top way—either to humiliate her or manipulate Tate into feeling sorry for her. Instead, what we got today was way more age appropriate.  Sophia was using her available resources, she didn't need a magic potion, or some huge plot.  It was not the smartest plan to get revenge on Johnny.  But, even that is explained by the fact that she's 18.

So, I'm relieved that despite herself, Sophia is not irredeemable.

Also, are we really meant to believe that no one has noticed anything about the baby's racial background? If the child has any visibly East Asian features—such as epicanthic folds, dark straight hair, or a flatter nasal bridge—it seems unlikely that no one would raise questions. It feels like, in trying to sidestep any racial dimension to this storyline, the show is bypassing what should be an obvious narrative complication.

I remember B&B once used the racial difference between a Black potential father and a white one as a built-in narrative clue in a “who’s the daddy” plot. So the absence of any commentary here—especially when the only East Asian family in town is Melinda and the Chois—really sticks out. I understand the desire to keep this about teenaged love, but it’s odd that race isn’t even part of the visual or social recognition around the baby.  For example, it would've been less complicated (and timelier to 18 months ago), if Sophia had written the social that she wished her baby to go to an East Asian home (although I recall Amy mentioning that during the adoption process).

BTW -- there's no politically correct way out of this, IMHO, because if they write that Tesoro has no traits, that assumes the non-Asian traits were dominant, which would be akin to erasure.

To be fair, multiple people have discussed the baby having Asian features.  Amy Choi told Leo he looks just like her son did as a baby, Sophia told Melinda everyone will know the baby is partly Asian, and Rafe, Leo, and Javi have all commented about it.  It's not like it's been completely ignored.

Agreed, but it clearly makes Brady look dumb, and once again something that Rafe could've mentioned to him..

I always thought Brady was kind of dumb to be honest lol.

I liked the idea today that he was channeling his father in order to suppress his dumb impulses.   His new mantra, "what would John Black have done?"

I think Brady has actually gone through the biggest character development since John's death.  He was always a bit of a screw up, made bad decisions, never settled down, works for the family business, has no home, etc, etc.   Now Brady is taking time to evaluate decisions and thinking what John would do instead of making stupid choices because he wants to live up to his dad's legacy.  I like that for him, even though I will always think Paul is the obvious John successor.

I hope it turns out that Aaron is the father, and that Melinda didn't alter the test somehow.

Altering a DNA test is too overdone 😂

Those episodes were the reason why I wondered if maybe Aaron wasn't the father, but now I'm not so sure lol

Yes, Jamey’s crap is airing into 2026. We all know it. You don’t know which episodes he writes the breakdowns for but you try to guess. It’s annoying when you the ‘we all know who wrote it’. The headwriters, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford sign off on EVERY outline. Every single outline and script.

Welcome back, Jeremy! It's been a long time.

It was nice seeing him reunite with Julie, and getting to meet Chad for the first time. I'm not too sure about him getting a job as Thomas' elementary school teacher though. That just seems so random to me, and also doesn't seem like it could have anything to do with any storylines. I wonder if there's going to be something more to that and that we're just not being told right now. And that they're not actually setting Jeremy up to be the villain though. Too soon to make any judgments about his acting, but I see that they're dressing him like his cousin Shawn Douglas 😂😂

And while I feel they're kind of missing the mark a little with whatever EJ is doing at the hospital, I'm liking how many characters are being weaved into it. Hopefully, more characters are brought into it and it has a huge ripple effect across the canvas that plays out for a long time.

Both cliffhangers were also pretty good too. I'm interested in seeing what's going to happen on Monday both with Chad/Thomas and Stephanie/Jeremy.
