Wow, the scenes with Chase & Michael were 🔥🔥🔥 Rory Gibson is a really good actor and I'm glad he's getting to show just how good he is.

The scenes with Dante and Michael on Monday were excellent - going back over the Claudia saga, his prison time, and Michael lashing out at him over Dante's involvement in that mess. It was good they again made a point to define how the recast has changed, and it can be played with in many ways; him struggling with PTSD, Willow gaslighting him, using A.J. again, etc. (Honestly, a single round of hatesex between him and psycho Willow would probably be hot now too.)

But it's still not enough until they start hiring and investing in new major female leads for what is obviously a strong new leading man. Not just elevating cheap dayplayers who might eventually get a very meager contract. That's the problem with this show, but we've all been over this already this week so I'm repeating myself. It's just frustrating. Rory was amazing when he finally exploded at DZ about Daisy, and seething throughout before then.

What continues to impress me about Rory is he’s playing and talking about so much character history and interactions he never played because it was Chad, but you believe it was all him. He just sells it so well. I’d love to see him tackle some AJ material as it relates to his feelings now about his father and how he was taken from him.

This show writes plot, not character.

Take Brennen. Why would he recruit the daughter of the woman he loves for his agency? You'd think he'd try to recruit Anna's granddaughter for it, a woman he hates. Stuff like that makes the character plain stupid and nothing but a plot point.

I'll give the writers credit, there's less of the stupid in their set-ups than there was a couple of years ago. But the stupid is still there.

There's so much they could do with him. He's not quite as Prince Charming as Stuart Damon was but there's a physical resemblance and it makes me think of how much he could be a force for the Quartermaines in years to come, if he and the show are still there. As has been said many times already they're wasting the moment not giving him a proper love interest and a foothold of his own (maybe one of those 500 businesses on Y&R could move to Port Charles), but at least he isn't as minimized as Chad's Michael often was.

This would be even dumber if we could believe he actually loves Carly.

Joss becoming a WSB agent is silly in general, but I have no idea when Carly/Brennan fell in love.  Not on screen lol.  The plot lost me a while ago, but I was genuinely shocked when Carly/Brennan were acting like this was such a serious relationship.   In the last, what, year they've been together none of these major emotions have been played.  The show has spent more time developing Michael and the hooker lol.  I can't believe anyone in the audience views this as more than a pit stop for Carly until the show figures out what to do with her.  I personally could care less if they break up lol.

I actually bought that they were falling in love when Charles Mesure was playing the role, but that totally went out the window when they recast with Chris McKenna. He and Laura Wright generate all the chemistry of two strangers forced to sit together on a bus.

However, after the scenes with Carly, her terrible wig, and Valentin this week, I'm actually looking forward to seeing this story play out. I'm so sick of watching McKenna's Brennan, I hope Carly absolutely destroys him, and I'm going to relish every minute of it.

I think there was a better base with Mesure due to chemistry and the role suiting the actor more.  I still don't feel like they did much with the pairing even then.

I suppose I am slightly interested in where the story is heading since it seems to have movement now, but I can't say I care about Brennen/Carly still.  And I would rather they move on from Joss being a WSB agent entirely.  It's just silly.

Just because he was falling in love with Carly doesn’t mean he lost his nature. He is an opportunist, needed a young woman that had a reasonable, natural cover for an assignment. And she was looking for revenge, and compromised herself, making her an even easier target. She’s a tool for him to use. He code switches when he is with Carly. I think the writers are not thinking this deeply, but to me the person with Carly is the mask, and the Brennan that recruits Joss, forcibly recruits Jason, and is the man Anna and Valentin warn against is the real guy.

IKR. Like I've been saying, Y&R's loss was definitely GH's gain.

IKR! I said that from the start of that plot last seen on ALIAS.

As did I. My Beast was fascinated with Carly in the same way he was intrigued by Anna when Brennan was played by him. Even if Brennan even then felt like a placeholder for Carly...which admittedly he did...I felt the pairing went against that due to chemistry and dare I say it...some development and movement. Something that went missing when Chris McKenna took over. Cuz up until recently, I believe that Carly/Brennan only had scenes one/twice a month the last few months...feeling more plotpoint-y than any relationship at all.

They're not.

They have also begun hinting around again about the very real fact that Brennan was co-head of Pikeman with Valentin, something they ignored and tried to sweep under the rug very quickly after Mulcahey revealed it and was then dismissed/quit. IIRC Brennan merely covered his tracks while selling out Valentin, but once that happened the show for quite some time tried to pretend Brennan's cover story (that he was undercover to take down Pikeman) was actually legit. They needed to make it go away while they were desperate to give Carly some man, any man after the latest attempt at Jarly fizzled.

Anyway, this story and the fact that they've reopened that can of worms is proof he's dogmeat not long for this world. I always said he would not last the year and I stand by that, give or take a few months. I just pray next we don't have Valentin and Carly teaming up and slowly growing romantic as they 'try to find out who killed Jack.' I don't want to be here in a year grimacing as JPS and LW move in for an almost-kiss at the Metro Court as part of this show's typically agonizingly long slow burn for another bad couple.

And the circle back around, there was an attempt to get a generation next going on. I just don't feel it was a barely there plot between the teens so much as it started and eventually vanished. I just wish that it had been allowed to continue.

And don't get me started on what has become of Laura and Liz's family. I'm still P.O. at how the return of Laura's kids was ruined on top of how all of Liz's kids have upped and vanished. I would think someone *cough*Frank*cough was mad that the audience loved seeing JJ's Lucky back, Lulu as a successful recast, GF being given something to do as Laura, and Liz's kids full of storyline potential (Aidan and Tobias, Jake finally getting to interact with his father Jason who was wanting to be more of a father...and dare I say...the thing with Charlotte) over any of the plot-driven direction and Frank's Favs going on on the canvas. Can't have that!

That said...writing that and thinking about the fact that the young set outside of Joss...don't even have a storyline is making me think of Josh Griffith on Y&R and how he would parade out young characters for potential storylines and then they would vanish like a new character introduced over on B&B. Hopefully, GH does not get to how JG is and becoming allergic to writing for young characters.

I am curious as to how many Ava fans were Carly fans. I loved Carly's first few years on ATWT and I can see some of Maura's grit still, but it's so tough for me to have a response to Ava.

Hmmm. For me, I saw her a few times as Carly when I was younger. She gave good schemer bad girl when I saw her. But it wasn't until one day I came across her meeting Michael Park's Jack that I became spellbound. Yep...I'm a Carjacker. hehe. And even though I was not a frequent ATWT fan, I still tried to keep up with that pairing. They were great and she was excellent. I didn't even mind her on Y&R even though she was miscast. And it was love at first sight when she arrived as Ava. The femme fatale that played it to the hilt. So I was happy that PM went there and brought that side of her back. The side that as has been mentioned and I also mention...I would have kept around. Good writers can use that and find ways for her to wiggle out of her crimes, but these writers ain't PM so...I'll hush.

Awww it couldn't have happened to a better person. AKA me on Sidwell's side to outmaneuver Drew. About time someone did.

I'll bet it keeps Frank up at nights trying to figure out 1) a suitable romantic partner for LW and 2) an equally suitable romantic partner for EM.
