As most of have said numerous times, it was very dumb to kill AJ off.  SK's return was basically universally praised.  I know RC had issue with the character and Kanan, but there was no need to brutally murder him by Sonny no less.  If RC/FV wanted to get rid of Sean so badly they could have recast, had him fall off the wagon, or leave town when he was getting heat for Konnie's murder.  At least keep an AJ return in your back pocket.

It's telling people still mention this mistake 10-12 years later and still have strong feelings, while Britt/Nathan have been discussed a handful of times since they left lol.

I suppose I could see some who'd want Britt to return, but Nathan's story was so tied to Maxie and he already had a perfectly clear and fine exit storyline.

There will always be a hole on the canvas without AJ there because of the horrible treatment of the character, but I think it stands out more when there's a strong presence in the role of Michael. There is not much left to tell in his relationship with Sonny or Carly, so you just think of what we are missing. And the Quartermaines being in a decent place at the moment only makes the loss more glaring.

This would ABSOLUTELY be an era where the character of AJ is not only needed but would shine. Conflict with both of his brothers and in particular Drew for his treatment of Michael. Being a grandfather to Michael’s kids. Mourning Monica’s loss, I could even see him being close with Tracy now too like Jason. Literally it all writes itself.

You're right. He'd have a big feud with Drew which Jason and Michael can't quite fill (Michael due to the age difference and Jason because he's a bit too inert).

Not getting to see his grandkids also makes me sad to think about.

It's as simple as Michael unveiling A.J. (having known he's alive for some time, if not years) as his secret weapon to help take on Drew. That could open up the wounds re: Sonny/Carly, which Michael may start nursing more, and also allow Jason to finally grapple with that stuff, A.J.'s 'murder' and reckon with his new place in the Quartermaines more on top of having his brother back and having to repair that relationship. You even have Tracy and Ned having to reevaluate things with A.J., and of course Carly is in the mix. It all works.

That's good.

I could even seeing Monica nursing him back to health again. And with her passing, and him not knowing, finally coming out of hiding after all of this time. Of course, I would give it a build as he comes into town to see what is going on since he had not seen or even heard from Monica in a while.

I didn’t even realize when I mentioned the grandkids, omg he never got to meet them because Sonny killed his ass and Michael gave up on caring about it. Now I just got upset again.

Again it all writes itself. Would you be willing to accept another recast or Billy Warlock even  to get AJ back on canvas? I don’t think Sean’s leaving B&B to go back to the show that made fat jokes about him with that same producer in charge.

I think daytime has had worse exits/feuds and comebacks than the 2013-14 drama, and at least Ron is gone lol. Frank has also made nice with bigger burnt bridges in his past than Kanan before. I would def try to get him back. I'd recast again if I absolutely had to. Billy is great but I wouldn't go back there.

Only reason I could be okay with Billy if you don’t get Sean, is still some old school flashbacks. He’s the AJ Sonny hung on the meathook right? Imagine AJ telling the grandkids and getting that flashback. I know they wouldn’t but it’s a nice thought

Yeah, a missed opportunity.

I wouldn't go back to Warlock either.  Aside from the fact Billy seems happily retired, he looks too old to be AJ from recent pics.  I think he's very talented and he looks great for 64, but the 6- or 7-year gap in age between him and Kanan is more noticeable than it used to be.  If you can't get SK, I would recast again with someone closer in age to Kanan or Burton.

I wonder if the show ever considered CM as an AJ recast instead of Drew.   Not that I am advocating that idea, I am just curious.

I am more of the mind of getting rid of Valentin completely lol

If he were an option I would much rather have him playing David Hayward. The hospital could use him, and I loved him with Anna.

I only asked because there was talk of him being cast as Valentin in 2013.

It would have been an improvement probably?  Idk, JPS is a big part of the issue.  I don't know if anyone could make the writing for the character work though.

It was just a thought.  I don't think CM is particularly a good fit for AJ or anything.  You could tweak just a few things about Drew's return and make it AJ's.  Not that it was a good story anyway though lol.

Well, when the original concept was essentially scrapped, there was zero reason for the role to be introduced. If anything, Nick Stabile should have stayed as Nikolas, as I fully believe Valentin was brought on to replace Nik as the Cassadine representation.
