Does Connie actually watch the show? She thinks psycho Alison and Chelsea's wedding is real.

It's a pretty bland, benign article but that leapt out at me.

You can also tell her age when she calls Maya a 'transsexual'. Oops.

That was a wtf.  Two paragraphs about the stalker-created "wedding", but the columnist thought it was real. And they refer to Chelsea and Allison are the show’s two female gay characters.  Clearly not watching because they didn't know that Madison exists.

They refer to Ms. Duplaix as a newcomer to the soap world.

A reference to the Vanessa character as "the very sweet Vanessa McBride".

Yeah they're writing about something they don't watch.

Odd take on the show.

She mentions Nixon/Marland revamping Loving after 6 months. The thing is that revamp did nothing to improve the show or the ratings and set the stage for constant reboots over the life of the show.

Sure BTG needs a few tweaks but recasting/cast culls and change of direction is not needed.

Oh, I'd fire and/or recast several people lol. There's a bunch of changes I think should be made in front of the camera and at the script level. It's just that Connie's view of the show is partly pretty boilerplate and the rest is not based in viewable reality.

She’s already deleted my comment on FB once. She does this often. Then she edits to column to try to correct it but fails. She’s out of touch and no longer relevant.

I'm really disappointed. The "Marlena" that I read in SPW was always critical in an intelligent way and this completely missed the mark. She is getting older and has had serious financial troubles lately (I believe related to her and her husband falling for a scam). Perhaps, sadly, she is not as sharp as she once was, and that is the reason for the bum article, or, she hired a ghostwriter that doesn't have a clue. Either way, this is terribly sad.

I read the article earlier today and was really turned off by a few things that made me question if she’s even watching the show. She mistakenly refers to Vernon as a congressman. She chooses to point out Daphnee Duplaix’s Playboy appearance, but fails to mention her work on Passions or One Life to Live. And she implies that Daphnee is a newcomer. She later it edited it out, but an earlier version of the article today described Vanessa as “very sweet.” I love Vanessa and think Lauren Buglioli is outstanding, but I would not describe Vanessa as “very sweet” at all. And the comments about Chelsea and Allison, frankly, are disturbing. Did she not realize that Chelsea was forced into the wedding? For pity's sake, she was kidnapped; she wasn't engaging in bondage.

Marlena Delacrock is more like it. I can’t believe she’s still writing these blogs as if anyone cares. SPW was a long time ago, and a lot of her blogs (at least a decade or more ago) were littered with poor research and often bizarre takes on what’s really happening. I can’t say I’ve read anything she’s written about soaps in years though, until this, and yikes…

I did enjoy the Capitol rundown on the site earlier this year, but I haven't read most of their other pieces lately.

I didn't know Daphnee was in Playboy. She's never come across as someone who got hired based on skin, which is fairly rare on daytime in modern times. I was impressed with her work from the first time I saw her on OLTL.

It pre-dated Passions, IIRC. I had skepticism about her more based on the PSSNS background (Kelly Monaco and IIRC Karen Witter had done Playboy, along with I'm sure many others and they were both strong back in the day) but she impressed me from Day 1 on OLTL. That clearly translated to Hillary B. Smith, who still talks her up as the only good Rachel recast. I still weep for what might have been there, but Daphnee is in a great place as one of the central heroines of this show.
