Sasha got interesting right before she left and obviously Willow is like a brand new character.  Rory has revitalized Michael.   So basically while the show still has it serious flaws, it's done great work with formerly snoozy characters like Sasha, Michael, Willow, and Drew.

IKR. Though to be fair, Drew's interesting-ness started under PM with the hate sex.

I also wish we got to see more Sarah's Carly and Brenda spar.  I get why the narrative now is Carly/Brenda were long term rivals, but they honestly barely knew one another lol.

Same. You and @DRW50 now have me curious because I only have seen the one scene where SJB Carly and Brenda spar. But they did it more than once? Scenes please. :)

Nina is a very disposable character.   I am not sure why she lingers around.  At least put her back with Sonny so I don't have to watch DA Lady.

Chase is a non-entity to me.  If you ask me to describe him I would say nice and handsome.  That's it lol.  There is just nothing interesting about him or even him and Brook Lynn.

Curtis/Jordan/Portia always replay the same story and triangle.  With Portia being the bad guy.  It's tired.

I still find the show highly watchable, but as @Vee said it's difficult to ignore the problems especially when you know it's Frank's vision only basically and nothing will change.

On the current canvas, Sonny is Nina's only option. Unless the writers go off in a new direction...which for all the good they have done in the last few months...I just don't feel they are capable. I would say finally drive her mad, but like the Ava murder mystery that landed on Drew...that boat has sailed.

Nice bubble. lol. But it appears that Willow might become the spoiler between Chase and BLQ who have already started to slowly show cracks.

Really as juicy as the forthcoming story beats (still catching up) are, it is more of the same with them. And honestly...now that I'm so used to BTG...it is disappointing even if the acting is good.

Yep. Pretty much. But like I said yesterday, I'm still mad at how Frank willingly fumbled the Lucky return because he was not the favorite.

I'm not too sure on that. I have wondered in my binges if the fact the show has improved could be a case of new blood making it all more bearable. And GH has hired a good amount of newbies BTS over the last few months.

There's one scene at Sonny/Jason's penthouse, a scene at Wyndam's? where Carly asks Brenda if she's shopping for a new straitjacket and there are scenes from the Dock's Gala shooting.  All are from 1998 and were on youtube under a Brenda/Jax 1998 playlist.

But that's off topic lol.

Well, I'm replying with a post on topic so ;)

I think the only scene I've ever seen and remember is the Wyndam scene, but I could be wrong. That said thank you for the tip. ;)

Back on topic...I still try to wrap my head over how Ava/Ric were easily taken apart though the reason for some of it (Ric's love for Liz) made sense as a great spoiler for their growing relationship. I almost wish someone would call Liz out now that Lucky is out of the picture as a reason for her not going there.

This is very true.

My wish is Willow gets to flame out, and in turn afterwards Nina does too while seeking revenge for what PC has done to both of her kidnapped babies. Watros hasn’t gotten to play unhinged maniac since Guiding Light and she is very capable. I mean Mulcahey gave her so much potential that just wasn’t there before for me. I actually watched her scenes.

On the off topic convo, I used to imagine Sarah’s Carly in the Tam stories. I think she would have absolutely done well in each story, except not as the hybrid damsel in distress/impulsive train wreck that TB’s Carly morphed into. Even something like the Panic Room would have been more psychological with SJB there. And I can see her having chemistry with Ted’s Alcazar. And that first Brenda returns story would have been even more intense!

It’s dumb as hell but I do applaud them not just ignoring how mainstream and popular romance as a genre has become again. At least it’s something stupid that there is an audience for, even if I am not it. But I would take this over Valentin weeping over Anna, or Drew and Carly walking on the beach any day.

it's weird to be reminded that Drew is an actual member of Congress. A member of the House being shot would be national news ( like it was for Gabby Giffords and Steve Scalise). Trump would post about it and it there would be a lot of discourse about various political issues without knowing that the shooting was just a simple case of a war hero who used to think he was a mob hitmen turning into JR Ewing.

Well Brenda is always on topic for me, but I assume others disagree 😂

Most of the Carly/Brenda scenes are Brenda trashing Jason and defending Robin.  Brenda doesn't actually care about Carly in general.  It makes sense for current day Carly to feel inferior to Brenda in her own head because Brenda did think she was just trash.  Very different from how people treat Queen Carly now.  Brenda (and Robin) are characters that break the facade that Carly's evolved.  She just married up.  I am disappointed Lois wasn't side eyeing Carly more.

The one thing I can't imagine is SJB's Carly getting shot in the head by Sonny and forgiving him.

I could see Drew getting shot for being an absolute bastard from a mile away. He was clearly being hiped up to get shot or killed.

I hope Drew survives this because we need the drama.

GH always between an all involved villain (Shiloh, Cyrus, Nelle, Victor Cassedine) now it's Drew and Sidwell's turn.

I like Drew’s brand of villainy because he’s not some crazy Cassadine type super villain or yet another mob boss. He’s just an as.shole who feels justified in stealing his nephew’s wife and gets off on being a prick.

I have really been enjoying GH for the past several months.  I wasn't sure how I would like BTG, but they have also made afternoons enjoyable.  I wish I could say the same for Y&R and B&B, but i literally can't watch them anymore.  I do confess to reading the day ahead spoilers of Y&R so that if I ever return, at least I know what's NOT been happening.

I basically agree with you, but I try to focus mostly on what I enjoy rather than what could be improved. Given the state of soaps in 2025, I'm not optimistic that "new blood" on either the writing or producing side would actually improve the show. In fact, I can think of many ways they could make it much worse.

I'm happy to roll the dice.

I enjoy watching a lot of the show these days. It's improved a lot vs. where it was two years ago, or a lot of last year lol. I also find other stuff that is so boring or stupid it'll make me tune out for days or weeks, and there are key systemic issues. But I'd still take the chance on new blood. It's just past time.

And yes, the fact that the Quartermaines are now the central family hub of the show again and populate the majority of the canvas in 2025 is nothing short of a miracle.

I will check these out, since I only remember the one as well.
