@Paul Raven posted:  Leslie's original plan-running Laura off the road and Eva taking her pace, doesn't really make much sense. What was the purpose of having Eva work for Nicole?

I thought Leslie's plot was to have Eva spy on Nicole and Ted and get inroads into their lives -- and in fact, Leslie got Eva to suggest to them that they have a big anniversary party  -- something they hadn't even thought of doing until Eva suggested it.   Leslie wanted a big party with everyone there, to reveal the Ted/Leslie affair publicly.

I think I posted back then that this was the first time I'd seen a new twist on the old soap trope of a big reveal at a major event -- the twist this time was the revealer's coconspirator engineering the event to exist.

And of course the other reason the show started off with that ... was to establish that Leslie is a sociopath.

Peaches told them. In their first scene she told Leslie that "they told me ho you keep ignoring their phone calls and letters". Presumably she told the lawyer about Leslie and shared her contact info and after hearing that they couldnt locate her, Peaches came to DC personally to tell Leslie what that was all about

Right, I heard that part as well but it still didn't make sense to me, because Peaches seemed to have cut all contact with Barbara and moved away. Barbara has also been dead for a long time and it seems like this trust was setup early on. Why would Peaches be aware of this trust and how has other members of Barbara's family not gone through these funds already.

Okay.  I agree that Peaches told the inheritance attorneys about Leslie.  But how did Peaches know about the inheritance to begin with -- how did she know that the inheritance attorneys existed?

Peaches wanted to tell Leslie she was dying.  She sent out an investigator to find where Leslie is living now.  Did the investigator somehow learn about the blind trust?

I guess we’ll learn more but if Barbara actually has other living relatives, Peaches would have known from them. Let’s say Barbera had a sister that wad collecting the money. If said sister died with no kids, there’s no more kin to inherit until Peaches tells Leslie the truth

I agree.
Okay I'll throw out some speculations ...

Peaches, now that she's dying, has wanted to find Leslie and tell her the truth, but couldn't find her.  So then maybe Peaches tried several strategies?

Maybe Peaches' first step was that she recently contacted Barbara's family and told *them* that Leslie was their relative, just in case she couldn't find Leslie before she died, maybe they could find her?  Okay that doesn't really make sense, but I'm just thinking aloud.
At any rate, I think Barbara's family would have had no knowledge of Leslie's existence until Peaches recently told them --  *if* she told them.

Also Peaches hired the investigator to find Leslie, so maybe the investigator filled in the missing pieces, and that gave Peaches the opportunity to tell Barbara's family about Leslie's existence, and then the family told Peaches about the money?

Oh heck, I don't know!!!  I don't think any of my speculations fit.

For your other question:  Wouldn't members of Barbara's family have already used up the blind trust that Anita set up so many years ago?  Yes probably unless there were investments and interest on part of it, but still, likely used up by now.  However Anita said that she just donated her personal share of the proceeds of the Articulettes reunion concert into the blind trust, so clearly the fund still exists.

Still, lots of unanswered questions!

I think these are all good questions and makes me want to tune in to see if answers come. Heck, at this point RC is still there so they have a lawyer in the house.

I didn't know Carlivati had a law degree until you posted that.  Found an old link --  (Link) -- but I don't think he's active anymore?

Cheryl L. Davis is still a practicing attorney, so I'm more curious how she wrote or will write this inheritance storyline

Well it definitely ended on a good note Friday that has us discussing and choosing our fighters. 😜

Oh, yes. All the ways back to his OLTL days. Sometimes it came in handy. Sometimes not. But I'm sure the knowledge is still there if needed. Like me with history knowledge.

Ooo really? Then yes, she would be up to date on law as well and it might play into the writing as well.

And I don't think we're going to get answers. I think we're supposed to hand wave it all away and just accept "Now Leslie is rich."

I'm more curious to see if it's going to be Anita vs SilkPress until November Sweeps when the Laura angle of the SilkPress storyline comes back up and she finally gets her comeuppance and winds up losing all that money.

Silk Press Sheila could stay on the soap for a few years before her crimes are exposed.  It has been done before, so if the writers were smart.. they would keep SPS as somewhat over the top with human moments mixed in.

In fact, Sheila Carter lived/existed on B & B from 1992 to 1995 without her crimes from Y & R being found out.  There were periods in that 3 year period where she was almost exposed, but something would interfere with her being found out.   The only reason she was finally exposed was that there was a breakdown in contract talks so she was exposed and carted off to a mental hospital.. then returned months later for another few years.

However, I don't know if BTG can keep SPS on for three years with the way they're burning through story.  It would help if the show focused on her life outside the Dupree bubble a bit more.

I would assume Leslie will eventually insulate herself from too much fallout from her crimes with that money. It is a typical soap staple and tried and true.

I hope not as that would feel anticlimactic to be honest. Laura is a nothing character and besides she lived. That entire investigation was botched and Id rather the show just move forward instead of going back to it

If need be,  I want her to learn about what happened to Kenny which puts her at a standstill with the rest. If she goes down then so does half the cast. Id see her threaten to burn it all down to hell if they tried her

It's television so a lot of story lines are never 100% written to the letter of the law. With that said my genealogy experience has taught me that birth indexes usually list the mother's name because the hospital issues that information to the state at the time of birth. An attorney or law firm could get that information easily.

Going by online and here, I think it is the minority that would find the truth about Laura's accident coming out anticlimactic. And until it's dealt with to some conclusion, it seems a thing that will be continued to be harped on a la SilkPress is getting away with it. Even if it comes up soon as a way to tie up that plot thread (Due to Kat's interference, it gets thrown out), I think the audience would let it drop. However it popping back up after SilkPress got all that she wants, it would be old school soap villainess comeuppance.

That said...I would love for her to take a page from Sami Brady's old handbook and have the ace up her sleeve of finding out about Kenny (if June doesn't first) so she can reverse uno on half the cast. I would be in awe and it would restore the cunning SilkPress had in that first couple of months before she turned into a cartoon. I definitely love the idea of her finding out. We finally have her at a pivot so them writers better run with it if they want to keep the character (and the awesome actress) around.

I was one of the ones who cried foul when they tried to humanize her immediately after the Eva reveal. But that part of the story should have been Nicole's POV more than SilkPress's. Right now, the only way she can stay around IS if they start to humanize her somewhat. She's been running around a little too long as of late like some cartoon character in spite of TMG's great acting.

Right up to the reveal, TMG seem to find any and all moments to humanize her character. Even with the reveal, she still found that throughline in her performance. So it's sad that it seems the character is overwhelming the nuances she was able to find so well earlier. More of that please.
