  • So, Derek is going to try and run a triathlon tomorrow? Homeboy is going to end up in the ICU with an injury. I am calling it now.
  • Not only is Shanice messy as a mess, but she is also unprofessional as frick. She should be relieved of her duties for her disgusting conduct.
  • Not Vernon trying to sneak out like a teenager who slept over at their girlfriend's house without their parents knowing. But, with messy Deadbeat's mug... he has been caught.
  • Well, "Sammy" and Bill have come face-to-face, and I am sure that Bill would love to know how he knows his wife or became involved in that way.
  • Vernon has a meeting? With a certain Winters?
  • Good on Andre for being honest with Dani and making it known he wants to pursue things with Ashley on a serious level. Now go get your woman!!!
  • Oatmeal Raisin? No. It is chocolate chip or no cookies at all! Take 'em back, Jan.
  • Good on Dani for taking responsibility, but at this, she did not cause a miscarriage; it either happened before, or it never happened because the child bride was never pregnant.
  • Oh, some history between Bill and Dani, and a bit of Bill's backstory concerning his father. Hmmm... could this be leading to something else down the line? I would not hate it. That's right, child bride, look at the true, genuine connection your husband has with his [ex-]wife.
  • I love all that Anita has done in Barbara's name; it shows how much Barbara truly does mean to her and to the history of the Articulettes.
  • So, Anita performed at Neil's club Indigo? And they knew Neil? Oh, I love that.
  • COME ON ASHLEY! DO NOT DO THIS! STOP AND THINK! YOU AND ANDRE BELONG TOGETHER!
  • Winters Mood? Oh, so Devon wants Anita to record a jazz album. I love it. And Anita has a family archivist? That's interesting. But what a sweet idea to honour Barbara.

Notes:

  • After two days of shorter scenes... we are getting to have more scenes both before and after the opening, and that makes me very happy.
  • Gosh... the "barefaced" look on Tamara Tunie is stunning. She is glowing brighter than the brightest sun! Sometimes less is more!
  • Timon Kyle Durrett (Bill) showed some beautiful range today in his scenes opposite Karla Mosley (Dani); not to mention, they both have sparkling chemistry that is undeniable.
  • You can tell this was a passion crossover for Michele Val Jean; talking so highly about Neil and missing him, it is a clear nod to the loss of Kristoff St. John. I love that. Beautiful pieces of the dialogue.
  • And just like that, Bryon James (Devon) fits in so well on this canvas, and his chemistry with the cast (as well as Mosley) is bubbling.

Ron C is known for his shorter scenes so I'm not surprised that with a different breakdown writer helming this episode that the scenes are a bit longer.

Perhaps one day Devon could join the soap... test him with some of the Dupreee women and see where he pops best.

Agree with these three points

Anita to Devon: how is your family?
Devon: My family is doing great!   (My grandmother Katherine thought of Chance as her grandson --  and Chance was also my son's other father -- and Chance was just murdered  last week, but oh yeah my family is doing great!)

What are you talking about?  Shanice did nothing unprofessional at all.  I thought she was great today.

Agreed. Shanice is nosey but she's not really messy. She's probably the most professional person on the show after Nicole. Nothing she's done warrants her losing her job

It makes sense, since she's an EGOT winner apparently (have we heard anything about her movie work really?) so someone would want to keep track of her papers etc.

Not an exciting episode but a relatively well written one I thought with, yeah scenes that took a slightly longer time to breathe.  Why at this point ANYONE would stay interested in Ashley is beyond me.  Her freakout on Andre was as WTF as hers on Derek at the restaurant the other week.

Having an Oscar does not necessarily mean she has acted; it could be her music was used in a film, etc. I am sure, at some point, her history will be explored more at some point after her time with the Articulettes.

Karla Mosley's scenes were great today.  Dani was more introspective and honest.

I thought they came across really well. I think it made the Dani character seem more grounded. I cackled when Dani told Andre that it was fine that he wanted to pursue Ashley and then turned around and said she was lying. 😆

The thing is that the show had an out for keeping the Laura element on the back burner because Jacob had mentioned that they couldn't identify the motorcycle nor the driver and video wasn't working/missing.

At the time, I assumed that the writers were keeping that in the background while other elements in the plot were playing out (i.e. Kat/Tomas/Eva, Eva/Ted building a father and daughter relationship, Eva and Nicole trying to navigate the awkwardness, Silk Press Sheila and Nicole building up their feud, etc).   Playing up the Laura element and then dropping it was not a good plan because it made almost all the players look stupid.

I agree. They had so many wiggle room options. Which is why when Jacob mentioned that the test would take time...I figured it would go on the backburner. Or when Eva stole everything...something else that could put the story on the backburner as well. But they went ahead and keep trying to push things so now I have to sit here and side-eye them on it.

I thought the same as well on that. I liked that the writers seem like they were exploring the aftermath of the anniversary party nicely AND slowly because all of what you mentioned needed to be explored. I could understand how...with that in mind...the part of the plot with Laura would need to be on the backburner. How they went about some things though (like Nicole's POV and that Eva/Nicole awkwardness) is where I also find myself side-eying a bit. Especially now that there's been no movement and it just seem like...outside of Kat and Nicole...everyone has been very bygones be bygones with two people who actually came in and messed with a marriage and people's lives.

I was expecting a Derek/Andre confrontation today but there wasn't.

When Ashley saw Andre/Dani, I'm like "oh snap, some s--- is about to go down".

Are we going to get Andre/Dani breakup next week?

Nah...I like how Derek has been playing it. He had Andre's number for a while and still is acting the better man about it while still checking Andre.

The way I gasped when that played out. I even rewinded. lol. I guess I'm more invested in the triangle than I thought.

Honestly, I would say yes. I just feel like the writers with this next twist in Hayley's storyline that they are setting Dani up for a big fall which means no man. She has to save herself. But that's just me.

Timon was on RHOA back in Season 7! He looks so young here. He played the best man Eric in Kenya's Life Twirls On pilot. see what Dan saw in him bc he was FINE!

Woooooooow Just shows that Kenya stays having taste. :)

Some of the dialogue today was giving Iyanla, Fix My Life and I wasn't here for it.

Also, why would Derek go all out at the gym the day before a triathlon. Sure, you want to do some exercise the day before to keep your muscles active and engaged, but it is usually some sort of light physical activity or exercise. Not going all out on a kettlebell routine. I wonder if they are playing into Derek getting hurt, because Jacob questioned Derek not having a coach to prepare.
