That’s right because I recall watching an episode recently and that kitchen wasn’t renovated so I guess it is new.

so where is Nick living? He and Sharon aren’t official yet, I doubt he lives with her. Victoria and Cole are in the tack house with Victor and Nikki up at the main house so where does that leave Nick?

If I recall, they moved a wall that cut the living room from the kitchen off, and it is now more open. Either way, or the wall by the staircase, because you could always see that smell kitchen.

IIRC, he's still living in the house he had during Mal Young's regime that got quickly nixed.

The restaurant and coffee shop hopping is what bothers me, too. I absolutely hate it.

Yes, the new sets are great. The Newman ranch, the Abbott mansion, Billy's house -- they're all classy and great. I appreciated The Crimson Lights update a few years ago, and the remodel of Sharon's tack house where Victoria lives is nicely done.

However, because of limitations on what's permanently standing and what needs to be assembled when used, the sets problem is still a mess.

We get Jack's office and that hallway into his office for a couple days, and that's it. That means any Jabot business talk is conducted at a bar, restaurant or coffee shop. It's nuts that Devon's office is no longer used. Lily? She sits down at either Society or the GCAC every damn day.

Billy's starting this new, dynamic company -- no office. Phyllis? No home, no work space. She runs from restaurant to coffee shop.

And no, throwing in that Chancellor Park set as a meeting place for EVERYONE who goes to the park isn't enough. When you have SO many characters discussing business (also a huge problem) it's a huge error to have only one business locale up at a time.

Comparing Y&R to DAYS does not work. We all know DAYS has no budget. We know that Y&R has been #1 for DECADES and SHOULD have a budget. We deserve better.

Is the GH budget that much bigger than Y&R's? Because they manage an enormous cast and a buttload of sets just fine. GH doesn't look like a show that's penny-pinching.

And then when Y&R spends money on a new set, it becomes a storyline, which is a joke. We hear about it for weeks on end. When has this ever happened on a soap? When should this ever happen?

Compounding all this sets mess? The writing on Y&R is ABYSMAL. It has never been worse. I have never been so bored with this show in my entire life. B&B is trash, but Y&R is worse -- it's boring trash.

The only time Phyllis had a home in recent years was when she lived at the cottage house (Victoria's now home), the Abbott mansion, Nick's now-gone home, or the two temporary apartments she had. Otherwise, she's houseless.

For sure. They could've done a similar set-up - with Devon cheating. I'm assuming they had enough notice that MM could be leaving to have Devon mess up enough to get Hilary to leave.

I do think MM has done a solid job with Amanda - as I said before: When Amanda rips someone a new one it comes across as fact, not filth, leaving the receiver with no comeback (see Abby and Sally as recently examples). That's something unique to Amanda and MM's delivery is flawless. I want more of that! Frankly, I just want MM on a regular basis.

There was the apartment she moved into post-divorcing Nick (Michelle Stafford era) where she had Daisy living with her, and she killed Tim Reid.

And then, when Gina Tognoni was [rightfully] in the role, she had Billy shared that one apartment.

So Sharon decides not to go to France and stay behind to support Mariah, but now with Phyllis gloating about getting an invite I’m sure she’ll change her mind.

Mariah’s secret is that she screwed that old man? I’m so confused about what’s going on here, and Mariah coming out and telling Tessa that she can’t know her secret is supposed to do what exactly? Is that supposed to put Tessa’s mind at ease? Lol….

I’m getting Cameron Kirsten vibes though. Did he do something to her without her consent and things went too far? These writers really can’t come up with something original if their life depended on it

I remember another Phyllis residence -- I don't think that was a set shown abovethread, but I'm not sure.

Trying to remember some things off the top of my head but I might be wrong about part of it:
I'm referring to the condo where Phick first had sex after the Michael/Lauren wedding.  I think they specifically referred to it as a condo?  After Stafford's Phyllis went into a coma, Jack sold it and I think he gave money to HunterKing's Summer when she married Austin? Or he gave Summer the condo?    There was a convoluted side plot about someone needing money and something from this was drawn in a shady way.  Something about it being sold?  And then when GinaT's Phyllis awoke from her coma, she had no condo to come back to.

On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)

Some sets we don't see anymore

Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years)

Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?)

Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident)

Penthouse (Lily's home)

Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby)

Chancellor office (once Dark Horse)

Nick's house

GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters)

Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again.

Have I missed anything?

    • Thank you. I know we're all supposed to see that BTG is progressive when it comes to queer characters, but it's telling that they won't commit to showcasing gay or bi males who are single and looking. That relationship couldn't be any more traditional. Will we ever get a bedroom scene with Smitty and Martin? I have my doubts.
    • This is a pretty huge thing IMO, but I guess we will see what happens? Can't get any worse then already.
    • This can be difficult for a soap to depict. So far she's only shown an interest in women. Will a man come into her life? If she commits to a male, there will be  backlash, but if it's women only, them where is the bi/queer aspect? Personally, I would have liked a single gay male on the show dealing with hook ups/relationships etc. Smitty/Martin married with kids is limiting in those terms.
    • Of course, how could I have forgotten those thrilling episodes depicting the fire? Also we had the GCAC rooftop set that came out every Summer. Moving on to Friday's episode. Victor is propped in his chair, answers his cell and tells the caller 'Let him in'. Seconds later Kyle enters. So does Victor have security on the front porch? It would have been better had Victor taken the call, and then said to himself 'Well Kyle, let's see what you have to say'and fade out. Next scene Kyle enters, indicating that the first call was from the Ranch entrance and time had passed . Nit picky but I get frustrated when they do stuff like that.
    • Jordan was gone from '87 to mid-'89. He left just weeks after Robert's late '86 return.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set it ablaze?). Victoria briefly moved into the ranch after the fire, with Claire, Johnny and Katie, I think? Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole then moved into the tack house as soon as Teriah left. I guess Victoria's children Johnny and Katie would live with Victoria at the tack house eventually? But Johnny and Katie went to boarding school during the school year. Not sure if we'll see Johnny and Katie for the summer vacation or where they would live.
