I see Nikki has got the Katherine treatment and is now referred to as a legendary business woman.

While we never believed that and never wanted that for Nikki.

WE KNOW BETTER. Everything they learned, they learned from the bottle (and the pole).

An ENTIRE FCKING SHOW about going to Nice to see Dumas.

JFC.

I started trying to get back into the show to see Mishael’s return and it’s been challenging. Especially with Days, GH, and BTG all being so entertaining at the same time. Squeezing in something as boring and anti soap opera as current Y&R just isn’t a fun chore.

Hahaha, dead.

I still remember when Sharon threw Nikki's past in her face "you started on a pole and ended in a bottle".

We saw Nikki go from climbing the pole to the OG ho turned housewife then snooty lady of the manor and now messy matriarch/grande dame.

About the only thing that could really get me interested in this show right now would be a "Who Killed Victor?" storyline IF he stayed dead. The writing for him is atrocious! And the lineup of possible suspects would be most of the canvas. Months worth of great story if done well.....of course...not getting done with Griffith.

They are mentioning Aristotle Dumas in nearly every scene now.  Good Lord.  The poor actors must roll their eyes every time they get a new script.

Or get excited because they have less to memorize for the same check lol

I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding.

The only thing is that the Victoria/Ashland wedding of a few summers back felt like months, to me at least.

So this summer it's the Dumas fête. I noticed that one of us, ranger1rg, has predicted the following...

On 6/4/2025 at 2:51 PM, ranger1rg said:

...The Alexander Dumas story is the worst of all. ALL this buildup for ALL these months -- you just know it's going to land with a thud. Even the best writer couldn't follow through with something good.

Will any of it matter? Two days after we see all these shocked faces when Dumas appears, we'll be back to talking about takeovers and changes in job titles.

It could go like that. But it also could be more like a repeat of Victoria/Ashland, only this time, I could see it feeling like the better part a year. (For example, we'll see all of them unpacking their suitcases and choosing several ensembles to wear for several evenings of the party. Then each Y&R regular attending the party gets introduced, plus a few new people, but not Dumas, of course. Then various invitees make speeches to compliment other invitees. Blah, blah, blah... And ultimately, we may or may not see Dumas on camera at some point.) The only prediction I feel really comfortable making is that the length of the party will NOT be a "happy medium." 😒

The first couple of days will hold a modicum of interest as we finally see a new setting. The Nice set will probably have a few rooms and a fake looking 'outdoor' area. I'm sure they'll go with the cliched look that screams South of France.

Then we will be subjected to endless talky scenes.

What little budget there is has probably been put toward paying for the new set. So they'll want to get their money's worth.

Meanwhile back in today's GC it's the usual chat fest at restaurants. No one works despite most convos being about business.

The saddest thing about this was my immediate thought was "oh that's way too much action for Y&R." 🤣

The part about everyone making speeches and declarations - 100%

For my bingo card, I add references to visits made to Summer, Noah, and Allie offscreen.

-- It's getting easier to tell all the time when we're getting a new set -- in the weeks before the unveiling, we get even more Society/Crimson Lights/GCAC scenes than usual. Total absurdity.

-- Does Lily eat every meal at the GCAC or Society? Sure seems like it. Of course, she did run into Nate, Audra, and Amy at the park. Nothing unusual about that, right?

-- That park conversation among Amy, Nate, and Audra could not have been more awkward. It's a shame, but I don't even care that Amy is recovering. She never really seemed ill and they never gave us a reason to care about her.

-- GMAB with Audra AGAIN "shedding a tear" and blaming it on allergies so we can remember that she has a hard shell but is also vulnerable.

-- The "Kyle Signs A Contract" story is just embarrassing.

-- That pales next to the "Is Cole Dying?" story. Cole is another character with history who Josh Griffith has led us to NOT care about. Seeing these people FOR DAYS ignore his sickness is something else.

Victoria gets a doctor to come to the house. It looks like someone they called off the street and said "Hey, you want to be an actor?" The performance was bad and the writing for him was worse.

They can't afford to use the hospital set -- that's what I'm guessing.  Poor Cole will probably die on Victoria's couch, and never be in the hospital.  Jeeze-Louise!!

The highest rated soap seemingly has the smallest budget.

Days has more sets and movement than Y&R and they haven’t had a budget in YEARS. Also their business stories bother me significantly less than Y&R as they actually mention what their companies do from time to time and it doesn’t eat the show.
