My only complaint is that we didn't get Bo reuniting with Philip on-screen and Bo meeting Xander as his brother. Very much missed opportunities. And yes, that montage song (was it the same awful one used for John and Marlena?) was horrendous. Sad to think because of the horrible budget we'll never get a decent montage ever again. 

I do also wish there was a vixen on canvas that wanted to use Xander's current predicaments to her advantage and get closer to him. In fact, we literally have no such character anywhere on the canvas and that's a crying shame. Kristen does not count, she's far too long in the tooth and tired.

Good episode today, a relief to get some movement forward on plots that are actually going somewhere (sorry, Bope fans)

First and foremost I loved Xander and Philip. Exactly what needed to happen, where they just forgive each other's crimes and start over as co CEO's on more equal footing. I was surprised at the genuine remorse in Xander's apology, but that is always Xander, he reacts then regrets. I think Sarah needs to just let him have shared custody; he has no charges against him, he is a billionaire who can afford the best lawyer (but will hire Melinda lol), and she knows he is an excellent father. I am over her thinking she has done nothing wrong though. And of course Xander can not admit the truth to her or she will use it against him. Shocked she thinks she has the power in the relationship and that he would take her back if she snapped her fingers. She betrayed him for MONTHS. He snapped and did an appalling thing, but it was not premeditated like the Brady murder that she was apparently fine with. So shut up Sarah. I have missed Philip dreadfully, so glad to see him awake and for Xan and Phil to resume. Definitely felt the hand of producer changed character direction on Xander today. Thank God. Ron had terrible things planned from what I've heard.

Belle is definitely addicted to whatever EJ is serving up. Can't blame her. I obviously have a thing for bad boys with accents. I felt a bit bad for Chanel when she realized that EJ is probably back in their lives. She needs to get over forcing fatherhood on Johnny though. He is clearly not ready. I still think they end up with Sophia's kid though.

Glad Marlena called Sarah to get some medical advice. Where are Carrie, Will, Paul, Brady...? Why are they leaving her alone right now? If that was my mum I'd make sure she always had somebody around to give her emotional support.

Rafe is still dull as dirt but if he has to be on, doing cop stuff is about what he needs to be used for.

That just seems so unnecessary. If anything, I think they should've put Xander with Stephanie for a little while. She's gonna need somebody to move on with once she finds out that Alex has been passing her book around. Plus, it would make that storyline actually interesting.

I can't disagree that Carey's voice would be difficult to imitate. But I guess we'll never really know whether the Young Tom voice we got could have been improved upon.🤔

Well, to be fair, Macdonald Carey/Tom wouldn't have sounded that way when Hope was a little girl,...  That's voice and gravitas of an old man

Sorry, @brisbydog, but I disagree about Sarah and Xander's crimes being made equal. Sarah kept a secret. Yes, it was wrong. But that didn't justify Xander almost beating Phillip to death. No one put a gun to his head.

As for a certain someone on the horizon, I will agree with you in that I look forward to that like I look forward to a root canal. But I fear that tired dance is once more coming.

Agreed.  I don't like Sarah very much and think she can come off hypocritical a lot.  But keeping a secret because you knew your husband would do something criminal AGAIN and then he does the exact thing you thought he would isn't the same thing here.  

You can argue Sarah's judgement.  It's two different leagues, especially since Xander already knew the truth about Phillip so it became a lie by omission at that point.

I would also argue Xander isn't an excellent father if he can't keep his anger in control to the point he nearly kills someone not giving a thought about his daughter and possible jail time.

Overall, today wasn’t bad, but I feel like they missed the mark a little bit in some scenes. 

While I enjoyed Chanel and Paulina’s scene, I feel like Chanel and Johnny’s viewpoints about EJ should be reversed. He should be the one that’s holding the grudge against EJ and she should be the one trying to mend the relationship between them, as opposed to what we saw today. That could lead to some pretty good conflict between the two of them, especially now that people are suspecting that Johnny was the shooter. I’m still glad that they’re being featured so much though. And I liked seeing Chanel go head to head with EJ. 

I feel like they also missed the mark a little with Holly/Tate/Sophia/Aaron. Sophia, having a pregnancy scare should have happened at the end of the episode, or at least after the graduation ceremony instead of before it. But I did enjoy their scenes too, especially in the beginning. Tate, speaking to Holly about missing John and not feeling ready to celebrate was nice and felt very real. I like that Holly comforted him. And despite Rachel Boyd still not doing that good of a job lol I liked seeing the four of them reminisce about high school. It’s too bad that we didn’t get a proper teen quad with them. I have my suspicions why but I’ve always liked the relationship that they all have with each other and I hope we see more of it play out onscreen. 

Btw, based on what Holly said, did anybody hear anything about Days writing a storyline about Eric and Nicole possibly breaking up?

Marlena and Sarah talking about grief was another realistic scene that I’m glad was included in the script. It’s realism like this that has really elevated the show over the past few months. Marlena  finding out about Rachel’s suspicions, and Brady’s part in it could be pretty interesting. 

Btw, Brady and Sarah? I don’t think I’d hate it.

And, I’m glad that Kristen finally found her mother. Now let’s just hope we never see that pointless old pain in the ass again 😂😂😂

Not seeing Eric just irritates me. Eric hasn't even been shown but brief moments here and there. Why even bring him back? Just small things like that is what hurts DAYS being a good soap again. Belle in yesterday's episode was all about dropping everything and wanting to be by Marlena's side. Would have been nice to see Belle at "girls" night with Marlena and Rachel. Again Belle just had to go tell EJ she is in love with him and with zero follow up. Where was Belle after seeing EJ?

 

Brady was sleeping with Sarah's mother in law, also his grandfather's ex, last year. Her daughter is his first cousin. She's always going to be in love with Xander. I'm tired of relationships for Brady that are both semi incestuous and doomed from the start. He needs either Chloe or a completely new character with no baggage. Or recast Melanie. Heck, nobody wants Gwen. Put her wig on and hook him up with Theresa. He supposedly loved her so much last year he lost his sobriety.

Agreed that, in the long run, Brady belongs with Chloe or Theresa. 

Having at least one of them on the canvas adds a very good dynamic to not only Brady’s storyline, but also could add to the Kiriakis family storylines as well.

And, also agreed that nobody wants Gwen. Plus, hearing Eric Martsolf say the name Gwen would probably trigger a lot of bad Passions memories for me 😂😂😂
