Nah he's passive, he's not doing sh*t to get rid of Leslie, he seems to enjoy having her around. Old Ted would have dragged her for filth, several times over by now.

That was my point. Thanks for agreeing.

I know I'm beating a dead horse but recasting Ted was utterly freaking pointless

No dead horses beaten at all, because you're right. Utterly pointless.

Right because everyone knows exactly what goes on behind the scenes at BTG.

he now treats Leslie like a minor annoyance when she's a total nutcase. The disdain just isn't there like it should be.

Yup! and not even trying to work on his marriage AT ALL! I know he's giving Nicole space but he's doing the bare minimum

Which is why it's telling that his close doctor friend was pointing it out. ;)

But I felt part of the reason...and I've mentioned it before...that we have a new Ted was because old Ted wouldn't look at Silk Press Sheila at all in a romantic light off of how MJ played him. At MOST...MJ's Ted might have hate sex with her. But romantic feelings...nope.

New Ted on the other hand from all I've seen so far...it just feels like the writers either were or worse are trying to set up a more traditional triangle between him and Nicole and SilkPress off the scenes since the reveal where they developed SilkPress's POV more. Meanwhile, Nicole has been background. I like they slowly are getting back to her POV. But for a triangle to work, all views have to be squared. Also it's a way to keep TM around beyond being a one note psycho since she's one of the best actresses on the show. Again...I did not see that happening with MJ still in the role.

With Keith...I don't like the idea, but I can see it because he does come across as a more romantic lead who might waffle between two female leads.

Sorry your post couldn't just stand as what it is, positive and hopeful.

It did for me during this crazy work week and now sullen day so it was appreciated @skiman12082004.

It's kinda like Twitter for me when it comes up again once a month so *keeps scrolling by* We are not going to agree on everything. And as long as no one is doing the T-word with their thoughts well *shrugs* I admit that it perplexes me how I am totally in agreement with one poster on all our mutual soaps, but this one...and we are not completely far off from each other, just different perspective which I like personally...but I think we both know it's the nature of the beast. :)

NuTed gives recurring energy and seems watered down. Carlton played in his face by being disrespectful under the guise of jesting and Ted was like "meh".

It is maddening! Someone is playing with your wife's name in their mouth and you don't even have the guts to check your friend to never speak on your wife like that again even if it was some stupid joke. He isn't even fighting for this woman he claims to love so much. Meanwhile, he's chasing after Leslie to come to Eva's birthday and sitting down to talk to her in his hotel room after she upended his life.

He is embarrassing and weak. He sets no boundaries with Lesile so why would he with Carlton. Total pushover vibes, which is the opposite of what OGTed was giving.

He got Eva a chair at some bougie salon and girl starts crying about it and how she wants more for herself and he straight up gives her his daughter's job as assistant. Normally, I wouldn't think much about this as he feels guilty about not knowing Eva even exsisted...but with the way he has acted with everything else, I honestly feel like he has no backbone. He could have helped Eva pursue a different career without putting it into her hands after he already set her up nicely with a place to stay and a job.

The writing for Ted is the issue in my opinion. It's illogical. The actor is fine.

I definitely think the writing isn't helping, but NuTed does come across differently than Maurice in acting style.

I also would put it on the writing. Keith is not at all a bad actor. Simply different. Since they seem to want him as a romantic lead, the writing...for better or worse...needs to lead into that.

Well Maurice had more of a swagger. Even his clothing seemed more showy-the white suits, turtlenecks.

And we got to see his Ted romance Nicole, with indications he was still hot for her with lots of PDA's.

Nu Ted came on right at the point of the reveal/split so there is a disconnect . We haven't seen this Ted in any relationship with Nicole apart from adversarial.

It's like a new relationship.

It's a challenge for the actor, writers and the audience,.

Exactly. I don't think Ted has been "recast" at all. I continue to believe Robinson was always meant to have the role.

If BTG was all about recasting, we can name multiple other characters we'd have recast before Ted. This show isn't moving that way.

And what swagger it was...mmmmm lol.

And I felt his character was the first man to have a clear defined wardrobe on this show. It's part of the reason that people were picking on the wardrobe for NuTed online I felt. He was just so defined that it was off putting because Ted was sooooo put together.

Lots of PDAs. I miss that.

Well if that's the case I think that was a poor decision.

It's awkward enough when a new show is forced to recast early b/c an actor is inadequate, but to have an intentional recast in the wings, no matter how the first actor is doing is misguided.

And for the recast to happen right at a crucial moment?

Santa Barbara had Nicolas Coster and Marcy Walker signed but held up those characters appearing until the actor was available.

Now with Ted being major in the storyline that wouldn't have worked. I just don't think Maurice was that bad or Keith that good that the whole thing was necessary.

Maybe they should have cast someone who at least evoked Keith physically if that were the plan.

Like if Maurice was a placeholder for Timmon/Bill that would have been more believable from a physical POV.

Especially when they were happy to cast and keep Ben Gavin, Alex and Brandon who were all very shaky at the beginning.
