-- More bad writing.

We've been told how Derek takes care of his vehicle. A guy who knows how to detail a car/truck would not be so stupid as to use steel wool on stainless.

-- Oh, and here's more bad writing. Tomas said he was bumped from a case by another lawyer and was going home to work. Haven't we been told he's on the partner track? There's no way he'd be bumped on a case.

You know what? I actually didn't dislike it as much the second time around. But tbf, I didn't hate it the first time either. It's already been established so far that RC's breakdowns can be pretty hit or miss. And I would say his average so far on this show has been 50/50.

Outside of Jacob vs Silk Press Sheila, it was all B/C plots. However, I got the sense that there was plot movement...something for better or for worse, RC does know how to do. And even within those plots, I felt there were so good character development moments.

What really stood out for me was Doug and Vanessa's last scene. FINALLY, they stopped dancing around it. And we got more information on what their arrangement truly is in terms of their marriage. Given the building toward it through Vanessa's sexacapedes and Doug's gambling storyline, it felt earned. And lest we forget...he still didn't tell her about his addiction nor what's going on with Joey. Meanwhile, Dani is slowly getting clues from seeing Vanessa with Joey one episode to seeing Doug in the middle of the afternoon on this episode. I don't see it as them shoving her into a storyline unlike Carly on GH if an example is needed, but it wasn't exactly organic either. Then again, the Vanessa with Joey scene was organic. Not the gambling stuff.

I did like it though. It was a nice spotlight for the Dani/Pamela friendship. And I also liked the idea that was mentioned about a Pamela vs Vanessa feud. After all, regardless of what's written on the page, they both appear on screen to be close to Dani. And I find it relatable to see two friends have issues when they are close friends to the same person, but NOT to each other. And their scene with Diego was ripe with tension.

Just cuz...HEY, DIEGO, HEY!! lol.

I loved Jacob vs SilkPress. The web that girl stays weaving continues to be fascinating to watch. I know we have discussed at length about how long SilkPress can stay on the canvas. As soon as it's figured out what she's done with Laura and allegedly Eva/Kat, it's OVER. And such a soap find...it's fascinating to watch a crafty villainess worming her way around getting caught. Which is giving old school soap. I also love that in her worming her way out of the charges, no one is being dumbed down to keep her on the canvas. So this next turn in the story is great, refreshing, and probably should be studied by other soaps.

I enjoyed Dani and Andre. Again, it has had a build. And technically if we are going there, it's about to be three months. Usually three months is the perfect time to start having the 'what are we' conversation...whether someone is casually dating or just being a booty call. And that look Andre gave Dani when she said Bill's name...oooooo he's finally over her talking about him and showing a sign of possessiveness. It's also not lost on me that his reaction to her saying her reasons...was to leave. Big uh oh for them. Where will Dani/Andre go next?

Well...look who got comfortable enough in his role that he gave some good acting aka Tomas. I liked the scenes with Tomas and Kat on a second watch. But I don't think Kat's wrong with what she said. She's so busy and focused on Eva though, she's ignoring red signs with him I am afraid.

And speaking on comfortable...look at Derek trying to act. lol. Personally, I thought both actor and actress did good jobs. And again, it's had enough of a build, you knew it was coming. And I'm surprised to type it, but I was Team Derek for that argument. He was trying to make her feel better, and it just made things worse. And Ashley was being unsufferable. How was he to know about the curry? And of course, she runs right into Andre.

Decent cliffhanger though I'm a firm NO to Andre/Ashley versus me being open to it at the start of the show. Wow...how things have changed.

Another episode breakdown by RC. That wasn't great to see on screen.

I thought the Laura and Leslie scenes were a dream sequence.

The episode was better than yesterday's episode.

I'm not feeling the Anita story at all.

Ashley and Derek continue to be a bore.

Tues ep opens with Princess Kit Kat  dumping exposition dialogue to Jacob.

I really can't take her seriously in those outfits. Like she literally puts on that get up to wander around all day? What exactly does she do?

OMG Derek-is he a cyborg? Jan comes by all chatty and natural and he literally stands there.

I'm sorry, but is the actor watching himself? There's no body movement whatsever. He just recites lines.

And Ted was replaced?

And why didn't they just make Derek a cop? He could naturally be in scenes with Jacob, instead of those visits to the set.

Dedicated wonder nurse Ashley upsets the hospital schedule b/c of her private life. Honey, maybe work would be a distraction?

@Paul Raven, agreed. I never understood why Derek was made a firefighter unless this show has some big fire sweeps coming up. I feel that's an uneventful job for a character to have on soaps with its limited budget. I do think that if he were a cop alongside Jacob, that would've probably endeared us to him more b/c his existence wouldn't be only Ashley.

Speaking of Jacob, did they just drop the shady partner story? They really need to speed up Joey's story.

MVJ is strong with the Duprees, but (and I am saying this out of love) she must tighten up on the side character stories if she wants them to be just as viable. Otherwise, I see this show falling to the same trap as B&B and Santa Barbara, where side characters rarely thrive.

    • I watched almost all of this, in real time, with no recording devices and nobody in real life to discuss it with.  Hard to believe it's been 49 years!  I didn't have soap magazines, so I had no way to fill in any episodes I missed.  I remember all of this vividly except for Matt McAllister.  But I do remember seeing a clip of Matt McAllister in this thread a few months ago.  Well okay it's a big exaggeration to say I remember it vividly -- it's tiny bits of memories from decades ago-- but when I was watching, I felt it vividly.  I guess I can say I have vague memories of my own vivid emotions I felt while watching.
    • I remember the arrival of three Webber siblings, and I liked Terri.  (I know the Terry on GH most discussed by viewers was 1980s Brock's daughter, but this was someone else entirely, and a decade earlier). I think I remember Terri as having reddish hair?  so I just googled the actress but can't find any color photos from that year. (I don't remember Pat Lambert at all)

    • Sadly, that was more than some African-American characters get on soaps today.
    • I've been rewatching old episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on ParamountPlus.  There are times when Captain Sisko visits his father in New Orleans.  Sisko's father runs a restaurant with specific local New Orleans cuisine, and we actually see and hear him recommending specific dishes to the restaurant customers.  I can almost smell the aromas. I'd like to see occasional mention of the menu at Orphey Gene's Soul Food Cafe.  Someone orders something, or mentions how much they enjoy something.  They named Orphey Gene's after MVJ's mother.  I want to feel it as a soul food restaurant and not as a generic diner set for conversations.  I mean it obviously it will still be used as set for conversations, but give it more specific atmosphere.
    • Yes but, after Lucas, Lance, Leslie, Lorie, Bill Bell definitely had a “house code” when it came to character naming conventions.
    • IKR. I hollered just now. I totally agree. Even now the Doug/Joey/Vanessa storyline is moving from C to B and doesn't even touch on the crooked cop part of Joey's storyline. It's similar to what they did with Martin's secret...just idling on the backburner all of Month 2 until this month regaining a build to it. I feel the same about the crooked cop storyline.    And I can't wait for the police fundraiser. Hoping to see more of Jacob's family then as well.
    • LOL @Taoboi and I posted the same thing at the same time. And during the convo between Anita and police chief Elon, we learned that Elon's wife (Jacob's mother) is the police dispatcher and Jacob's brother is another cop. So maybe the reveal will happen after the entire family is shown onscreen?
    • LOL. Great minds.

    • Don't insult the deliciousness of the Orphey Gene's food like that!

Wasn't that poised for August, though?  Or was that another event?
