Maybe we'll meet Leslie's mama who'll be a former Articulette and they'll build the rival family from there that a lot of people seem to think is missing. It'd make sense considering Anita's been hammering on about going on tour and reviving her music career.

I agree, it could work. There are a few ways that it could work TBH. I would buy Leslie growing up in a dysfunctional home and longing to be a part of a more powerful family and/or more loving family.

I’m sure Trisha-Mann Grant would love to play those layers too.

It stuck me when she said in an interview that she could identify with the pain Leslie carried because she was a single mother of two struggling with no help raising her kids at one point. You can tell playing Leslie means a lot to her, as devious as the character is (which I’m sure is fun to play for any actor)!

She most definitely would. And I would enjoy watching it!

Yes, I agree, that was a very touching moment in her interview. It helped me feel much more connected to her as a performer. I also got the feeling from her, Live with DD, that she wanted to go deeper in conversation.

Not trying to be a contrarian, but I don't think the show needs a rival family.  Rival families have been over-done on soaps since the 1980s. And it might make the show too predictable.  I'd prefer they beef-up the have-not group with perhaps a couple of workers from the Country Club and one or two Dupree servants, joining the existing group of have-nots.  They could all know one another without being a real "family."  That would give the audience more opportunity to see Fairmont Crest life from the "backstairs."  To me this would be a far more interesting perspective than another wealthy family to rival the Duprees.

That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates.

I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.

With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.

I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.

The Duprees not having any staff is a bugbear for me. They've included the background staff at the Country Club but no one at the Dupree home. Even just an extra bringing in a tray of food/drinks or responding to a request from Anita would suffice.

But why worry about something that might not happen?

Right now, most things revolve around the Duprees. We have no idea if or how long that will continue. For now, it's working.

I agree. For now. I am sure in a year's time...a new family (or old) will start to appear on the show.

Really an excellent point. I'm worried about Derek but he's not working. The Duprees being too good somehow ... well, if they say it instead of be it, okay yes, I would worry but as long as they keep on being good, geeze, that's something to celebrate, not worry!!!  Party on?!

They've talked about having staff at the Dupree house, like Rowena the chef. I just don't think we've seen them.

I know the other soaps talk about staff help who we never see (especially Y&R with all those ridiculous "Mrs. Martinez" mentions), but I wanted BTG to do better.

Monday, after the party, Leslie showed up at the Duprees. Martin was with everyone as they listened to her for a bit.

Then Martin said he was needed at home.  Anita and Vernon knew he was upset and they were concerned.
Vernon asked "Do you need Titus, or are you okay to drive?"  Martin said he was okay and left to drive himself home.

Either Titus is a chauffeur or just some helpful all-around employee.
