It's a very easy concept to recreate with 3 new couples.  It's seriously the most boring of the 3 specials, but generic enough to use a similar plot.   I think you could use inspiration to tie it in with JJ/Gabi, Belle/EJ, and Shawn/Jada, but then it would have absolutely nothing to do with Stephanie so it would be odd she wrote it lol.

Kayla and Shane weren't in One Stormy Night.  Marcus was.

This video contains the opening credits for the movie.

@Soapsuds

Here's how I remember the chain of events — let me know if I'm missing anything:

  1. Rafe used the tunnels to sneak into the house and plant the surveillance device.
  2. EJ figured out Belle was wearing a wire. Presumably, off-camera, this must have tipped him off to search for other bugs. He found the camera and yanked out the SIM card.
  3. EJ was shot shortly after.
  4. Meanwhile, Rafe reused the tunnels to retrieve the camera — but, like a total dummy, he didn't bother connecting it to his laptop for two days. When he finally did, he realized the SIM card was missing.
  5. Later, EJ came back home and checked the SIM card (which would only show footage from before he found itwhich was before he was shot).

Thus, much like Rafe himself, the camera is useless because it would not have recorded the actual event.

If the show was interested in tying in one of the three prime time specials in the 90s, the smarter choice probably would have been Night Sins from 1993.

Night Sins was the ushering in of Titan Publishing, the first mentions of Kate Roberts coming in to run it, plus it had involved Jack retyping a manuscript he had found in the new house he and Jen moved into... which ended up being a thinly veiled story written by Kate about her dalliance with Bill Horton that produced Lucas.

However, I doubt the writers were even thinking about the prime time episodes when deciding to name the manuscript One Stormy Night.  I also don't see Stephanie being the one that would be writing it.  The current actress playing Stephanie seems to play a more passive version of Stephanie vs the previous takes by Shayna and Shelley..imho.

Javi is cute... much too good for Leo.  He can do so much better.

Why would you even tie into Night Sins if you are just re-hashing B stories?  John/Marlena on the conference table with Sami seeing it and Carrie getting acid thrown in her face are the two main plots.

You would be better off just throwing a Titan Anniversary party instead.

I am skeptical they are even tying One Stormy Night from 1992 into this plot at all, but it's a much easier plotline to rehash and you could use several couples to make it work.

Now that you mention the Jack/Kate/Bill story that might be one of the few "book" stories that worked though.

Sure, a lot of the storylines of that era are felt on the show today, but the movie was almost entirely about Roman/Marlena/John plus Sami/Carrie/Austin and a side plot of Carly/Bo/Billie/Lawrence with the background of Titan's opening.   It's...not about Jack and the memoir.

So, yes, you could go back and use some of the small parts of the movie, but you couldn't or shouldn't do a direct homage of it like you could with One Stormy Night.  It's two different things IMO.

Leo is insufferable. Why is he still on this show?

Javi can leave too. He adds nothing to the show.

So now Shawn is going to commit a crime?

Everything Leo wears is ugly.

    • Jonathan Kellerman is definitely the most EON/Slesar-like writer in the business right now.  Unfortunately, he's almost 80 years old.  Interestingly, he has a son (Jesse Kellerman) who's about 45, who's been studying under him.  I believe what makes the Kellermans such effective mystery & crime writers is their background in psychology.
    • I never understood the point of Marchetti. Summer left the show for a job there in Italy. OK. When she returned they had Jack buy the company. Why couldn't Summer have returned and simply stated it was not a good fit, she missed her home , family/friends etc It was absurd that this internationally successful fashion empire could just be bought by a US cosmetics firm at the drop of a hat. What was the point when they never did anything with it at all? Summer simply could have gone to work at Jabot. And wasn't there some nonsense about an offshhoot called Marchetti Home? Was Phyllis attached to that at some point? This show...

    • Haven't seen today's ep yet but so will be interested to see the clothes. So far I think they have been very character specific (even if I don't like some of them eg Kat's cutsie style) Anita is very showy/glittery, Nicole classic elegance, Dani sexy/bold colors etc. Unlike Y&R which seems much more generic. Also BTG pays attention to the men's wardrobe and has developed a style for the boyz-which is harder to do with male fashion. The absence of any of Derek/Ashley at any of these big events again demonstrates how they are in a different universe to the rest of the show. Not that a nurse and a fireman would be there but still they seem destined at this point to stay in their own lane and have little interaction with the core of the show.
    • Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli, and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.
    • Once Johnny Dallas' cut himself off from Laurie Ann Karr and their son, and once Laurie successfully recovered from her mental problems, she wanted a new, fresh, and healthy start for the next chapter of her life. She legally reverted her name and changed John Victor's  surname to Karr. After moving to the country (when Teri  Keane was dropped from the show), Bill and Martha Marceau legally adopted Jennifer, the baby girl whom they had earlier taken in when the child's biological mother, Taffy Simms (and other bio family members) proved to be unfit to raise her. Jennifer legally and emotionally became a Marceau, and gave that name to her own daughter, whom Jennifer birthed through surrogacy as a single parent. Et...voila! The Karr and Marceau legacies live on.

    • BLQ is having second thoughts regarding putting her baby up for adoption. Chase is upset he can't tell Dante. So both are putting this on at lulus feet. Saying she is holding it over them. Lulu is doing none of this.
    • Yes she absolutely was involved in that story which seems to have gone nowhere.  She didn't start to remove herself from the writing until 1973.
