An interesting twist would be if Leslie got a hold of the information. It has to come out at some point and Bill has to lose his leverage at some point too. Considering that she hates Ted and Nicole it would be great revenge for her to drop a bomb about their son.

Yep. That's the character though, she married super young, 3 years down the road hopefully she will appreciate the divorce.

I had the same thoughts about Nicole being the one to step out!

Yas! Sue Ellen was my favorite! I hope the writers look at the mistakes Dallas made and take Dani down a bigger path.

I absolutely agree with this! Her journey should be fun.

Correct. They definitely had their own Tom Hagen before Bill showed up. I would hope..

First, let me start on how much eye candy was on display. Andre and those velvet pants! Derek in the blue jeans with a little bit of wiggle. And Jacob and his everything. LOL. And then Jacob's father, too. Lord...

I'm starting to feel like every time I see Sara Bibel on breakdowns, I'm going to get plenty for me to chew on. Because there was a lot. And I believe the last time I felt that way, Lynn was with her. Or had been. Yes, it be night and day with her depending on breakdowns. But I can say that about Jazmen who is my favorite scriptwriter so far.

And can I say fashion was on point. I believe my standouts were Anita (she looked good in the leather pants!), Dani, and Andre. I really and truly want Vernon's winter jacket. He looked so majestic in it as Anita looked regal.

Is this the second time that Bill and Dani were in scenes alone with each other? Because the only time I can think of is right before the wedding. And this was very much like that in how Timon and Karla 'dance' with each other acting-wise. They bring out so many nuances and subtext going on even though as the scene goes from comedic to serious to vicious to back again. And there were just times when they both give so much in their body language and faces...no matter how subtle. There was literally one moment where Bill might have been saying he was not getting back with Dani, but how his voice was had room for doubt. Or there was a moment where Dani went from deluded to crystal clear serious in a literal second. That's just them separately feeding off their energy. And then...together? Just WOW. I already knew I would rewatch their scenes.

And then Andre and Dani. Hmmmmm...they are being everything I need them to be right now. Together, but not. Connected, but not romantic. The kind of relationship they are in does exist in the real world so it's nice to see it on a show. Would I like it to turn into love? Sure. But it doesn't need to be either. If it grows, great. If not, okay. But right now...in this moment...it's a needed thing between them and secretive, but adult. I'm probably not explaining it well, but I do like it. And I think somehow Andre will help her move on from Bill.

Other than Derek's blue jeans and the little moment where Ashley and he realized that Andre was leaving for a booty call, I wasn't feeling those scenes. Oh...and I liked Andre took Nosy Nurse's advice. Okay...and he is a lover of wine...which made me think of what you all mentioned earlier about if Andre happen to be a good cook. Or I'll go farther and say a chef...who would know what wine would pair perfectly with a specific meal.

I felt that Anita talking to Vernon this episode was very meta. Not only for Vernon's role as a politician and in civil rights, but in the fact of there being a black patriarch on a soap and her as a matriarch. A lot of us watched soaps when we were young and were inspired by some of who we saw right along with our mothers and/or grandmothers. So for a moment, it made me wonder if there were other young people (or younger) who might see that scene and have the same feeling. Just a great awww moment. Meanwhile, I loved how subtly crafty they were being throughout the episode.

I always love seeing Caroline.

Oooh...that's the product placement you all were talking about. How old school cute!

I love the use of flashbacks. Naomi's memory of Bill (can we get one of her with Hayley?) and Hayley's flashback of what Dani told her about 'past is prologue' were very well-done.

God, Tamara Tunie is sooooo good. She gives so many good background reactions and looks even when she is not the center of a scene (and when she is hehe), and it was really on display this episode and I loved it.

Hmmm...not sure how I feel about Jacob's storyline as of yet. I just continue to feel regardless of what his father says, it is not all what it seems. But intrigued.

A minor complaint for me. And I say again minor...it seems like the A story from go was Dani/Bill/Hayley with B story centered nicely around Nicole. I think I am just used to one or the other being dominant in a week with several subplots going on that felt loosely adjacent. Nicole's story has been nicely paced for me. But with the main part of Dani's story done...it just feels...??? haphazard. Heck, right now Dani feels C plot for me. I know she needs to be honestly, I think I'm just being impatient for the next main part in her plot.

Derek and Andre have more chemistry with each other than either of them has with Ashley. Andre did look hot though.

I’m still Team Hayley and I have no problem with Bill interceding on her behalf over how everyone at the country club is treating her, which I don’t think is right. There’s a big difference between “inconvenient consequences” and grown ass adults acting like bitchy high school mean girls lol. But it is good drama though. And I actually wouldn’t mind Bill blackmailing Vernon and Anita over all of this too.

I still have more sympathy for Bill/Hayley than I do for Dani, which has surprised me from the very beginning.

I feel like Shanice is either someone who is going home to her completely normal husband and three children to bitch about her day OR she's going to turn out to be a complete psycho.

I keep saying the same about Andre/Ashley. Cuz if it came down to having a period of time where it's Ashley/Andre/Dani...Dani would eat her alive. Not Nosy Nurse...that is more of a match.

Now you are talking! Shanice... has SOOOO much potential... In comparison to Ashley who is just losing precious airtime for the show. I'm not sure if I would put her right in the center of the action that fast... I would give her a slow-burn storyline and dip her toes into more leading aspects.

They can't ignore all the positive reactions to that character. It's a sign. The actress has incredible presence and comedic qualities.

Some of the greatest soap roles... have started small.

I actually think that Leslie is a part of all of this. Ted told her last week that he still has that lawyer on speed dial and since then it has me wondering if he went to Bill for help and maybe Anita and Vernon are holding on that info as well.

    • Thanks for starting this thread!  I was hoping others were listening and would want to chat about it. I'm really enjoying Montecito!  The production and audio values are top notch. The storylines are interesting and keep me wanting more.  There is corporation succession, cheating, alcoholism, bisexual relationships, divorced parents, brother/sister drama, scorned mother, father/son relationship issues, etc. At first I couldn't stand Mena's (sp?) voice, but I've grown to enjoy her and I love to hate her as a villain. I keep hearing Smitty (BTG) in Mike Manning's voice, so it keeps throwing me haha. The only thing going against it is one episode per week, at only 18 minutes long, so we need more content. Anyone else listening and enjoying it?
    • This, plus they nixed their overnight set crew during the COVID era and never brought them back.

    • I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set.  However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation).  As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task.   Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set.  Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets.  So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation.  Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
    • I knew Giovanni Mazza was talented but damn that kid is a star in the making.
    • The Nurses' Ball has always been cringey, fast forward material for me, but especially during the Frank era. The musical numbers and audience reactions are unwatchable.  So many of the conflicts on this show feel phony and manufactured. Probably no better instance is the Gio - Dante crap. Gio's whole story is inorganic, plot driven, no stakes, fake conflict; giving people lame drama just to give them drama, a prime example of GH under Frank.
    • What is the reason why soaps can’t use whatever sets they want? How exactly does it cost money..? I’m sure they still have Michael and Lauren’s house, why can’t they just put it up and shoot it when needed lol
    • I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
    • And, Dani's focus, whoa, when she deigns to really pay attention, her focus is laser sharp. And, Chelsea is a natural attention seeking target for Dani. She is so much more mother than I realized before.
